Hello Everyone,
Even though I am technically ‘relaxing’ and in foal living at Lane’s End Farm…I am still one very PLAYFUL GIRL! I simply can’t resist teasing my pal, Charles, and checking out all of his pockets for treats. He did have some of my very favorites….but I had to check out so many places to find them. That CHARLES is such a tease…just like MY MARIO was!
As you can see by my guys and their clothing, it is rather warm in Kentucky now. As I am a California girl at heart, I do love the warm weather. It is perfect for me! My friends from the cooler climates are currently acclimating to it! We get to go outside for most of the day now…even into the early evening hours. It is absolutely delightful!
It also stays light later now in Lexington. So this even adds to our fabulous time outdoors. As you may remember from my time at Barn 55….I loved to just stand outside and look around. I could do this for an endless amount of time and be happy. Now, I’m getting to stay outside for most of the day…and it is very special to ME!
I also wanted to explain that Lane’s End does have a basic dress code for all of the staff to follow while on duty at the farm. It is primarily a green shirt and some type of khaki colored slacks or shorts. It is really a very attractive look…and ties in beautifully with the farm colors. That is why so often in these photos, you will see this type of apparel! I must say, my guys look great in these colors and this attire!
Plus, they have so many pockets for ME to play with and check out each day! I just love it!
Have a fun-filled Wednesday! Perhaps you can spend some time checking out many of the things you love to do most!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dearest Zenyatta. What a fun picture Sarah has captured of you. You are absolutely TOO CUTE, Zenny. Dottie captured your mischievous side perfectly. Love all of the pictures. It is much easier to imagine you at Lane’s End when we get so many wonderful visuals. Charles is such a lucky man to get to play hide and go seek with you beautiful. I still remember the first time that Mike visited you. Even with his great jockey skills, he was having to hurry to keep those mints coming. Loved the hug you were giving him while he was busy unwrapping. Priceless! I am sure you had another great day getting to spend so much time outside eating your tasty treat of grass. You deserve the best of the best. All my love. Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@HELLO TO MY WONDERFUL Z FRIENDS, LOVE TO YOU ALL!!!
@Shari – Loved hearing from you and so happy that everything is looking good so far. Hooves crossed and many prayers that the next procedure goes very well and that you are done with visits to the doctor very soon.
Jill
You look fabulous Z. So great to see you just being a horse and enjoying yourself. Remember, don’t bite Charles, just look for those peppermints! you are – TOO CUTE!
Love you – best part of my day is reading about your day!

@Pat Beck – Congratulations on your Zenyatta Moneigh, how fantastic!
@Tammy – Thank you so much for all of the amazing pictures you took at HP. Enjoyed them very much. Especially those wonderful older mares!!

You’re such a sweetheart Zenyatta! Love you more than ever!

@Terry Crow – Your Post #278 – I called Bill yesterday and left him a message regarding the address and where people could send their donations too, AND that they needed to note on their donations that it is for Noor. A follow-up article would be wonderful too. I cannot say enough nice words about what Bill Dwyre has done by writing this article.
@LauraJ – When I sent, via e-mail, the final costs for this move I told Michael that any monies left over would be returned to Old Friends to be used for other purposes. That part will be for Michael to handle, but you make a good point. I encourage you to e-mail Michael about that.
@Dwyre’s article – As people contact Bill regarding donations he has been directing them to me, which is fine. I give them the information on where to donate and answer any questions they have about Noor, which seems to delight them.
@Kathy Kimber – You inquired in Post #278 about how much more money is needed. Yesterday, Michael said that he had received a total of $700.00 in donations. I would bet the company store that it is from Zenyatta’s fan base. That is all I know, but I will keep everyone updated as I learn. As I posted, yesterday, the total amount needed will be $5,663.36.
@Sgt. Reckless – I went to the website and was just blown away by the dedication of those who want Sgt. Reckless recognized. Their level of dedication in seeing that two monuments are erected in her honor and a headstone there at Camp Pendleton just makes my heart sing. They have the passion and I have no doubt that this deserving mare will rewrite Marine history is a positive light – Semper Fi!
@ZENYATTA – California is a little less sunny without you here. You are missed California girl. I am glad you are Irish. I have Irish in my blood too. For an Irish lass the color green would look great on you. May the wee people watch over you and bless you, and may the wind always be at your back. Love you Zenyatta!

Dear deana dameron: A set of cams on some wild eaglets since they hatched was a pleasant surprise to see how safe their nest appeared and still seemed protected from invasive camera activity. However — and this is only from a vantage of my own limited experience, admittedly — when our mare settled, her sense of boundaries and a demonstrable sheltering of her ‘spaces’ meant we limited access to her and only let those she knew & trusted past ‘the rope line.’ With a first foaling [or even later ones], it would have been a violation of her equine tendency to sequester herself as best she could. While Zenyatta and her family share a great deal with the public, some hope they resist calls for more access, even electronic, recorded probes, while she is in an intimate phase of her life.

