Good Morning,
I know at times I’m very casual, having fun, enjoying the moment, and using terms like TOO CUTE and IT’S ME! So much of this is meant to be playful and simply offer all of us another way to enjoy the people and things around us! I try to lighten things up a bit from the regular routines we all experience each day. However, in the Diary, I also acknowledge and respectfully honor the serious things that go on in all
of our lives. On this particular day, I would like to be very serious.
The Racing Community is like one HUGE FAMILY. You can travel around the country and often see many of the same people at the different events and venues. My John, years ago, became very friendly with Larry Jones. When they both shipped into Churchill Downs for various stakes races, they would be stabled together and got to know each other very well. This represents one of the FUN parts that goes along with racing…cultivating the friendships one is able to develop along the way!
Obviously, we are all participating in a sport. The primary objective for everyone is WIN! Thus, you are constantly competing against one another. That is the nature of all sports in general. However, it does not mean that you are not sharing a friendship and a bond with your fellow racing competitors. You are…and the basis for all of this in our sport is the ‘LOVE’ of HORSES. So many people work very hard…and always strive to do their best! I know MY TEAM sincerely wishes others success in all that they do!
On this particular day, there are 2 people MY TEAM and I would love to send our best wishes to for a SPEEDY RECOVERY.
In California, we have a very hands-on trainer named Barry Abrams. Barry came to visit ME when I was at BARN 55…and he is a very dear man. Last Tuesday, he had a very serious surgery. I want to send him a HIGH HOOF and wish him ALL OF THE VERY BEST as he recovers. This is the 2nd time he has had this type of surgery…the last one took place 6 years ago. So, our thoughts are with Barry and his family as he recovers during the upcoming summer months.
Additionally, MY TEAM read that Rosie Napravnik is having surgery this morning on her arm / wrist. Rosie has had a tremendous year winning many races and riding titles. The anticipated time for her recovery is yet unknown. They will have to see how things go, according to the DRF, before they know when she can return to riding. We would like to wish her ALL THE BEST as well!
On a very serious side, I’d like to send all of our friends who may need a HUG a big one. It never ceases to amaze ME how quickly in life things can change…in a moment! To ME, that’s why it is so important to truly enjoy and appreciate the healthy and happy times….as well as being respectful of the challenges that may develop….not only for yourself…but others.
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Rosie and Barry…especially thinking of YOU today!)

Dear Kathryn Cogswell:
What a sweet video of Barry and Z. Thanks so much for posting it. Hugs, J.B.
Lucia
Thank you so much Zenyatta. I wish them speedy recoveries! I too am going through a very tough time physically at a (very) young age, so I know kind of what they are going tnrough. My injury involved an accident with horses so besides the phyiscal healing, I have my inner demons to battle with. Even if I never ride again, I will *always* be a horse racing fan! Love and God bless,
Margot Grummon
love reading Z’s web site. Use all the “cute’s” and anything else that comes to mind. Hugs
Lucia
going through– sorry!

Best wishes to Rosie and Barry.
On a slightly different but similar note, I want to share a video I just got yesterday from a friend of the rescue of a young humpback whale. The last few minutes of this video are one of the most joyous things I’ve ever seen. I hope you enjoy this as much as I have.

Hope you can link to this OK.

@Lucia. You hang in there. I’ve been bitten, kicked, thrown, squashed in a stall, chased, had my back hurt and more. You’ll come through it one way or the other. For me, after my back was hurt, I couldn’t really get on a horse’s back anymore so I learned to drive a cart. I learned to drive a single horse, a 2-up (2 horses) and a 4-up. It was the next best thing and I still got to be around horses. Keep a high heart and soak up the energy you get from this website. Unless I miss my guess, you’ll get a staggering number of posts directly to you here encouraging you and praying for you and wishing well for you. It’s the power of Z at work.
Tracy

Zenyatta sweet girl I am sending my prayers to Rosie and Barry. May God bless and take care of both of them. I had a small surgery today and thinking of you helped me so much. I sang your song waiting for the anastegeologist. This helped my anxiety because it was very high. I also told them if I had a horse to hug I would not be as scared. You help so many people sweet Zenyatta and I don’t think you know it. I told everyone about You and it helped me a lot. You are so right when you tell us to enjoy the times of health and happiness. One never knows what can happen. (Thank you Dottie for the wise words) I love you Queen Z and hope you enjoy the rest of you day. Sending Big Hugs and Kisses, Shari XXXOOO

Thank you…the love and thought given from you and your team is amazing..you always make me (and I am sure millions of others) feel like I am so important to you and actually a part of it all. It is an extra special part of my day. I so look forward to each and every diary post it always brightens my day and makes me feel so close to you and your team I dream of someday visiting you and actually seeing you, looking in your eyes but in all reality I doubt that happens unless Lane’s End ever allows visits. So being included in your daily news and activities is the next best thing…thanks to you all for allowing me to feel like I am a part of Z and her family. You have no idea what a great feeling it is! Thanks: )

Nicely said Z. You and your team are very compassionate souls. I’m sure the racing community appreciates your concern for others. This is part of what makes you and your team special. It is about winning, but also about caring. To Barry and Rosie; Get Well soon. May all horses and jockeys cross the finish line safely.

Zenny, you are a class act. We will remember your friends in our prayers and thoughts. If everyone (human) was as kind as you what a wonderful world this would be!!! Thanks for another uplifting diary entry.

@DJ-Heartily second your sentiments about Liza G. Fly- Her song about Zenyatta is indeed top of the line.

let’s not forget to express our sorrow at the loss of the horse that broke down in the delaware race when rosie broke her arm. Naseeb suffered a broken bone between her shoulder and elbow, according to her trainer, Dale Capuano, and was euthanized.
Robyn Mullhausen
Big hugs to you, Zenny, for all your thoughtfulness and caring.

My prayers are with Barry and Rosie also. I am so thankful that Jehovah Rapha (Our Almighty Healer) is watching over each of them.

@Sharon Call- thanks so much for the whale rescue site. I am still teary eyed.

I wish the very best to Barry and Rosie. Rosie is a wonderful jockey with great hands to ride Nicanor(full brother to Babaro)successfully. I believe her gentle hands facilitated his wins. Unfortunately, I’m not a Larry Jones fan. John never ran you in the Kentucky Derby..

Dear Zenyatta –
Thank you for taking the time to once again remind everyone how quickly ones life can change and how important it is to live each day to the fullest and always remember how special people in your life are and how quickly it can all change in a heartbeat… I think it’s important to always say hi to friends and co-workers and to say I love you to the ones that you love. Life is Sweet and sometimes short. Stop and smell the roses from time to time – thank you’s are always welcome and of course – hey, you are doing a great job.
High Hoof to Dottie and Z and thank you for all that you do for the Diary – it’s great to get a break from the everyday things going on in our lives and to get a smile or two or three from you is so wonderful – I can’t get enough.
With all my love – I miss you Big Z
