Happy Saturday!
This photo is absolutely TOO CUTE! A few days ago, a dear fan of mine, Judy Gadwell, and several of her friends went to BARN 55 to visit MY STALL and see my dear little sister, Eblouissante. Well, while Judy was greeting “E”, she began sniffing Judy’s purse. Lo and behold, Judy started to laugh telling Steve that she had caramel corn in her bag.
The sense of smell must be something that is very well developed in our family. Last year, when I hosted a brunch for charity (The Los Angeles Zoo), I did the same thing. My one guest, Karen, set her purse down on a chair at the end of the table. While I was out grazing and enjoying myself hosting the visit, something kept drawing ME to Karen’s purse.
I walked right over to the table and immediately started to sniff Karen’s bag…just like “E” did with Judy. Suddenly everyone started to laugh and Karen commented…”Oh, I forgot….I brought some baby carrots for Zenyatta and they are in my purse.”
Karen immediately took the carrots out of her bag…..put some on the end of the table…and I began to snack on them. It truly was BRUNCH WITH ZENYATTA!
I find this so interesting. I guess many different types of characteristics can be shared in a family. “E” and I not only have a well-developed sense of smell…but we both have a great sense of taste (loving our treats and food), hearing (wear cotton in our ears), touch (love to be pet and hugged), sight (see everything all of the time).
This family thing is very interesting to ME!
Have a great weekend! Enjoy all of the wonderful stakes races around the country and LET THE SUMMER BEGIN!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~ (Good luck to my pals Cloud Man, Zazu, and Cozi HRosie)

Wow, Z! I’m currently training a puppy to be a Search and Rescue dog. Hope her nose turns out to be as good as yours. By the way, we’re naming the next puppy (hopefully to be born in December) after YOU! Hope you don’t mind a little Labrador Retriever Zenyatta!

Dear Z,
Looks like you and E share a lot of personality traits. For sure you are both beautiful, gentle and kind. It is very nice to see a photo of Judy Gadwell. It’s good to meet another Z Fan, if only in a photo. Love you and love to all of you, Judy and Russ

Happy Saturday Queen Z! So glad E is with JOhn and his special care! Too cute about your senses. Intelligent, talented girls you are!
Would Lanes End or your family allow any of us fans to video call you via Skype or Tango? We know we can’t come to see you now so maybe we could do this as an option? Could you please ask them?
We love you so much and just want to be part of your life forever! You have touched us all….I fell in love the very first time I saw you! Your amazing!

Hi Zen..hope you are having a GREAT Saturday. It sure would be wonderful if L.E. let you have visitors, as that would be a #1 visit on my list. Thanks Dottie for the great posts and love to Zenyatta. XOXOXO

You two really are “too cute!” I’ve really enjoyed getting the little bits of info on Eblouissante’s early days of training … my hubby & I have been speculating as to how “your John” will handle her … hubby was thinking like a lot of people do about how quickly she could be ready … I told him that E is gonna be another big gal & that I think John will definitely let her grow into her body & get strong before he pushes her into any races … we all know that he is a very patient trainer and that with your training he proved the quality over quickness as far as getting horses into races … I truly do not believe that your career would have been as long or as spectacular under any other trainer … any who did not allow you to grow into yourself first that is! I’m so thankful that he & the Mosses took that route for you … I believe it not only added to your success but, probably put years onto the backside of your life as well as good health now and down the road! Kudoes again to the whole gang there at Barn 55 and the Mosses as well … and I will be happy to wait to see what Eblouissante has in her tank until John thinks she’s ready … just please keep feeding us tidbits about her! And, you two are both adorable with your treat detectors in full force! You ALWAYS put a smile on my face! And, again, many thanks to Dottie for taking time out of her busy days to keep us up to date on “our” wonderful Zgirl!!!! Much love to you all! :)

Zenny, hope your fine and enjoing sun and blue grass. If I ever come to America I surely will visit barn 55. Sending you hugs. Love you Zenny.

