Hello Everyone,
Even though I am technically ‘relaxing’ and in foal living at Lane’s End Farm…I am still one very PLAYFUL GIRL! I simply can’t resist teasing my pal, Charles, and checking out all of his pockets for treats. He did have some of my very favorites….but I had to check out so many places to find them. That CHARLES is such a tease…just like MY MARIO was!
As you can see by my guys and their clothing, it is rather warm in Kentucky now. As I am a California girl at heart, I do love the warm weather. It is perfect for me! My friends from the cooler climates are currently acclimating to it! We get to go outside for most of the day now…even into the early evening hours. It is absolutely delightful!
It also stays light later now in Lexington. So this even adds to our fabulous time outdoors. As you may remember from my time at Barn 55….I loved to just stand outside and look around. I could do this for an endless amount of time and be happy. Now, I’m getting to stay outside for most of the day…and it is very special to ME!
I also wanted to explain that Lane’s End does have a basic dress code for all of the staff to follow while on duty at the farm. It is primarily a green shirt and some type of khaki colored slacks or shorts. It is really a very attractive look…and ties in beautifully with the farm colors. That is why so often in these photos, you will see this type of apparel! I must say, my guys look great in these colors and this attire!
Plus, they have so many pockets for ME to play with and check out each day! I just love it!
Have a fun-filled Wednesday! Perhaps you can spend some time checking out many of the things you love to do most!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

your so cute Zenny. I love your personality so much it makes you even more special. I am sure those guys love spending time with you and that it is a dream come true for them. I hope the bad weather didnt get close to you tonight and lets all pray for our other horse friends, the people who care for them and live a churchill downs tonight. A bad tornado hit there and a bunch of them are loose and running around and trapped in the barns. so pray for them all that they are safe and returned to a safe stall soon.

Dearest Zenny, I hope you are staying warm, dry and safe on this stormy evening in Kentucky, and I hope none of your equine friends who were at Churchill got any injuries. Hope you sleep tight till morning.
@Chris H.—I’m so glad to hear that your miracle foal and her mom are doing well.
@Brenda—Cute story about staying out of sight and hearing while your daughter is having her lesson so the horse won’t come looking for treats!
@Kathy Kimber—That’s great news that service dogs get to come home from overseas and sat with their handler’s family now.
@Cynthia H— Great fun post!

Zenyatta I am soo concerned about you! Are you OK??? I just heard about the tornado that hit Churchill Downs and how bad the system is in Kentucky (1:25 am Eastern). No reports of injuried horses at Churchill. I hope all of them are OK. I did here that some were loose. How frightening this must be!! I have been in them in while attending University of Georgia and also had one at the end of the street in Virginia when at my parents house. They are very scary!!! Do they have a storm shelter for you and the other horses? Don’t get in a ditch; it just fills up with water from the torrential rain that comes with the tornado. I found that out!! Please let us know you are safe!!!

Hello, Beautiful! Lady Z, you look so CUTE- uh, make that TOO Cute!! Thanks Sarah, for the great photos!
@Judy Berube: I looked for an update on R Heat Lightning, too. Came up empty. Hope she is recovering well.
@Chris H.: So glad your little Miracle foal and her mother are doing well! Yay!
@Terry Crow: Many thanks for informative insights and for your TOO funny stories!
@Shari Voltz: Happy to hear that the news is good for now! Stay well!
@Charlotte Farmer: Kudos and much appreciation for your efforts on behalf of Noor!
@Cindi Anderson: What an awful thing to have happened — only a human animal would do such a despicable act! I sincerely hope Maggie can mend! I will send something to the Loomis Basin Veterinary Emergency Hospital to help with her medical costs. The phone number is 916-652-5816 for anyone who wants to help Maggie and her owner.
Thanks to all on this website for the kindness and caring you give!
Cheers and Hugs!
Maria K.
Queen Z, you’re too cute! That is why I love you sooo much! Enjoy the outside.

Dottie, although Churchill Downs is in Louisville, it’s close enough, so would like to second the request for a current Zenyatta/Lanes End report. My prayers for all who were at the Twin Spires when the tornado struck. Zenyatta stay safe!

Dear Z fans, You all know what wonderful links Judy Berube provides for us every day. The following is my effort to explain the COPY and PASTE functions so Judy doesn’t have to type the links anymore.
@JUDY BERUBE—-This is how I post links using copy and paste. I hope this works for you too.
When I am on a website that I want to link to, I use my mouse to put the cursor arrow on the website address (in the extreme upper left-hand corner of the screen) and then I left-click on it. This “highlights” the address. Then I use the keyboard to ask the computer to COPY the highlighted address by holding down the CTRL key (short for “Control”) and then (without releasing the CTRL key) pressing the C key (here, C is for Copy). Then I release the C key before I release the CTRL key. Next I go to the spot where I want the link to appear in my text, and I left-click on the mouse to put the “insertion point” (the vertical line that the cursor arrow changes into when you position it in a text) there. Then I hold down the CTRL key again, and this time (without releasing the CTRL key) I press the V key to paste the copied address into my text. On my computer, it just looks like an ordinary black font text, but when I click on the POST button, Zenny automatically activates it as a true link that people only need to click on.
If I want to copy and paste some text from an article, I “highlight” the text by placing the insertion point at the beginning, then holding the left part of the mouse down while I “drag” the insertion point by moving the mouse over and down to the end of the text that I want to copy, then releasing the mouse. Once the text is “highlighted,” the procedure to COPY and PASTE is the same as above.
There are other ways to highlight text, but this should serve to get you started. There is also another way to do the COPY and PASTE using the toolbar, if you prefer. Again, you first highlight what you want to copy, then using the mouse left-click on EDIT on the toolbar at the top of the screen. A list will drop down. The fourth option down (on my computer) is COPY. Left-click on COPY. Then place the insertion point where you want the text to go and left-click. Then move the cursor back to EDIT and left-click. The list will drop down again, and you left-click on PASTE (the fifth option down on my computer).
I used to be able to see the toolbar when I was on a website, but I have a new operating program and the toolbar disappeared, so now I use the keyboard to do my copy and paste when I am on a website. I often compose my comments for Zenyatta in a WORD document (there the toolbar is visible still) and then copy and paste it into the comment box on Zenyatta’s webpage.
By the way, if you want to read the diary in a larger font size, you can copy comments from Zenyatta’s page and paste them into a WORD document, then highlight all of what you pasted by holding down the CTRL key and hitting the A key (A for ALL). Then you can change it all to a larger font by left-clicking on FORMAT on the toolbar, then left-clicking on FONT in the drop-down list, then left-clicking on the SIZE that you want, then left-clicking on OK at the bottom of the box. Choosing a larger size like 14 can make reading the comments easier on older eyes like mine.

