Good Morning,
On so many levels, I can’t thank all of you enough for the kind words you wrote to ME yesterday. Your support and consideration means a great deal. Thank you for encouraging ME to be ME!
I truly am getting a bit of a ‘baby bump’….to quote this current human phrase. I am definitely starting to gain some ‘baby weight’. I must say…this is very exciting!
In my life, my weight has always been a huge consideration. When I was an athlete, MY JOHN would constantly monitor my weight….before and after exercise…and then before and after a race! He had a ‘weight tape’ which he placed over my withers and directly behind my elbow….right around my heart area. This tape is scientifically designed to calculate the weight of a horse based upon a very specific formula. Thus, the point on the tape where the 2 parts meet as it is placed around my body would give my weight. The number given is considered to be quite accurate.
Not only did MY JOHN want to monitor my weight, he also wanted to see how much my weight changed before and after exercise. This would be true for any athlete in any sport.
My optimum weight while racing was right at 1200–1205 pounds. I know, I’m a good-sized girl! What is the saying….it is what you do with what you’ve got that matters! Believe me, I truly subscribed to this principle while racing…and continue to embrace it in my life today!)
Thus, right at 1200ish pounds was MY JOHN’S target weight for ME when preparing for a race. As mentioned earlier, he monitored it all of the time and kept a detailed record of it while I was enjoying my time at BARN 55.
All of this goes to illustrate….THE DETAILS MATTER!
Now, my weight is very important for another reason. I have gained ‘some pounds’ for sure…but I do think I look TOO CUTE!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z

@Noor – I just sent off the final cost to Michael for moving Noor to Old Friends. The grand total is $5,663.36. That is everything.
I spoke with Michael earlier today and ask if he would post some pictures of Noor for all of you to see. He said he would work on that. If someone knows where I can post, other than Zenaytta’s Facebook, too stupid to figure that one out, let me know.
Michael is targeting July 31st to see how much money he has collected on behalf of Noor. If we don’t then we will have to decide where we can make up the difference.
@Zenyatta’s Lovely Fans – You are all too kind, to use Zenyatta’s words, in caring and joining me on this journey. I firmly believe Noor is grazing in heaven and watching with probably an Irish twinkle in his eyes for all of you who have come to know him and his story.
@Terry Crow – I hope you were able to bring your friend Don, home from the hospital. Good thoughts coming your way.
@ Deborah Richman – Thank you for sharing the story of Reckless. I had never heard the story either. Maybe Robert Redford could do a documentary on her. Stories like that need to be heard and for all of us who were raised by military parents, she is one of our own, even though she was a Marine – Semper Fi!
@The Kennedys in San Diego – I smiled when reading about Zenyatta and Mario scratching one another. Too cute to quote Z.
@Zenyatta – Loved seeing you out in the pasture munching on the Kentucky Blue grass and clover. I wish I was there to relax. Love you!

Zenny…where is your fly mask and fly boots? I see TT has her mask on. Queen Z..it is a stretch to see a baby bump on you so early in your term. You look just wonderful enjoying all the green grass!

Oh dear Zenyatta, We are having the most beautiful summer solstice here in the Pacific Northwest. I feel warm and relaxed with my house all open, the birds chirping, the hummingbirds going absolutely crazy, and …. I absolutely must go inside and treat myself once again to your site …. a daily obsession. Now I know in my mind that yesterday you said have a great week and I am thinking, well maybe no post for a week now… hmmm, guess it is summer and I should give it a break, no rain today!! But no, totally addicted. And wonder of wonders, another intoxicating post. Thank you. Even on our best day of the year, you are still the most fantastic pleasure.

