Happy Saturday!
This photo is absolutely TOO CUTE! A few days ago, a dear fan of mine, Judy Gadwell, and several of her friends went to BARN 55 to visit MY STALL and see my dear little sister, Eblouissante. Well, while Judy was greeting “E”, she began sniffing Judy’s purse. Lo and behold, Judy started to laugh telling Steve that she had caramel corn in her bag.
The sense of smell must be something that is very well developed in our family. Last year, when I hosted a brunch for charity (The Los Angeles Zoo), I did the same thing. My one guest, Karen, set her purse down on a chair at the end of the table. While I was out grazing and enjoying myself hosting the visit, something kept drawing ME to Karen’s purse.
I walked right over to the table and immediately started to sniff Karen’s bag…just like “E” did with Judy. Suddenly everyone started to laugh and Karen commented…”Oh, I forgot….I brought some baby carrots for Zenyatta and they are in my purse.”
Karen immediately took the carrots out of her bag…..put some on the end of the table…and I began to snack on them. It truly was BRUNCH WITH ZENYATTA!
I find this so interesting. I guess many different types of characteristics can be shared in a family. “E” and I not only have a well-developed sense of smell…but we both have a great sense of taste (loving our treats and food), hearing (wear cotton in our ears), touch (love to be pet and hugged), sight (see everything all of the time).
This family thing is very interesting to ME!
Have a great weekend! Enjoy all of the wonderful stakes races around the country and LET THE SUMMER BEGIN!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~ (Good luck to my pals Cloud Man, Zazu, and Cozi HRosie)

Never in a million years would I have thought to see a picture of us on your diary dear Zenyatta! So tickled though because that means I can now use my favorite quotation of yours,”Blush Blush!” :-) It was extra extra special seeing your stall the morning of the Vanity sweetheart because that was the very first race of yours we went to see, your first Vanity! I hope we represented all of your SoCal racing fans in a way to make you proud of us! I so enjoyed telling your John that this life long racing fan forgets sometimes that it isn’t you talking to us,because your Dottie I’d swear channels you perfectly! Thank you again dear Judy for your generosity by asking if we’d like to join you,and as Maureen,Judy mentioned earlier thank you so much to our kind hearted tour guide,Steve Willard. He told us all about your fabulous little sister Ebby, she truly is as kind as you! Thank you so much John and Dottie too, what wonderful horseracing ambassadors you have become, sharing Zenyatta with us all, still!!

zenny, here’s a shout out to Zasu for a great race today. Let’s give her a high hoof! Loved the pictures of the Dumplings with your Steve and in your old stall. There is something magical about YOU and all who come in touch with anything to do with you. This is such a wonderful place to be…Dottie and your team make it so special.

Great pictures today and the “insider tidbits” of your life and E’s are so much fun to read. I read that Lava Man – oh such a wonderful guy became a stable horse because he missed the track so much after his stem cell treatment. A work??? I will have to add him to my virtual stable. Maybe he just loves to run with the boys and girls. I’m sure you saw him when you were at HP . Your sis is pretty too and I love the similarities. We will all look forward to her racing debut when your John thinks its time!
thanks for the update and video on Noor. My father and uncle loved to go to HP and although they have been gone and I was too little, I’ll almost bet they saw that famous race in 1950. (Guess it’s in the blood because I love to see all of you train, race and run. Next time I go up I hope to see your former home. thanks to Dottie for these wonderful bits of Z and family and congratulations to all the winners today. Glad all had safe rides, however Zazu’s kinda scared me when she was so close to the rail….
Loved seeing the Moss’s silks .

@Amanda Gilliland. Just saw your post from yesterday. Oh my gosh, Amanda, I’m so sorry about your sister. And to think it probably would have been so different if that radiologist hadn’t been so remiss in his reporting. It’s just unthinkable!
@Terry Crow. Still laughing about “unplug the horse”. That one just crept up on me. Thanks for the LOL!
AJ from CA
Congratulations to Zazu and the Mosses. Great to see those familiar racing colors in the winners circle.

Good Evening Queen “Z” I guess that family trait of smell is quite strong! I hope she has a strong smell for a lot of first place wins like her big sister!
Cloud Man ran a wonderful race. Zazu was fabulous. I just love her coat and blue face. She looked spectacular pulling away from Plum Pretty. Great Job! I saw the Mosses in the winner’s cirlce and of course Ann Moss can’t resist kissing and petting her horses. What a kind and loving individual.
Looking forward to seeing Cozi Rosie run tomorrow. I would love to come visit “Ebby” and see your home in Barn 55. Seeing your stall would be very emotional. My eyes well with tears everytime I watch your races. In fact I made my father watch all of your races last weekend. What fun it was. I like the annoucer Vic when he says ” Your looking at a future superstar” boy was that an understatement.
Well off to tend to my dad. Have a wonderful evening.
Hugs and Kisses

Good evening Zenyatta,
well, you out did yourself again, what fun & uplifting.
Your nostrils are the size of truck-lights, I bet your sense of smell can pick up scents with the wind @ you, for a mile.
I hope you get a whole lotta treats from the good folks at LE. :) :) :)
Good luck @ the races and healthy home comings.
Good night Sweetheart, good night

Dearest Sweet “Z”
Congratulations to Cloud Man for a fantastic Place! He looked so beautiful and silky in his chestnut coat, and he ran such a great race..he was right there one more heads up!! We still won on his Place, because of “who he is” of course!! Also..Zazu – Y.O.U. made our day! How precious are you! Just TOO MUCH and TOO LOVELY!! You were so beautiful when you strode in to the finish line with the Moss’s colors that we thought a cold Guinness must be awaitin!! You are a winner all the way around and it was a pleasure to watch and behold the horses that they take such good care of!! I would win too if I were Y.O.U.!! Such a Blessing to see your lovely caretakers in the “Winners Circle” Today!!

Congrats Zazu and the way Cloud Man ran today, he’ll win the head bob next time! Zenny…E looks and acts so much like you. Do all your siblings have the heart to win and the kind gentle nature like you? You dam is something special to have so many great daughters and sons!
You’re going to follow in her footsteps
with your foals! They will be sensational.
Librarian
Just checked in one last time to say good night to Zenyatta, and all the wonderful folks on this site. Congratulations to Zazu for a great job.
@Judy Berube, thanks for the info from the Jockey Club website. I would love to do some research on Nosey Rosey, 2007 isn’t that long ago. And you are so right, no matter how well-prepared you think you are, you miss them terribly when they are gone.
@Sarah Powell, your barn must smell wonderful, with all of those “Roses”. Many years ago, we had a Rosie the Rivetter in the barn, and she was a great jumper. Thanks for the good thoughts about my mom !

Dear Librarian:
You’re welcome. I will try to post the link at Equibase.com that shows Nosey Rosey’s racing record for you. Hugs, J.B.
judy berube
Dear Librarian:
This is Rosey’s race record. You have to click on each one to see the results. But the column to the right lists her finish in each race. Hope this helps. Hugs, J.B. http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbHorseInfo.cfm?refno=6501703®istry=T