12:29AM 23June11: As always bringing up the rear. Just finished #276 and so just want to mention a couple things before going to bed and coming back tomorrow. Terry Crow is the hero for making the call to Mr. Dwyer. Being a bee in his bonnet (or his “muse” – I love it!) was a minor thing for me.
Charlotte – what I really would like to do is somehow get the route Noor will take on his final journey and line up TV news stations all along the way to cover it – ending at Old Friends. What a great feel good story and I think most news stations would love it. And it might really bring more light to the plight of racehorses, rescues, and respect for those that have passed. I will see if I can spark something (Yikes, I haven’t even read the article yet!) via a couple of AZ media connections.
Now fun stuff – by sliding my California visit a couple days later, I can go to the Hollywood Gold Cup on July 9th. Any Dumplings wanna meet me there? Mr. Crow, you are a Dumpling, so hope you can be there too! Maybe s’more D-Day conjuring too? sleepy diastu in tempe

So tired I forgot: Friends lost houses and wonderful birding habitat in the fires at both ends of the state. Thank you for prayers and wishes for AZ and NM fire victims, especially the non-two-legged people. Also was scared to death today when tornado hit Churchill. My worry beads are working overtime. diastu

Hi Z – You look really good and enjoy the nice weather. It’s cute about the treats and hope you find them!.

‘Don`t get in a ditch . ..’ Dear Cheryl Kleist [^]: what a watch-word for life . .. & pithy. ~ Up late, up early, tap-dancing & walking on eggs the better to re-say that among good oversight for her gestation & delivery, it`s not my call to claim proprietary directives for whether or no ‘Z`s’ term is filmed or streamed or viewed externally via space-watch mechanics; never meant it so. [For me & mine only did past statements apply. She is neither, but since respect & appreciation for her remains an option, and frosting on a nice slice of a lifetime appreciating horse sense & sensibilities — equine &/or humane — it was an opinion]. Somebody saying this better & more genially getting the point across is the meaningful point to merit, and the more useful in the long run.

Ms Zenyatta, please let us know that you are ok, and all the beautiful horses and people in Louisville. I did not know there was a tornado. I love you and will check back often to see your post saying taht you are find and were not scared.
Thank you for the links.
Lil from KY
tO ALL z’ERS—aLL IS WELL with dear Zenyatta, storm was in Louisville area, not Versailles. All horses & workers are safe. the horses that were running loose, were all caught & uninjured. Keeneland & other places have offered their facilities for shelters, so all horses & people are fine. There has been some heavy damage to some of the barns. Power has been out& many trees down.
Zen—Love to you & all at Lane’s End
Brenda
9.00am Thursday – Just catching up on the news from the posts I didn’t read before I went to bed last night to learn about the tornado. Thank you Lil from KY for your post letting us know that the Lexington area wasn’t hit and that Zenyatta is safe. Now I can go about my day without stressing over her.
Brenda
So agitated that I forget to say thanks for the good news that all horses and humans are safe. Hugs and kisses from Fort Erie Zenny.

Good morning Zenyatta. Love the pictures you are a mischievous girl. (Too Cute). I saw on the news this morning about Churchill Downs. I also read in Blood Horse that people and horses were ok just a lot of damage. Thank the good Lord no lives were lost. I was so thankful that you sweet girl live at Lane’s End. We have tornado drills in school because East Liverpool is in the tornado belt for Ohio. Well my sweet queen I had a really hot run this morning but I pushed out 5 miles Yea :) Just love to run. I now have to wait on the gas company. They are replacing everyones meters in my neighborhood. Take care and I pray you have a safe and sunny day. I love you and send many Hugs and Kisses, Shari
@ Hi sweet Susan. I emailed you.
@ Hi Dawn I emailed you too.

@Judy(Maass)Gadwood: I went to some harness racing sites and found videos of See You at Peelers. She is a big strong filly just like our Zenyatta, bides her time (though it seems with those sulkies to manuever around no one wants to be too far back) then blows everyone away. This also reminds me of my childhood Marguerite Henry books and her stories about all kinds of horses, and all as full of heart as Zenyatta (or close, no horse matches the Queen). Read here everyday but don’t post much.

I just saw the YouTube video about Sgt. Reckless posted here yesterday. There is a Sgt. Reckless web page honoring this brave horse. Her fans at Camp Pendleton are trying to raise money for a memorial to her, i.e., a proper tomb stone & perhaps statue.http://www.sgtreckless.com/Reckless/Sgt_Reckess_Memorial_Fund.html This is the link. Perhaps Zenyatta fans will make a few donations in honor of this mare who served our soldiers so bravely during the Korean conflict.
