Happy Saturday!
This photo is absolutely TOO CUTE! A few days ago, a dear fan of mine, Judy Gadwell, and several of her friends went to BARN 55 to visit MY STALL and see my dear little sister, Eblouissante. Well, while Judy was greeting “E”, she began sniffing Judy’s purse. Lo and behold, Judy started to laugh telling Steve that she had caramel corn in her bag.
The sense of smell must be something that is very well developed in our family. Last year, when I hosted a brunch for charity (The Los Angeles Zoo), I did the same thing. My one guest, Karen, set her purse down on a chair at the end of the table. While I was out grazing and enjoying myself hosting the visit, something kept drawing ME to Karen’s purse.
I walked right over to the table and immediately started to sniff Karen’s bag…just like “E” did with Judy. Suddenly everyone started to laugh and Karen commented…”Oh, I forgot….I brought some baby carrots for Zenyatta and they are in my purse.”
Karen immediately took the carrots out of her bag…..put some on the end of the table…and I began to snack on them. It truly was BRUNCH WITH ZENYATTA!
I find this so interesting. I guess many different types of characteristics can be shared in a family. “E” and I not only have a well-developed sense of smell…but we both have a great sense of taste (loving our treats and food), hearing (wear cotton in our ears), touch (love to be pet and hugged), sight (see everything all of the time).
This family thing is very interesting to ME!
Have a great weekend! Enjoy all of the wonderful stakes races around the country and LET THE SUMMER BEGIN!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~ (Good luck to my pals Cloud Man, Zazu, and Cozi HRosie)

Hi Zenyatta good afternoon. I hope you and the girls are having a good day. It is cloudy and cool in Ohio so I hope you have some sunshine. I loved the picture of you and Matt. Lucky Matt. I love the pictures of you and E. I know when I had treats at Diane’s farm the horses would always try to get to them. I always thought this was too cute :) I enjoyed feeding them as much as riding. I would run between the stalls so no one was left out. Well sweet one I must get ready for church. You have a fantastic day and I love you bunches. Hugs and Kisses, Shari XXXOOO
@ Sue thanks.
@ Deborah thank you will copy the directions :)
@ Karen thanks.
@ Kimberly wouldn’t it be fun for all the Z fans to meet at the Derby? We would rock the place :)
@ Dawn thanks for the call :)

Dear Queen-Z & Team-Z,
Today’s up-date and photos were very sweet, and such a cute glimpse into your mannerisms…E’s, too.
This morning I received an e-mail notice that one of my All-Time-Favorite Horses had a “work” at SA Race Track!! LAVA MAN!! I couldn’t believe it!! Zenny, did you ever cross-paths with this super horse, at Hollywood Park?? Does this mean that he’s coming out of retirement,at age 10 ??
Hope you all have a great weekend. Happy grazing, Z. Hugs. Fondly, Orajean
Pam Zacek,

Too cute Z !!!!!
Brenda
Those genes are definitely showing in the similarities between you and Ebby – both of you are highly intelligent and are experts at sniffing, seeing and hearing treats when they are anywhere near you. Not to mentions that you both have lovely ears. I’m sure that YOUR JOHN is going to nurture Ebby in the same way that he brought you along – I wonder if it’s a bit of deja vu for him having your sister in his barn, he must be so happy to have Ebby. Not like the teacher who got my sister in her class and said “Oh no, not Brenda’s sister” Victoria has made her pick for the Queen’s Plate tomorrow, she fancies Inglorious and I have picked Check Your Soul so we’ll see who comes out ahead. Have a great weekend Zenny.
sue and tony
Zenny, you can come eat carrots off our table anytime. Just let us know if you need directions. Virginia IS horse country just like Kentucky! Happy Saturday and a high hoof!

Miss Z, you are just too cute!
One summer I had a really loosely woven green straw purse — every time I had it with me he would bite it like he was going at a bale of hay!! Too funny!!
Mary M. Meek
Oh yes Z has a great sense of smell. I had peppermints in my pocket when I visited with her at Churchill Downs and she tried to pick my pockets. So funny!
Arlene
Zenny – Wonderful, fun pictures! You live a full life of love, fun, talent, generousity, perseverance, elegance, beauty, soon to be mother !!! God bless you and your little one always. LOL, Arlene

