Good Morning,
I know at times I’m very casual, having fun, enjoying the moment, and using terms like TOO CUTE and IT’S ME! So much of this is meant to be playful and simply offer all of us another way to enjoy the people and things around us! I try to lighten things up a bit from the regular routines we all experience each day. However, in the Diary, I also acknowledge and respectfully honor the serious things that go on in all
of our lives. On this particular day, I would like to be very serious.
The Racing Community is like one HUGE FAMILY. You can travel around the country and often see many of the same people at the different events and venues. My John, years ago, became very friendly with Larry Jones. When they both shipped into Churchill Downs for various stakes races, they would be stabled together and got to know each other very well. This represents one of the FUN parts that goes along with racing…cultivating the friendships one is able to develop along the way!
Obviously, we are all participating in a sport. The primary objective for everyone is WIN! Thus, you are constantly competing against one another. That is the nature of all sports in general. However, it does not mean that you are not sharing a friendship and a bond with your fellow racing competitors. You are…and the basis for all of this in our sport is the ‘LOVE’ of HORSES. So many people work very hard…and always strive to do their best! I know MY TEAM sincerely wishes others success in all that they do!
On this particular day, there are 2 people MY TEAM and I would love to send our best wishes to for a SPEEDY RECOVERY.
In California, we have a very hands-on trainer named Barry Abrams. Barry came to visit ME when I was at BARN 55…and he is a very dear man. Last Tuesday, he had a very serious surgery. I want to send him a HIGH HOOF and wish him ALL OF THE VERY BEST as he recovers. This is the 2nd time he has had this type of surgery…the last one took place 6 years ago. So, our thoughts are with Barry and his family as he recovers during the upcoming summer months.
Additionally, MY TEAM read that Rosie Napravnik is having surgery this morning on her arm / wrist. Rosie has had a tremendous year winning many races and riding titles. The anticipated time for her recovery is yet unknown. They will have to see how things go, according to the DRF, before they know when she can return to riding. We would like to wish her ALL THE BEST as well!
On a very serious side, I’d like to send all of our friends who may need a HUG a big one. It never ceases to amaze ME how quickly in life things can change…in a moment! To ME, that’s why it is so important to truly enjoy and appreciate the healthy and happy times….as well as being respectful of the challenges that may develop….not only for yourself…but others.
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Rosie and Barry…especially thinking of YOU today!)

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Barry Abrams and Rosie Napravnik. Beautiful picture of Zenny’s face and soulful eyes. It goes perfectly with the topic.

Thanks Z, I really needed that hug. Thank you too, Z team…you are all so thoughtful and caring. I too wish them a speedy and full recovery. What ails me won’t pass but being in your life in this small way is a blessing to me. Thanks Team Z and God Bless you all.

Zenny, thank you for your gentle, kind words in this post. I loved the video of Barry getting close to you at Barn 55. It was clear you two had a lot of respect for each other. I also wish Rosie well as she heads on the road to recovery. Yes, you are “too cute” but in such an endearing way. High Hoofs to Barry, Rosie and everyone who visits this site.
{{{ }}} to you, Zenny and your Dottie for sharing this news.

What a beautiful and mindful post on what is important in life, something Zenyatta and Dottie remind us about every day. My heartfelt thoughts go to Barry and Rosie for successful outcomes to their respective surgeries. Thanks and best wishes to all the loyal posters (Zenyatta lovers) on this site, and a special thanks to Kathryn Cogswell for sending the link to the video of Barry with Zenyatta. Her face and her body language show a being in a Zen-like state of bliss. The connection between them is unbelievable and one neither will ever forget or lose. What a privilege to watch it again and share, vicariously, that incredible love. Best wishes to everyone for a mindful, thoughtful, special day.

Sending up prayers for Barry and Rosie. Thank you, Z, for not making it all about you, but about everyone who needs lifting up.
But it IS still fun when it’s all about you!

HI ZENNY!
I remember seeing pictures of Barry Abrams visiting you at Barn 55… TOO CUTE! I well up with tears when I think of how MANY people YOU have touched! :-)

On the topic of “The Racing Community is like one HUGE FAMILY”… I want to address this topic. There was so much debate about you and Rachel Alexandra… I’m not bringing RA up again to start another “debate”, I just want to say that I so believe YOU and RACHEL would have be the best of friends. It’s not the “nature” of EITHER of you to be enemies. Competitors on the track ~ oh, yes! But if you two hooked up in same paddock, you’d girl talk and I’d be smiling :-D. I just had to get that out there, Zenny. Neither you ,or Rachel, have a “mean bone” in you’re beautiful bodies!!

While visiting Zenyatta at Barn 55, we watched while Barry Abrams massaged Z’s gums for an extended period. She looked so relaxed, enjoying the moment like one getting the best massage. Wishing both Barry and Rosie the very best.

Thank you for letting us know about your dear friends, Zenyatta. I will send good wishes their way for speedy recoveries. You are such a sweet girl.
Stella Bagwell
Dearest Queen,
Your loving heart has always been the thing that stands you apart from other horses. Your message today only proves that even more.
I will send up prayers for Barry and Rosie and hope for their speedy recoveries. Also, I send good wishes out to all the horses who are battling health problems at this time. Without them there would be no racing industry. Or no smiles on the faces of us horse lovers.
Hope you are doing well, beautiful Queen. Enjoy your day!
Love and kisses,
Stel

@Judy Berube- Good one. @Gary Moulton-I respect you too much to take advantage. The answer has already been posted by Judy Berube and Susan in TN. @Linda in NJ-Hope you have the best of times at HP. Just ignore the surrounding area. It was quite nice when the track was built.@Kathryn Cogswell-A Man Called Peter is a great film. Recommended for anyone. However, anyone looking for bombs going off, etc, don’t see it. For the ladies–Why horses are better than husbands–You don’t have to worry that your children will look like your them and horses learn to accept restraint.

@Kathryn thanks so much for sharing the Video about Barry, that brought back memories of my TN Walker that was also 17 hands and I adorhed him so much and he used to love his face rubbed like that. Prays and thoughts are with both Rosie and Barry for a very speedy recovery.
Have a wonderful day beautiful lady, enjoy all that green grass and sunshine.

That should be you don’t gave to worry that your children will look like them @DJ-You can see how I am. Spelling is very difficult, although I suspect that your post was in the form of a joke.

All the best to both of them and as I mostly say : stay healthy Zenny. Our dear mare died 2 years ago due to a severe colic and I will be aware for the rest of my life how fast things can change. Love you Zenny.

I’m with you all the way with this message, dear Zenyatta. I will hope and pray for the health of both of them, and it is so kind of you and Dottie to let us know that you always know life has its ups and downs. Too cute and it’s me are YOU, Zenny, and we love every time you use those phrases. Don’t stop. Never stop being who you are, and that goes for Dottie, too. I’m proud to be in your corner and will never leave it.

well said. Life is too short and so we should always love each other and respect each other as if it was the last time we get to see each other. I hope the best for Rosie and Barry for a quick recovery so they can get back to what they love. The horses. I love you Zenny and your team who is so kind to share you with us. May God keep you all safe and healthy always and thank you for all you do.
