Well, Hello Everyone!
I know it is Sunday and I hope you are all having a relaxing day. I am. I just wanted to share with you a YOUTUBE Sarah did of me. I’m really stretching my legs out in the snow and starting to feel wonderfully comfortable in my new paddock. She has it set to music. Be sure to notice my marvelous dance steps! I’m still being hand-walked…as it is chilly and they do not want me to do too much…like ‘take off’ and slide in the snow. I am having GREAT FUN!
I am also nice and cozy with my friends in the barn when it is too chilly or rainy outside. My racing plates were removed on Thursday. My feet feel fabulous!
Keeneland sent me a large gift bucket of carrots and mints. How generous of them! There is enough here for everyone in my barn. We are one very happy group!
I also have 2 other people at the barn who work with me. I’d like to introduce you to them…Craig and Gieremo. So, lucky me…5 wonderful people here looking after me every single day. Charles, Todd and Andy send their regards to all of you as well.
David stops by quite often. He called Dottie yesterday afternoon while he was here petting me. He just sent the Moss’ a text update. It is wonderful that we are ALL able to keep in touch so often. (Gotta’ love all of this modern technology!) John is now home in CA with all of my other Barn 55 Friends…but we are keeping in close contact. He knows what I am doing every single moment and shares the updates with Mario, Steve, Carmen and his entire crew! He played the video for them at the barn….and they all loved it! My dancing is still such a BIG HIT with everyone! I guess it all started with my rather musical name…ZENYATTA! When spoken out loud, it really has quite a nice rhythm to it!
Enjoy your day!
With love,
Hugs~

What a wonderful winter adventure you are having. You live in a very beautiful place and have so many nice people doing their best to take care of you. So much to see and hear. I bet your feet feel great, as it is always nice to take your shoes off and just feel the ground on your feet. Can’t wait to hear about your new experiences!!

Lady Z, How nice to hear from you on a Sunday. It is very, very, cold stay warm and cozy. Love and hugs

Keep on Dancin my big, beautiful, THOROUGHBRED MARE! I love that you are so generous and sharing your treats with others in your barn. Thank all the humans around you for us for keeping us up-to-date on how your doing. You know we love you, and can’t stand it when we don’t know how you are doing…
Nancy
Dear Zenny,
So happy you are adjusting so well. Am so glad your
family is using that lip chain. You are a very strong young
1200 ish pound girl that might let your thoughts get
away from you. Fortunately you are very smart
and trusting of you new friends as they teach you
about the paddock. My thoroughbred was very
silly sometimes and he did get into trouble. I guess
some fans forgot about Steve’s story of at one race
you got “upset” and were lifting Mario (all 220 lbs)
of him off the hound. That is strong!!!!

Ms Zenyatta, so happy that you are getting along well in the new barn. When your video be posted on your FB? When will we be able to watch it. I will be looking forward to it. I love to watch you walk, prance, dance and race. I love you, Beautiful Lady…Lisa g

Hi Zenny! I looked for you on 60 Minutes last night. Any idea when they might air your story about your move to Lanes End. I can’t wait to see it. Maybe they are waiting for the HOTY award!! Well one of your fans, John Hartley was certainly lucky to see you race 10 times and visit you at the barn. He was a real groupie! Lol. Sure wish I would have had those opportunities. Well send some more pics when you have a chance. And don’t forget to tell us what you want for Christmas! Love, Linda

Zenyatta, the ballots for HOY went out. Only ignorance would not vote for you. You brought to the race track fans who were never fans before. You captured the hearts of children, even children of other trainers. Attendance of the race track went up because of your appearances. You brought to racing what was lacking, heart. As far as your racing, Zenyatta you are the best ever.
Patricia
No Labels needed…Glad to hear from you again today & that John made it safely back to CA.
I’ve been thinking abou this whole HOTY award & I stated previously there really is no other choice but you Zen…you deserve it without question. But in my opinion, you do not need the “label” HOTY to be HOTY! When we think about great people & other horses do we refer to them by their labeling? For instance, when we reference George Washington, we don’t follow his name every time we mention him with “one of America’s greatest President’s.” It is just simply understood. I mention him because I see a lot of similarities with the two of you. Smart, strong, devoted, loving, sensible, & my favorite is humble. You go about your daily activities really just enjoying the moment, appreciating what you have been blessed with…your essence will not change even if you are warded HOTY next month. You will remain gracious, caring, engaging etc.
So for me…I would love to see you receive the award, but it is not needed for you to “go down in hostory” so to speak as “The Great One!” When our children’s, children say the word Zenyatta they will truly understand what that embodies & it is so much more than HOTY 2010!
Thanks again Team Z for all of your sharing!
Jenna
Good morning Z!!!

Good morning Z–
You have the BEST human family to keep us so informed. Otherwise we would be having withdrawal for REAL.
I’m so glad they told us they took off your racing plates. Someone on another blog had asked about that.
You keep dancing, girl, to keep warm. It’s in the 20’s even down here in central Texas.
I know you don’t need any award to be the real HOY, but I want you to get it because you deserve it!!
Love you always.
Alene

Dear sweet Zenyatta. I’m sorry but I simply cannot get past the lip chain. You have always been so friendly and obliging, there is no excuse for this treatment. If there was a need for “a reminder” then a nose chain would be far less cruel. Tell Team Z they must put an end to this before your spirit is broken. We all love you sweet girl, and you need to be treated with respect and kindness ONLY.

