Good Morning,
I wanted to give you an update on HOW I AM DOING! I am eating very well…no surprise there…and enjoying myself tremendously. My number of treats is being monitored (as it should be) and I am drinking lots of water each day and nothing else.
As you can see, I do have a bit of a BABY BUMP. I am HAPPILY gaining a few pounds…right in the middle. As many of you may know from your own personal experiences, this is what happens when you are having a baby!
In the responses, many of you have asked about my actual breeding date. It was on April 3rd. Time is flying by so quickly. Another fun fact to note is that my paddock pal, Tasty Temptation, was also bred on the very same day. She was bred to Candy Ride and is also in foal.
Thus, Tasty T. and I have a great deal in common. We are both experiencing the exact same stages of our pregnancies together.
In looking at this photo, the clouds look amazing in the background. The sky is gorgeous…and the Kentucky Blue Grass is so lush. My friend, Matt, also looks good! He is so sweet and I so appreciate the fact that he will spend the one-to-one time grazing me like this!
As for ME, I think I look pretty terrific in this picture! (Blush, Blush) My coat looks fabulous, my dapples are glowing and I do think my overall appearance is TOO CUTE!
I’ll keep you posted and updated on what I’m doing as we go along. I’m still very busy with my friends and all of my charity work! The other day Lane’s End told ME that I recently raised $8,500 for a charity named RIDING FOR HOPE. ($2,500 for one of my halters and $6,000 for a visit with ME!)
This organization is one that “is dedicated to improving the quality of life and the health of children and adults with special physical, cognitive, emotional and social needs through therapeutic activities with the horse”. **
I am so grateful to be able to HELP!
This concept of further developing your life in the midst of having a second career, in my case…having a baby, is quite gratifying! I am really trying to use my time wisely to help others and to do my very best to MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z

@Sue Fredrick- Please forgive my above message….I just re-read it and it reads so snooty…as if I am implying that Z is not “sacred” to you….I should have added that I am superstitious…..I never allowed my husband to place a bet on her race days as I did not learn of her until April, 2008 and we had not bet during that time….I didn’t want to jinx her ….in that same light even if it were legally possible…I couldn’t attempt to proffit from her name…I so greatly appreciate your concern and highest compliment…..Thank you very much- Kari.

Dear Margaret:
Read your post about $1 donation to horse rescue and guess the date of Little Z’s birth contest. Good idea. Maybe Dottie would want to get involved in details to organize it? Hugs, J.B.

@Librarian-thank you for you kind words of encouragement…Please overlook my taking so long to reply to you….My brain is shot…lol..
GOOD NEWS!!!- MY Mother has found a home for the piano at a local Church (ashamed I didn’t think of that)…she sings there sometimes and she can now “visit” it anytime she wants….Also if I ever have a place for it again or even my daughter or one of my Grand Children they will give it back….We are thrilled with this outcome…thank you everyone for all of your prayers and kindness….I am deeply touched…

Terry Crow
@Kari Bussell-Great news about the piano. @Charlotte Farmer-With your knowledge of horse history, you probably know this. But in case you don’t, and for others out there, Trigger was the horse that Maid Marian rode in the original Robin Hood movie with Errol Flynn. Roy Rogers bought him shortly after that. @Diana S-I was asleep, us geezers need our rest. I intend to be there on Gold Cup day.@Judy Berube-Thank you so much for the links on the Life at Ten Hearings and Doctor Gerard.@Trina Neagle-I believe you are right about I-5. My apologies to my co-writer, DJ. Thanks for the words on John Shear, a real hero. I believe that Cynthia H is quite familiar with him as he is an employee at Santa Anita.@Judy Berube, Sharon Call, Kathy Kimber, Quarterhossgal and J Smith–In my opinion, the Life at Ten story will not have a satisfactory conclusion. According to the story in the DRF, the Hearing Officer’s decision is not expected for several months and then it will be voted upon by the KHRC. Justice will not be done. Doctor Gerard? Happy horses also poop and this is where his ashes should end up. OK, today’s joke–A man was walking along and he came to a farm. he spotted what he considered to be a beautiful horse in the meadow. He asked the farmer if he could buy the horse. They bargained, and the sale was made. The man then jumps on the horse and says “giddyup.” The horse doesn’t budge. The farmer tells him that this is a different kind of horse. When you want him to run, you say “Praise the Lord” and when you want him to stop you say “Amen.” The man then says “Praise the Lord” and the horse takes off. The horse keeps running till he nears the edge of a cliff. The man finally remembers to say “Amen” and the horse stops right at the edge of the cliff. The man then turns his face up to the sky and says “Praise the Lord.”