Zenyatta I never knew how they weighed a horse that is very interesting. I know that the one picture I have in my classroom of you and Mike some of the children commented on how muscular and trim you looked. I was never sure but I told the children that you were so in shape and were a certain weight for racing. Now I really understand. As for the baby weight you are too cute. That baby is so special and precious don’t worry at all about your weight. Anyway the way you run it will all come off after the baby is born :) I hope you had a good day. I feel so much better today. I also had fun with Miesha tonight. She and I started a refresher course on her obedience and agility training. We had so much fun. We met nice people and super cute dogs. Miesha did great. I am so proud of her. She is my GIRL. You understand GIRL POWER!!! Well sweet girl it is thundering so I better close. I love you and am sending Hugs and Kisses. Love, Shari

Good evening Gorgeous Zenyatta,
your paddock pal is ‘Tasty Temptation’, you might as well have talked about that luscious grass as tasty temptation :) :)
Is that white clover sticking its head up at you, waiting for its decapitation, haha. You keep munching all those good things, you’re eating for a not so little one anymore now.
Yes, the devil is in the detail. Sometimes the big picture is important, but sticking to the details is also important, to know when to do what is wisdom.
Have a restful night and dreams of all your favs

@ D. Lawson

@Shari Voltz – just read the Good News Friday article about your class – what a great way to involve the students. Being a retired special education teacher and director I can identify! I know your students had a wonderful year and were so excited to receive models of the Queen! Prayers for whatever you are going through now. Keep up the good work – our schools need educators like you!!

Dearest, Zenyatta. Good evening my beautiful, beautiful, Zenyatta. Sarah has once again captured am amazing shot of you. I loved the information of how your weight was monitored while you were racing, it demonstrates once again the wonderful connection between you and John in the details of his care. He is a great, great man. And Dottie, I hope you know how much you mean to me. TOO CUTE, BLUSH BLUSH and WINK WINK, bring always bring a smile and raise the spirit. Zenny, I am sure you are tucked away in your stall for the evening. I like to imagine your coat shining in the dim golden glow of the barn lights at night. I can see you safe and sound, warm and content, surrounded by a muffled stillness of your barn at night. The sounds of soft breathing, rustling straw, a groan here or there as another mare lowers herself to rest. A summer breeze ripples the air and crickets seranade. All is right in the world with Zenyatta in it. Love you more and more each day. Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@Our John – Thank you so much for sharing so much with us. Your training videos are great, so many amazing equine athletes to appreciate.
@Shari – Haven’t heard from you, pray everything is well.
@Charlotte Farmer – Read the article in the LA Times. Your dedication to Noor is remarkable. I love the history of racing so much and read every book I can get on the subject. Noor holds a special place in the annuals of time and deserves the honor you are giving him. Loved hearing about John’s relationship with Noor and the Loma Rica Ranch.
@Kathryn Cogswell – Thank you for the Noor link.
@Brenda – I can’t believe it, talk about perfect timing, I am planning on being at Lane’s End on the 21 of July also. I will so look forward to seeing you!!! :) :) I am also hoping to see Shari, she will be in Lexington the Sunday I arrive. Too special.
@Ensign – Always great to see your posts.
@The Kennedys – Thank you so much for sharing the wonderful story about Mario and Zenyatta. Their bond is remarkable to witness.
@Karen Gogue – Your card was wonderful. I hope others share too, they all have to be amazing.
@Deborah Richman – I had just finished reading the story of Reckless which appears in this months issue of Cowboys and Indians. I had gotten the magazine because our Zenny is in it, but what an amazing gift the article on Reckless was. Thank you for sharing the link to the video!!! She hero such as she is so deserving of having her story told.
@Jane Wade – So happy for you on your visit to Barn 55!!
@Judy Berube – Your links are always fantastic. Uncle Mo and Awesome Maria are amazing. There is an article in the Bloodhorse today about the true stars of this year’s racing season are the older females. So wonderful to see the girls carrying Zenyattas torch forward. They are beautiful talented mares. It is all about the girls!
@Sue Fredericks – I read the article on AP Indy too, he is absolutely amazing.
@Cynthia H and DJ – Your words brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for being such special Z friends!!!

@Shari – Just saw your post, you always have my prayers. Everything is going to be just fine. You believe it sweetie! I know how much you would like Zenyatta to hold your hand, so just keep imagining the feel of her soft coat under your fingers, picture her running free and she will be there with you. After all, she is our angel in disguise.

@ Judy B
Thanks for the link to tribute to Awesome Maria and Uncle Mo.
Have you heard anything about R Heat Lightening? Have been looking everywhere and not sure if her injury was permanent or if she is training? Guess Winstar bought Sidney’s Candy for breeding purposes? He is so talented. I really like Twirling Candy so glad he recovered from the brutal race earlier in the year.