So happy to hear Z that you are getting more visits from LE staff. After being in your presence, I’m sure they now know that you are not your typical horse.
Hope your handlers are filming you, sure do miss seeing video of you Z.
Richard
Beautiful video of you enjoying your attention at the barn. It is obvious you are a very loving and affectionate horse. Love the daily logs Z. Please keep us all updated on how you are doing. I sure am looking forward to being able to visit you at some point at the farm
Nancy
Hi Zenyatta. Are you going to unleash those long legs today?
Ella Emery

One thing is sure, ‘Z,’ YOU are NOT alone. And the fact that the Mosses would let John keep you out of racing to permit your ‘growing under yourself’ is very rare, and costly — if you’re only counting the bottom line. And bring you off the track 100% healthy and sound, too. But there is more than one bottom line, and the others lead to community. With people from all over LEF ‘trickling in’ to meet you, baskets of goodies from Keeneland to share with ‘the girls,’ David coming by for a nuzzle, reports flying constantly back and forth: this is the one horse in the world whose human community [‘Z’ Team #1 & ‘Z’ Team #2] never leaves. But it IS kind of like the recipe I tried last night — ‘a cassoulet, if you please — delicious, but baked-on after the 11th hour. So, nothing to do but rest it in warm suds, and leave to soak. Then, this morning? ‘Voila`– easy as pie to rinse! ~ Imagine us crossing a village commons to the meeting house; invited to share our affection and dreams and support with the owners of a national treasure that represents an icon of promises; sometimes, even our wisdom is welcomed. A privilege not one of the other owners of treasures ever offered their public. The treasure is you, ‘Z.’ And while there ARE concerns being responsible for the life of one so rare, we don’t carry those burdens. But we bring our best energies aloft. In Old Script, Caleb was the one who brought back the good report. He didn’t white-wash anything; he said something like, ‘there ARE giants in the earth .. . but with our god . ..’ [here enter your ‘soaking prayer’ of choice — words and meditations acceptable]. Providence has done remarkably for you, Lady. Gathering to acknowledge THAT is, for me, the first order of business. So: grateful for your people — shall we pray? Even Jack Nicholson has said, ‘If the only prayer you ever say is “Thank You,” that will be enough.’ Love, Khc.

Pam Zacek,
Hello Lady Z, glad your doing good, and racing shoes are off your feet, i hope the weather, gets better , so you can go out, in the blue grass, and run around, and feel free as eagle, in flight, I bet you will look, like a free run for you, and I do hope they take a video of that one.. Read up the top some where, that Seattle Slew loved the snow, that was one, nice horse, i knew he would win the triple crown, way back and the woods race, i be my Mom, 20 bucks, he would do it, and she laughed, said no way, i said, bet , and we did , I got my 20 bucks, so, I wish I had done that with, you would have been right again.. You have a great week, and hopefully, you can run in that great blue grass, Keep us posted, glad your sharing with all your barn, mates, good for you, God Bless you,
Bridget
Hello gorgeous!!!! All of the mares at my barn want to know who does your hair? It really flatters your curves!
xoxox!!!! Giermo is a cool name! Hi to your new crew!
Bridget

Jan
Zenyatta,
You are the “Dancing Queen.” Sounds like you are doing well at your new home. So glad to hear you have five people to take care of you.A big Hello goes out to your new handlers, Charles, Todd, Andy, Craig, and Gieremo. Lots of Love from Cypress, Texas.

i have your picture next to secretariat. i have never been so taken by a horse like i am with you. i am an x horse trainer from california. the lip chain is not neccesary. they could put it over your nose. i pray every morning and night that god will keep you safe and healthy. i still think you would be much happier racing. i am against all this but i still will pray for you. god bless you z

In response to Debbie’s comment about the lip chain…understand how you can feel the way you do, but what would be cruel is to let this spirited horse that has been training daily to be a racehorse, to go free to her own accord in an icy paddock. Zen herself explained in her last post why they were chosing this technique & it is to keep her safe. Her new handlers are learning how not only to “handle” her, but how to communicate with her & this shows her that she has to take it easy & she is not on the racetrack anymore. Her handlers do not know yet the meaning of her gestures, posturing, when she does a little dance…this will take time & until they have a certain level of comfort they need to have a more conservative approach. afterall, even though Zen has a lot of human-like qualities, her animal instinct will always supercede rational thought. On a personal note, my 8 year old black lab got killed by a car one week before Christmas last year because he was guided to my neighbors compost…his nose lead him to his final destiny…he was not tninking Mom does not want me crossing the road where it is dangerous & the same can be applied to Zenyatta…I think at this moment in time, her instinct still is to run, to go fast…so it may to you seem cruel, but the Mosses want to keep her 100% as they have stated.

Hey, Z: I just saw the latest video of you and Charles sharing a “moment” in the barn on your Facebook page. It made me feel so very good to see that you two are forming a bond. Whatever Charles was scratching, you really liked it. One short video is worth a thousand words. It’s the best I’ve felt about you’re being at LE. You look truly happy here. Keep those videos coming. They’re just wonderful.