Hi Big Mama, I love it that you and Dottie share your podium with your barn pals because we are all so glad to fill the void your retirement has left. We eagerly soak up any information that you pass on to us and are anxiously awaiting Ebby’s first start, and rooting for the Mosses and any of John’s horses.
Hope you passed on my idea of the “buck for a kiss” booth and it is under consideration.
Luv and kisses on your nose

You’re such a family girl – love hearing about you and your family and seeing pics. Such a fun post today – it’s fun to see pictures of your fans and put faces with names also. Enjoy your weekend! Isn’t the rule that you get extra treats on the weekend?! (thanks Dottie and John for sharing pictures)
@ Nancy Coleman I couldn’t agree with you more. I have said many times that I feel that John is responsible for bringing her through so many races with both success and sound health. I’m sure he will do the same for little E as well as any other of his “students.”

You are just too darned CUTE beyond words! I’m hoping that Lane’s End will let us visit you soon! I wanna see your baby bump, sister! Much love to you – sure do miss you on the race track…this year, but I know YOU are having fun! Blessing to you, the Sheriffs, and the Mosses for sharing you to the world! You are so loved…

ah retirement – time for smelling the roses, the caramel corn and the baby carrots!! My retirement begins in 48 hours!!! whee

I am so envious that some of the group got to visit Barn 55. I have not been in the barn area since my mother quit racing horses. Another joke for today–Stop me if you’ve heard it–The way I heard this one it involved David Beckham, but you can substitute any well known person not associated with riding horses. David Beckham decides he is tired of soccer, or football as it is sometimes called, and wants to be a jockey. Seeing his first horse ever, he skillfully mounts the steed and appears to be in complete control as the horse gallops along at a steady pace. Victoria admiringly watches her husband. After a short time, David gets a little casual and he starts to lose his grip. He panics and grabs the horse around its neck, shouting for it to stop. Victoria starts to scream and shouts for someone to help her husband. Hearing her screams, a security guard comes out of the store and unplugs the horse.

You’re just an all around sensitive gal! E is a cutie too. Maybe someday she’ll get your stall…but not for a long time.
Thank you, Dottie, for everything.
Happy Saturday, pretty girl.

Happy Saturday Zenny. You and E are TOO CUTE when on the Sniff Patrol :)
@Amanda Gilliland–so so sorry to hear about your sister-in-law Kathy. Unfortunately, with my Dad’s illnesses and cancer, I have seen this with doctors all too often. Or I should say with some doctors. I think some are just apathetic and or greedy to do their best. Thoughts and prayers to you, Kathy and your family.
@Terry Crow–thanks, got my chuckle for the day.
Off to a friends for relaxation and dinner, will try to check in later tonight to see what other treats you’ve sniffed out :)
Have a great race filled day Zenny. Hope everyone picks a winner.
Lotsa love to all

@Terry Crow–just saw your post from a few minutes ago, I LOL at that one :)

Hey Big Mama Z! I hope “E” has your will to win! That will be SO MUCH FUN! She’s beautiful, just like you. I will be watching for your “pals” Cloud Man, Zazu and Cozi Rosie. Love when your John has horses running. I always like rooting for him.

THIS WAS SO FUNNY, ZENNIE . YOU AND E. ARE THE SNACK GIRLS OF THE COUNTRY. I REMEMBER A BLACK SMITH TRIMMING MY HORSE, MAGNUM, HE GAVE A PIECE OF TOBACCO TO THE HORSE AND STARTED WORK. I GUESS MAGNUM SMELLED THE POUCH IN HIS BACK POCKET AND PINCHED THE GUYS BUTT TRYING TO GET MORE. WE BOTH LAUGHED. NO MORE KEEPING STUFF IN YOUR BACK POCKET WHEN TRIMMING HOOVES. LOVE TO ALL. SHERRY DRISH. WV.

Hi Zenny, I hope you and “Wink Wink” are doing fine, on this fine Saturday!

To Terry Crow:
Sad to say your story about Dr. Gerard(Girard) and the jail time he received for fraud is not surprising. Some Racing Associations (New York for example) are just now starting to enforce jail sentences for horse owners/trainers guilty of cruelty and neglect. It seems the powers that be never dole out punishment equal to the crime. Hugs, J.B.
PS: Left you a joke on Diary #281.
