Good Morning,
I know at times I’m very casual, having fun, enjoying the moment, and using terms like TOO CUTE and IT’S ME! So much of this is meant to be playful and simply offer all of us another way to enjoy the people and things around us! I try to lighten things up a bit from the regular routines we all experience each day. However, in the Diary, I also acknowledge and respectfully honor the serious things that go on in all
of our lives. On this particular day, I would like to be very serious.
The Racing Community is like one HUGE FAMILY. You can travel around the country and often see many of the same people at the different events and venues. My John, years ago, became very friendly with Larry Jones. When they both shipped into Churchill Downs for various stakes races, they would be stabled together and got to know each other very well. This represents one of the FUN parts that goes along with racing…cultivating the friendships one is able to develop along the way!
Obviously, we are all participating in a sport. The primary objective for everyone is WIN! Thus, you are constantly competing against one another. That is the nature of all sports in general. However, it does not mean that you are not sharing a friendship and a bond with your fellow racing competitors. You are…and the basis for all of this in our sport is the ‘LOVE’ of HORSES. So many people work very hard…and always strive to do their best! I know MY TEAM sincerely wishes others success in all that they do!
On this particular day, there are 2 people MY TEAM and I would love to send our best wishes to for a SPEEDY RECOVERY.
In California, we have a very hands-on trainer named Barry Abrams. Barry came to visit ME when I was at BARN 55…and he is a very dear man. Last Tuesday, he had a very serious surgery. I want to send him a HIGH HOOF and wish him ALL OF THE VERY BEST as he recovers. This is the 2nd time he has had this type of surgery…the last one took place 6 years ago. So, our thoughts are with Barry and his family as he recovers during the upcoming summer months.
Additionally, MY TEAM read that Rosie Napravnik is having surgery this morning on her arm / wrist. Rosie has had a tremendous year winning many races and riding titles. The anticipated time for her recovery is yet unknown. They will have to see how things go, according to the DRF, before they know when she can return to riding. We would like to wish her ALL THE BEST as well!
On a very serious side, I’d like to send all of our friends who may need a HUG a big one. It never ceases to amaze ME how quickly in life things can change…in a moment! To ME, that’s why it is so important to truly enjoy and appreciate the healthy and happy times….as well as being respectful of the challenges that may develop….not only for yourself…but others.
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Rosie and Barry…especially thinking of YOU today!)

Zenny, all the best to Barry and Rosie. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery to both. And how did you know I needed a hug? The last two weeks have been extremely sad times for my family. Life can turn on a dime in a second. Thanks for thinking of us..who love you and Dottie and the entire Team Z so much. Hugs to you sweetheart.

The many sides of Zenny are what make you so special.
Hugs to all who need it!

I agree and hope they both recover quickly. I also hope that the assistant starter injured loading the 7th race at Hollywood Park on the 2nd, also is remembered in our wishes. Without those brave souls racing wouldn’t be the same.

ZENNY & DOTTIE, MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO BARRY AND ROSIE. I WISH THEM BOTH A SPEEDY RECOVERY. GOB BLESS. I LOVE YOU ZENNY :)

More information on Rosie……..Wednesday, Napravnik was aboard Naseeb, the 5-2 second choice in a five-furlong turf race, when that 5-year-old mare broke down about a quarter-mile into the race. Napravnik was unseated and hit the firm turf course hard. Naseeb suffered a broken bone between her shoulder and elbow, according to her trainer, Dale Capuano, and was euthanized.
Napravnik is the leading rider at Delaware Park with 36 wins from 146 mounts. Earlier this year, she became the first female jockey to win the Fair Grounds riding title.
Overall, Napravnik was enjoying a sensational 2011 season, ranking eighth nationally in wins with 131 and ninth nationally in purse money won with $4,699,716. She won the Louisiana Derby aboard Pants On Fire, on whom she finished ninth in the Kentucky Derby, the best finish by a female rider in the world’s most famous horse race.

To Terry C: Yes, I do! It was the punchline of my favorite joke. I thought it was ‘too old’ and thus needed no explanation. I am humbled. Here it is, with minor ‘equine’ additions:
……………………………………
After a long illness, a woman died and arrived at the Gates of Heaven, and was met by St. Peter. The woman said, “This is such a wonderful place! How do I get in?” “You have to spell a word,” St. Peter said. “Which word?” The woman asked. “Love.” The woman correctly spelled “Love” and St. Peter welcomed her in. Six months later, St. Peter came to the woman and asked her to watch the Gates of Heaven for him that day. While the woman was on guard, her husband arrived. “I’m surprised to see you,” the woman said. “How have you been?” “Oh, I’ve been doing very well! I married the beautiful young nurse who took care of you, and then I won the Pick Six. I sold the little Farm you and I lived on and bought a mansion. We have been traveling around the world. We were on vacation and I was out riding my Gypsy Vanner Stallion, I fell and hit my head, and here I am! So how do I get in?” “You have to spell a word,” the woman told him. “Which word?” the husband asked. “Czechoslovakia.”

Dear Lara:
So sorry Naseeb did not survive the spill. That is the ultimate sadness of the sport. Hugs, J.B.

Thank you Dottie for reminding us so eloquently that our lives can change in the blink of an eye and that we should live life to fullest every moment. Very best wishes to both Barry and Rosie for speedy recoveries. The photo of Zenyatta is the perfect choice for today’s message, her eyes say it all, and I am reminded that the eyes are the windows to the soul.

To Stephanie: A candle is lit and a prayer for you now..
Lord,
You invite all who are burdened to come to You.
Allow Your healing hand to heal me.
Touch my soul with Your compassion.
Touch my heart with Your courage and infinite love.
Touch my mind with Your wisdom, that I may gain greater trust in the unknown.
Teach me to reach out in my need and assist me now as I make this request.
Most loving Heart, bring me health in body and spirit and restore my strength.
Touch gently this life which You have created, now and forever.

Z, you are so right. It is very important to remember what you have in life and the people around you because you never know what could happen.
I hope you are having a great day Zenny! Stay safe and healthy! Take care for that foal!

@DJ, all your prayers are beautiful. I do not read your prayers, but use your words in prayer. It is nice to see prayers in the ‘open’. How prayers became what should be the closet came about slowly and was there before we knew it.
Susan
Thank You Team Z for reminding us that every moment counts and the greatness of our lives is measured by the love and support we give others
