Happy Saturday!
This photo is absolutely TOO CUTE! A few days ago, a dear fan of mine, Judy Gadwell, and several of her friends went to BARN 55 to visit MY STALL and see my dear little sister, Eblouissante. Well, while Judy was greeting “E”, she began sniffing Judy’s purse. Lo and behold, Judy started to laugh telling Steve that she had caramel corn in her bag.
The sense of smell must be something that is very well developed in our family. Last year, when I hosted a brunch for charity (The Los Angeles Zoo), I did the same thing. My one guest, Karen, set her purse down on a chair at the end of the table. While I was out grazing and enjoying myself hosting the visit, something kept drawing ME to Karen’s purse.
I walked right over to the table and immediately started to sniff Karen’s bag…just like “E” did with Judy. Suddenly everyone started to laugh and Karen commented…”Oh, I forgot….I brought some baby carrots for Zenyatta and they are in my purse.”
Karen immediately took the carrots out of her bag…..put some on the end of the table…and I began to snack on them. It truly was BRUNCH WITH ZENYATTA!
I find this so interesting. I guess many different types of characteristics can be shared in a family. “E” and I not only have a well-developed sense of smell…but we both have a great sense of taste (loving our treats and food), hearing (wear cotton in our ears), touch (love to be pet and hugged), sight (see everything all of the time).
This family thing is very interesting to ME!
Have a great weekend! Enjoy all of the wonderful stakes races around the country and LET THE SUMMER BEGIN!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~ (Good luck to my pals Cloud Man, Zazu, and Cozi HRosie)

Dear Max:
This is an article on Treasure Beach in the Irish Derby. Mr. O’Brien trains all three finishers. Seville, also Great Grandson of Northern Dancer and Memphis Tennessee, Great, Great Grandson of Norther Dancer. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/63748/clean-sweep-for-obrien-in-irish-derby Hugs, J.B.
Kari Bussell
@Judy Berube- thank you for the link….I have a big thing for Memphis Tennessee for obvious reasons…Love that name!!!lol :)
Barbara Wood
@Amanda G.–Please hug Kathy for me and tell her that MANY of us are praying for her (and you too!). How infuriating and incompetent!
@Kari Bussell–I’m echoing to you what I just wrote to Amanda. Are you ok now? The state of our current world is one thing that makes me escape to this wholesome website every day, where we can all laugh, cry, and uphold each other, while loving OUR Z.
And to YOU, Miss Z, you may never know how far your influence has reached to touch hearts and souls. We are so thankful for YOU! Love you always.

To Kari Bussell:
Well Kari, don’t know how you did it, but you out did YOURSELF with this video. The music; love Luther and the song. You captured Z in every way. Her majesty, power, playfulness, dance strut, kindness and jumping and running for joy. Those photos of Mikey after the 2010 Classic brought tears to my eyes. The zoom shot of Z’s face in the end of the video is priceless. You should be paid for putting this together. Hugs, J.B.

To Kari Bussell:
I think we were posting each other at the same time. You’re welcome. Hugs, J.B.
Kathy Kimber
@KarriBussell: Loved the video if I can stop dabbing tears long enough to tell you. So beautiful Ann Moss really loves her horses doesn’t she it just bloosoms out. But everyone connected with Zeny shows the love. Thanks.

AKarri Bussell: Almost forgot your post up the page hit home closer than you will ever realize. You are a brave women. I decided I’d drink my one cup of coffee each day and just enjoy it and I do. I know the rules and all those do’s and don’ts. Maybe it’s just part of smelling the flowers along the way. There are so many brave and strong people on this site I’m overwhelmed and amazed every single day and blessed that I can come here and read all of it every single day. Thanks so much. Bless you all

To Kathy Kimber:
Blessings to you. Hugs, J.B.

Thank You Kari!!! Boy, those stills of Mike! So heartbreaking! He felt like he let his lady down and took full responsibility. I am in CA. I went into my closet and cried my eyes out that day, then I went for a walk in the late afternoon sunshine. My ipod was playing Moon River, I cried some more! My teen girl almost got in the car to come look for me. That video brought it back, but its all good now! HOY and a beautiful baby on the way! Life is good!!!

Dear Kennedy’s in San Diego:
Thanks for the link to “Baby Boot Camp”. Never realized it involved so much prep to get the yearlings ready. Very interesting. Hugs, J.B.
Max
It was all girl power at the Queen’s Plate today. The filly Inglorious took it with style. She is Northern Dancer progeny in the Storm Cat line. Her trainer is a woman. Girl power indeed.