Very CUTE picture, Zenny. Nice seeing you having fun.
Tammy: Thanks for sharing your pictures.
Karen Gogue: Glad to see the picture of the Adorable Z Groupies. Must have been wonderful getting together at the races.
Thank you everyone for the wonderful links. Have a good night. Blessings. Arlene
Max
Zenyatta. Not only are you a trendsetter for treats, your racing style is also being emulated by Lane’s End horses. Here is a link to Pool Play’s win in the Stephen Foster, which your father, Street Cry, also won. Pool Play pulls off the Z decisive move to victory – last to first.

Zenny, you are just Too Cute!!! I’m sure Charles loves hiding your treats as much as you love to find them.
@DJ–emailed you back, which you probably know by now :)
@Trina Nagele–a truly inspiring and promising story about a cure for laminitis. Thank you for the link.
@Terry Crow–tell Don he is more than welcome, just glad he is better.
@Judy Berube–saw your post from 278 and then horribly sad story but with a good ending, thankfully, for Morine’s Victory and B B Frank.
@Charlotte Farmer–saw a post in case there is excess money after Noor’s fees have been paid. Not sure if that would be a possibility or not but do you who we need to contact to have that used for another needy soul?
@Tammy & J Smith–awesome photos, wanted to reach out and touch them all :)
@Cindi Anderson–how horrific to read about someone so malicious and cruel. Hopefully the leads will pan out and this person–NOT, monster, will be caught. Going to try to send something for the fighter, Maggie.
Well Zenny, another day is done and a great way to end it with you and your fans. Have a good night beautiful angel,
Z fans and Teams Z. Lotsa love to all.

@Charlotte Farmer–you answered my question while I was writing it :)

Just watched the video of TC and Californian stakes. A little
Of the pace, dead last run for him. He did great. Still wants to
go go go. Thanks for helping find info on R heat lightening.
Probably recovering if no word.
@Gloria Jean
Thanks for posting BCC 2009. I remember in an interview
With Mike after that race. He was telling her “don’t stay tooo
Far back these are the fastest colts of the year, not the
Girls”. Great win!!!!
Charlotte Farmer
@Cindi Anderson – I read your article and I pray that Maggie will get through this. Why do people have to be this way?

FYI everyone. A tornado has touched down near Churchill Downs. There have been reports of loose horses and horses trapped in barns. Maybe some one else has heard more on this news.

I continue to be so happy that you are healthy, happy and enjoying yourself. I miss seeing you. I hope that one day Lane’s End will allow the general public visit you after you have your baby.
Maryette
PS: Zenny, special hugs to you and your KY family, sweet girl – love you and stay safe –

“Cheeky” picture. I love this shot because my horse used to sniff out my pockets and if there were no treat, I sometimes got a little nip in the rear! He was a very easy going OTTB gelding named Max. He was as happy as a clam hanging out in the pasture all day, he would have been a great guy friend to you.
Speaking of OTTBs I found a great article on second career horses at http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/adamsturf/archive/2011/06/16/aiken-for-thoroughbreds.aspx
It is so fantastic to see how much life there is after the track.
Sweet day dreams Zenny….love you to bits!
Trina Nagele
@Jan and Maryette–Thanks for the info on tornado at Churchill Downs. Thank goodness it looks like no one, human or equine, has been injured at this time.
Pamela J Hebert
Dear Zenny, Thank you for sharing such beautiful pictures the last two posts. I certainly hope you are ok & everyone else at Lane’s End. I just got a Bloodhorse alert that a tornado had hit near Churchill Downs & there are reports that horses are loose. I sincerely hope no one was hurt. The reports of widespread tornadoes is alarming this spring. Now we are heading into summer. Much love to you Z.
Yvonne and Maurice Kirby
Thank you Maryette and Jan for the update on the tornado damage at Churchill Downs. We just heard about it and I quickly came to this site to make sure Zenyatta was going to be safe. We pray that no one and none of the horses were injured. Zenyatta and all of your BBFs, please stay safe. Love you.

Hi Zenny: You are TOO CUTE! What an adorable picture. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to write yesterday, but loved the photo of you in the paddock. I noticed you were not wearing your accessories. Your friend was. Maybe you don’t like wearing your mask. I am glad you enjoy being outside. I bet the evenings are really lovely in KY. You look like you are feeling wonderful. You certainly look wonderful.
Dawn Conrad
@Thank you to everyone posting about the tornado at historic Churchill. I was not aware anything had happened until I checked in here. I will continue to pray that everyone remains safe, especially our precious Zenyatta.
Paula Higgins
They are saying no one, human or horse, was hurt at Churchill Downs. That is good news. I will make another donation to Old Friends on Friday via their website.
Andrea
Thank You, Dottie, for these lovely candid shots of our beautiful Zenyatta!
Deneen
What a cute picture Zenny!! You are such a character!! Love you sweet girl — enjoy your beautiful surroundings!! Warm hugs to you and your family!!!!
Anne
Ha! That had to tickle a little bit. The shorts do look funny. Even so, YOU still have the legs of a dancer!
All of us who experienced this past horrible winter in the north country are enjoying the same longer days, green grass and warmer temperatures. We too, wish we were California girls in the winter. Keep enjoying the summer poking and prodding for your earned treats.
Sunny Boyd
Hey,
I just heard on the news, bad storm in the area of Kentucky Derby, horses are running loose. What’s going on, is everybody ok at Lane’s End?
Sorry, but this is upsetting. What’s going on, does aby know? Thanks.