Dear Terry Crow:
You got me laughing out loud again. Wish my husband and I could be with you all on July 9th. at HP. What a fun day we would have. All of you enjoy and let me know how the day went. You are so right about the LAT debacle. That last article just muddies the waters more. Hugs, J.B.
Karen Gogue
@Terry Crow
er, I don’t know – ‘we’ may have to bail you out!!! (I’m still laughing – happy horses do poop, and I’m sure DR.Gerard is shoveling, trying to work his way up to stinky air thru tons!

SWEET! PRECIOUS!

@Kari Bussell no need to apologize, just was so impressed with your videos thought it might help. I’m so glad your problem has been resolved in such a marvelous way….prayers do help!

@Trina Nagele: Thank you so much for your concern about Liza. The open letter posted on her site must have been to “friends” only. I am sure she will confirm your request as soon as she can. I really appreciate your response. You are a dear.
@Kari Bussell; My forever friend—I am so thrilled to learn of the happy outcome regarding your family’s piano. Grandfather would have been very happy, I am sure! I knew it would work out for you. See how many people care, and were willing to help? I lit a candle for you several days ago, and must re-light it, with hopes that your move will go smoothly. California hugs
@Linda in NJ: I think you may have missed my previous response to your query. I work at Santa Anita, not Hollywood Park. But please feel free to contact me at nobledancer@sbcglobal.net, if I can be of any help with your forthcoming visit to Southern California. Any one of us would be willing to assist as best we can.
“““““““““““““““““““““““““`I am out of the closet! Several recent posts on the subject have prompted me to confess that—yes—I am a member of the S.S.C.C. (Secret Society of Cemetary Creepers). For those who enjoy poking about historic and oftentimes forgotten graveyards, I would like to recommend a great book, focusing on the equine side of the subject: ETCHED IN STONE, Thoroughbred Memorials, by Lucy Zeh. For all you armchair travelers and those who are planning a trip to Bluegrass Country, It contains brief but very engrossing biographies of racehorse heroes who now frolic in heavenly pastures, plus lovely photos of the stones and monuments which mark their final resting places. It also details the locations of the various farms (with maps), and which horses are buried where. I obtained my copy through Exclusively Equine, via the Bloodhorse site, and it is a $26.95 book now on sale at $4.95. Quite a bargain, for those who may be interested.

@Terry Crow: I just saw your post, as I read the diary up, rather than down (weird?). Nothng like starting the day with a laugh, which you have provided. Thank you! I am so sorry that I will most likely miss meeting you on Gold Cup Day, but hope to make it up at Santa Anita. And you are correct—I am well-acquianted with John Shear He was remarkable even before his coruageous act which unquestionably saved the little girl’s life, and is cherished by everyone who has the privilege to call him friend (and there are many!). AMEN.
DJ
Good morning Sweet “Z”,
Congratulations to Y.O.U. for raising such high $$ for Riding for Hope. You are Definitely a catalyst for making a Difference! I will check back later for hopefully a new hoof-print :)
………………………………….
To Phyllis H: I also like “TOO CUTE”, “BLUSH BLUSH”, “WINK-WINK” and personal favorite..”IT’S ME!” (if I do say so myself :) for all of Z’s Dumplingz.
…………………………………..
To Kari B: Wonderful news for the church and for you regarding the Piano! Even more special to give it another life playing for the Chorus of Angels.
…………………………………..
To Judy M.G., Brenda & Margaret: I love the idea for “Z’s Foal Shower” as a charity gift to less fortunate horses. Another feather in her Derby Hat of love. Can we do it? By the way Brenda, “Expecting Supper” is a great name for a future Dumpling!
…………………………………..
To Terry C: The “Derby Lucy” was great! Especially ‘Round II’ when Bill Holden surprised her with a visit and she put on the ‘putty nose’ and he set it on fire while lighting her cigarette! Also – staying alive with 55…. From birth to 18, a girl needs good parents. From 18-35, she needs good looks. From 35-55 she needs a good personality. From “55” on, she needs good cash!
……………………………………
To the Moss’ and Shirreffs: Good luck tomorrow with Chantal S. aboard Kazamira and Utopian! Hoping to be there at H.P.
…………………………………..
To H.P.: Reserve one order of garlic fries please! mmmm