What fun to open the diary entry today and see some very familiar Southern California faces! What a terrific surprise for Judy Gadwood and her friends!
@Terry Crow: your latest joke featuring David Beckham was a great one (they are ALL good!). Thank you for the smiles.
@Nancy A Nash Coleman: I could not agree with eveything which you said more! Thank God Zenyatta fell into the hands of the Moss’ and John Shirreffs….ditto, Eblouissante.
@Abigail from Montreal: Thank you for the information on Golden Fleece. He was an absolutely exquisite racehorse. I never knew what had happened to him, and am sad to learn that his story came to such a premature end. It is all the more reason to root Cozi Rosie home!
Best of luck to Cloud Man and Zazu at Hollywood Park today!
Lynn ..... (nearby Hwd Park) California
Oh Zenny, it is a huge joy to see photos and stories nearly every day! :)
You are so awesome, the sweetest mare ever. I love coming here to see what’s happening.
Zennyland fans brings so much too (with links).
When Ebby has her 1st race, I’m going to see her race in person. As long as it’s in Calif.
Dawn Conrad
Dearest, Zenyatta. Happy Saturday, Miss Sunshine, you have such a warm glow in the last group of pictures at LE. Hope you are having a fantastic day playing in your paddock and yes getting dirty, that’s what makes it even better. Enjoyed seeing the picture of more Z fans visiting Barn 55. Steve was in the shot too, how wonderful to see him! It had to be so special for Judy and everyone else!! Eblouissante was looking her lovely self. The story you told concerning the similarities between the two of you is just TOO FUN!! From appearances, I believe you may have one more similarity, that of being rather mischievous. :) As I was saying yesterday, it is all about opening yourself up to the possibilities of life. I envy you and Ebby, because you both live entirely in the moment. You pay attention to everything that is happening around you; observing much more than we mere mortals do with your heightened ability to see, hear, smell and feel the surrounding energy. You do not dwell on yesterday or think about tomorrow. You just savor the momentary facts of things, am I safe and sound, do I have food and water, soft straw to sleep on, outdoor exercise, warm sunshine, a soft breeze, friends (equine and human), treats and love. What more could we ask for? Maybe that is why we feel so wonderful when we hug a horse, Zenny. You transport us out of the real world we are in and allow us to be truly present in a shared moment with you. Everything that weighs us down, simple disappears and we become present in our own lives. What an example you set, Zenny. In today’s often troubled world, it is certainly a lesson we humans could take to heart. Thank you again, Zenyatta, for sharing your wonderful life. Dottie and you work so well together communicating with us, but then Dottie is pretty amazing!! Congrats on reaching over 86,000 on Facebook. Bye for now my love. Sweet dreams. Hug and kisses. XXXOOO
@Amanda Gilliland – Your Kathy’s story was heartbreaking. I will be praying for both of you!!
@Frankie – Many blessings to you our little angel. You experienced so much pain in your short life, yet there was also love beyond measure. May you be at peace in God’s arms.
@Kim S and Susan in TN – Your rescue work is amazing. BRAVO!
@Karen Mitchell – So… good to hear from you. You description of a Z kiss was so great; I could almost feel it myself. :)
@Sue Fredrick – Thank you for the reminder about the statues at the Thoroughbred Park. This will be my fourth visit to the Lexington area; I usually spend about a week each visit, so I am very familiar with a lot of the sites and farms. Do you believe I have never made it to the park and seen the statues? I will have to add it to my plans.
@Terry Crow – Thank you so much for bringing a dose of laughter to us. I enjoy it very much!
@Linda in NJ – Hope everything is wonderful with you.
@Abigail from Montreal – Your writing and attention to detail is fantastic! Once again, thank you for sharing such a gift with us.
@Helen – Your son must have been a very remarkable person to write such touching words. Blessings to you.

Maddie said it “tickled” lol :-D

FYI that was the first poster I made for Zenyatta. You can’t see the top small letters: “Girly Girl” ~ so true! This was also the day I felt a tap on my shoulder… it was ANN MOSS! She asked me to join them in the winner’s circle… SURREAL is an understatement!!! I’m in the winner’s cirle with QUEEN ZENYATTA!! TOO CUTE!!!

@Noor with write-up, picture, and video – Here is a link to an article that appeared in the Grass Valley Union today about Noor and the plans to relocate him. It has a picture of Noor with his trainer Burley Parke and a video that you can watch, of Noor in the December 1950 Hollywood Gold Cup, which he won.

Dear Charlotte Farmer:
Thank you so much for the link and video on Noor. Do you think maybe Z saw this film and that’s where she got her style of running? What a thrilling race. He was something else. Hugs, J.B.