@Kari Bussell – Thanks so much for posting the link to the Zenyatta video. I tried really hard not to cry when I watched it, but as usual I couldn’t do it. Beautiful video about a beautiful girl.
@Cynthia H – I loved your story about Sweet Tooth.
@Terry Crow – Your joke was hilarious! I don’t know where you keep coming up with these great jokes, but keep them coming. :-)

Sue Fredrick
Hey Zen, another beautiful filly “Inglorious”, by Hennessy out of a Smart Strike mare, just kicked butt, beat all the boys, and won the Queen’s Plate in Canada. Yippee, the fillies rule. As usually all those in the know picked “Check Your Soul”, and said it was a race for second place. Wrong Again!! Just can’t rule out you ladies.
judy berube
Dear Sue Fredrick:
Going to try to post the link of Inglorious winning the Queen’s Plate. Hugs, J.B.
Trina Nagele
@Kari Bussell—You’ve made yet another gloriously beautiful and inspirational video of the Queen! There were pictures I’ve never seen, and as you say, the lyrics go together with the photos (Zenny closing her eyes, Zenny smiling, etc.). A high hoof to you, and thanks for sharing!
Max
@judy berube. Hope that you can find the Queen’s Plate video. It was a really great race. I saw it live and the filly ran a wonderful race. The commentator said that she needed a GPS to get through the traffic. She looked like Zenyatta coming down the stretch to win against an all male field.

Dear Max:
Didn’t she though! Hugs, J.B.

@Judy Berube, thanks I’m not savy with those links yet, you’ll love the race, she’s a real beauty, too bad you can’t get the commentary before, they were all eating their words.

Dear Max:
Guess you’s Inglorious’ Great, Great Grandfather on her Sire Hennesy’s side. You guessed it. Hugs, J. B.

Charlotte Farmer
@Terry Crow – I spoke with Bill Dwyre earlier today letting him know that you had posted per Bill that it was the policy L. A. Time policy not to print addresses, and that I understood. Once again I thanked him again for caring and told him about the Grass Valley Union’s article, that had it not been for him the article would have never happen since for two years the Union had ignored repeated efforts by myself and others to get something printed about Noor.
I told him that Michael Blowen reported, as of last Friday, that they have received $720.00. He seemed disappointed and said he would check into something. I mentioned that Michael had set up every Friday for me to contact him and find out how much to date is being received and would he like me to keep him up on things. He said yes, that he would appreciate that.
@Diana S – I love your post and your bravery for posting your e-mail. As soon as I post this I will get in touch with you. In a prior post I said, if you knew Karen Gogue, then contact her as she has my e-mail and phone number. I love what you said about not messing with Z’s army. Priceless.
@Noor’s Video – I am so glad each of you enjoyed the video of my boy and beautiful Hollywood Park. Every time I enter Noor’s world, 1950, it makes me want to crawl through the microfilm and just live there, at the tracks. What an exciting period it was.
@Newspapers – I sent e-mails with links to Dwyre’s article and the Union to the following with the hopes that they might pick up the piece and run with an additional story:
The Examiner
Lexington Herald-Leader
The Courier-Journal – Louisville
The Saratogian
The Tribune & San Luis Obispo
The Denver Post
The Gazette – Colorado Springs
Baltimore Sun
The L. A. Times has a wide circulation, but it is my hope to expand on what Bill has done and maybe the newspapers might be interested in the piece.
@Zenyatta’s Fans – I don’t know what I would do without each of you. You inspire me to keep pushing forward when at times I get really tired. It is not my story it is Noor’s. To quote from the movie “Secretariat” “I’m his voice.” Now he has Zenaytta’s voices and that is powerful. Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart.
judy berube
Dear Charlotte Farmer:
You’re a special lady and look forward to your posts. I just feel in my heart everything will work out for Noor. Hugs, J.B.
judy berube
Dear Max.:
I know I’m not as savvy on the ancestry of horses as you are, so pardon me if I’m not spot on. But I do see Northern Dancer in an awful lot of pedigrees. He has an amazing legacy. Hugs, J.B.
Trina Nagele
@Charlotte Farmer—Great thinking to contact those other newspapers! High hoof to you! I hope they publish the story.
Trina Nagele
@Judy Berube—Thanks for the link to Inglorious’s brilliant come-from-behind-like-our-Queen victory against the boys in the Queen’s Plate.
@Abigail in Montreal–Hurray!
