Good Morning All,
Yesterday, as further details and reports were published in relation to the tornado and Churchill Downs, it continued to amaze ME that there were no injuries of note to human or horse. The photos published during the day showed the level of damage… and it truly was miraculous! Thank goodness for the quick reactions and assistance by so many wonderful people. Also, it was mentioned that the actual construction of the Churchill Barns…with the hay storage areas located above the stalls being so strong and well built…added to the safety of so many horses in this storm.
There is a phrase MY TEAM often reflects upon when hearing certain things like this and it is LUCKY US! This thought certainly applies at this time to this situation.
I must say, I was so touched by your comments yesterday referring to GRATITUDE, CHERISHING THE LITTLE THINGS and BEING THANKFUL! These feelings and emotions are so important to practice in life.
With this thought in mind, I truly want to again express how THANKFUL I am for ALL of the wonderful people I have and have had in my life. On so many levels, it certainly has been a bit of work to get ME to the place where I am today. I do understand that I have talent, but I am also fully aware of the fact that I could not have done it by just having talent or by myself. So much in life depends upon people working together for the best interest of one individual or another or the greater good for many.
Thus, while grazing, the thought occurred to me to THANK my pal at Lane’s End, MATT, for being so terrific to ME. So I did! I walked right over to him and gave him a BIG KISS. I must say, I do think this caught him a bit by surprise. As you can see in this photo, I made him laugh. I think at this moment, Matt truly thought I was TOO CUTE!
This morning, Dottie mentioned that I currently have over 86,000 Face Book Friends! Wow…I am deeply touched by this number!
I’m sending each of you a BIG THANK-YOU KISS too!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(All 86,131 of YOU!)

Oh Z, Matt is very cute. I think he likes you. What a lucky man he is. Bernie might get jealous, oh well. Thanks Matt for taking care of the Queen. Hugs and Kisses and a little peck for the foal

Dear Susan in Tn.:
Glad you enjoyed the slide show. Left you a post on Diary #280 about the REFHR Newsletter. It’s very well done. Hugs, J.B.

Zenyatta seems so close in this pic, like you are righ there and could reach over and stroke her neck. If I had a Zenyatta kiss, I’d never wash my face again.

@ ALL HORSE LOVERS ~ Update on LIFE AT TEN. Another one of Zenny’s girl friends! :-(
“There was no post-race drug testing of Life At Ten, and the following day Pletcher said the filly apparently had an allergic reaction to anti-bleeder medication she was administered prior to the race.”

No other girl will ever kiss Matt like you. He was probably in 7th heaven and telling all his friends who had kissed him. All the men must envy him.

How cute and I must say Matt looks pretty cute too! :) There is nothing like horse kisses. He is one lucky man to get to spend so much time with you. That is a wish on my bucket list to give you a big kiss on the nose and see you in person. Maybe someday, dreams do come true you know. Until then stay happy, healthy and thank you so much for keeping us in your loop.

Zenny – Thank you for my KISS. I will cherish it. I can only imagine how Matt felt with your spontaneity. What a pleasant surprise! Your team is so thoughtful about the conditions other people find themselves in. As you said, luckily, no one was hurt in the tornado that touched down at Churchill Downs.
I hope that you had a great day today. Hugs and Kisses from one of your MANY fans. Joan

@Judy Maass Gadwood-Thanks so much for posting the link on the Life At Ten situation regarding her race in the Breeders Cup. I have absolutely no faith in the authorities coming up with a proper solution in this case. Over a million dollars was bet on this horse, who did not have a chance and was not persevered with. The public was defrauded. Some heads should roll. Anyone interested should just look at a video of that race.@Kathy Kimber and Judy Berube–A man calls in a vet to check on his horse. “Do you think I can race him again, doctor?” “Yes, surely, said the vet. And, you will probably beat him too.”

Good Luck – Cloud Man and Zazu in your individual races tomorrow.
I will be praying for a great and safe race. Marilu

Oh Zenny, I love you so much. Matt is such a lucky guy. I wish I could trade jobs with him. I wouldn’t even care what it paid. Being around you all the time would be absolutely priceless! I love you big girl! :-)
@Debbi M – I loved your story. I can relate. I have one room filled with nothing but horse memorabilia and pictures (most of them Zenyatta), as well as a few other pictures scattered about the house. I only have one picture out of my family! Us fellow Zennyites definitely understand how you feel. :-)
@Shari Volz – How exciting that you’re coming to KY! It sounds like you’ve gotten excellent advice on what to see and do while you’re here. I hope you have a wonderful time! :-)

@Judy (Maass Gadwood) and all Z fans. Here is a link to an interesting article in today’s DRF by Steven Crist concerning Lasix and it’s use on American racehorses. It gives a different perspective to the ongoing argument. Hope you enjoy.

Hi, Zenyatta,
I think everyone here would love to change places with Matt for just one day! He’s so fortunate to be your friend. He is one lucky guy!
I love your thoughts on gratitude and also on teamwork. As they used to say, “Ride for the brand” but alas, many don’t believe in that.
Have a wonderful weekend! Hope the sun shines all weekend and you get to spend many hours grazing.
Judy (Maass) Gadwood ~ CA
@ Trina Nagele – thanks girl friend! I caught my error AFTER I posted about COZI ;-D

Zenny, I think you made Matt BLUSH BLUSH, lucky guy! What a blessing to have all the track residents, (human & horse), saved from harms way at CD. @ I think Terry Crow. Thank you for the link on Reckless. It gave me chills. Such a courageous little horse! I have read everything a fan of horse history & stories could get their hands on since I was a little girl and had never even heard of her. How sad. Can’t believe Disney didn’t come up with something about Reckless back in the late 50’s or early 60’s. Remember Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color one hour specials and movies? Me neither but I’ve heard stories. . .LOL Love & Peace Z

Matt & a remarkable mare with a wet mane — one of her best pics, from this vantage. Very glad the heavy beams of CD`s older barns held out against the winds.

Looks like Zenyatta knows a cutie-pie when she sees one.

@Shari Volz – I did think of something else you would probably enjoy on your trip to KY. If you have time, take a drive down Old Frankfort Pike. It is one of the most beautiful roads you’ll ever see. There is just one horse farm after another for miles and miles. It runs between Lexington and Frankfort. Three Chimneys and Stonestreet are on it, as well as Lane’s End broodmare section. When you get to the 4-way stop, that road takes you to Lane’s End stallion section in one direction and Darley in the other, as well as the quaint little town of Midway. It’s too bad you only have two days here. Enjoy! :-)

thanks Zenyatta for the “hug!”

Lucky Matt. :) Have a good weekend Big Beautiful Mama.

You do so much for me each and every day Zenyatta, the thinking of you keeps me going and makes my day lighter.
I love you so much sweetie! Have a super wonderful weekend and I would love a kiss from you-lucky Matt!

Zenyatta – you are such a big, beautiful girl. I just love that you are so tall. I’m not at 5ft 2 and l/2 – hey the l/2 is important. When my friend and I would go see you race at Hollywood Park , Santa Anita and Del Mar, I would ALWAYS go down 2 or 3 races early to stake out the best vantage point. It was such a thrill to see you prance by with Mike! You look fabulous and Matt is a lucky fella. Love the picture. Thank you Dottie and Zenyatta for such inspiring words.
Good luck to Zazu tomorrow!
