Good Morning,
On so many levels, I can’t thank all of you enough for the kind words you wrote to ME yesterday. Your support and consideration means a great deal. Thank you for encouraging ME to be ME!
I truly am getting a bit of a ‘baby bump’….to quote this current human phrase. I am definitely starting to gain some ‘baby weight’. I must say…this is very exciting!
In my life, my weight has always been a huge consideration. When I was an athlete, MY JOHN would constantly monitor my weight….before and after exercise…and then before and after a race! He had a ‘weight tape’ which he placed over my withers and directly behind my elbow….right around my heart area. This tape is scientifically designed to calculate the weight of a horse based upon a very specific formula. Thus, the point on the tape where the 2 parts meet as it is placed around my body would give my weight. The number given is considered to be quite accurate.
Not only did MY JOHN want to monitor my weight, he also wanted to see how much my weight changed before and after exercise. This would be true for any athlete in any sport.
My optimum weight while racing was right at 1200–1205 pounds. I know, I’m a good-sized girl! What is the saying….it is what you do with what you’ve got that matters! Believe me, I truly subscribed to this principle while racing…and continue to embrace it in my life today!)
Thus, right at 1200ish pounds was MY JOHN’S target weight for ME when preparing for a race. As mentioned earlier, he monitored it all of the time and kept a detailed record of it while I was enjoying my time at BARN 55.
All of this goes to illustrate….THE DETAILS MATTER!
Now, my weight is very important for another reason. I have gained ‘some pounds’ for sure…but I do think I look TOO CUTE!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z

When I open you diary for the day and see, “It’s Me”, I always smile and it seems as though it is you writing to us. Your catchy little phrases such as “wink-wink” and”blush-blush” just make it so fun to read. Don’t ever change these fun things. In our everyday hustle and bustle it is so refreshing to just chill and have a little fun!!!! Love to all!!!

I am sure there is no other quite as beautiful as you. Thank you so much Sarah for all the pictures of our Queen it makes each morning so fun to see Z out in the pasture enjoying life so much. When I followed your flight that day you left for Kentucky my stomach had such an empty feeling and watching that night when so many people greeted you. I was concerned about you not being in the spotlight and with your loving fans any longer but you do look WONDERFUL. Take care mama and thank you to Dottie for all the updates love them I do so look forward to every morning

My Sweet Lady Zenyatta, You are just so beautiful! You look absolutely amazing in that green lush Ky grass. I love you Lady Zenyatta. Always thinking of you and wanting the Best for you & your baby. You look like a postcard from Ky grazing in the grass. Sending Hugs & Kisses from Alabama With Love. Amanda

Zenny:
I know you’re concerned about your weight like any elite athlete and superstar mama to be would be. Don’t worry when the baby comes you’ll have plenty to do and the weight will just fall off!!!!

@Charlotte Farmer – just finished reading the article in the LA Times online and felt I needed again to say congratulations! I think from reading all these posts that collectively the people that contribute to this site could accomplish pretty much anything but you have accomplished (with some input from a few others) what seemed impossible at one time. When Noor is properly relocated at Old Friends there will be a huge round of cheers coming from everyone who posts here!!
Karen
You do look too cute, beautiful girl. You have a motherhood glow.
And whatever you weigh you are the most gorgeous of all. I love you, Zenyatta.
Christine Coleman
Hey Hey “TOO CUTE” Zenny Coleman! I love the instructional part of your post about your ideal racing weight! As for you gaining now? Nobody likes a bone but a dawg! LOL You are gorgeous! I often imagine the adorable little foal you are protecting within you and I thank God for his marvelous handiwork in creating the magnificent horse and the so complex reproductive process that ensures we always have horses to enjoy! Zenny, please remember to ask Dottie to ask “your John” about what he thought if YOU were in the field in the 2011 Belmont stakes in your form in 2010? PLEEEEEZ? Continue living the wonderful life that the Mosses are making possible for you due to their deep love for you. I can sure understand it! Not all human horse owners are blessed with the heartfelt feelings they possess. I love you Zenny! All my horses say Hi!

You look beautiful with the Kentucky bluegrass backdrop. So amazing that grazing animals such as horses and cattle are capable of manufacturing nutrients within their gastrointestinal tracts. Microbes convert plant cellulose, minerals and water into their entire daily nutrient requirement. In comparison, animals with simple stomachs including humans, canines, etc., do not have these “microbial factories” and must consume additional nutrients in order to survive.

Big Mama Z! I don’t care what your weight is….I love you no matter what. I’ve heard that horses lose weight after a race. If that is true, I wish it were that easy for humans. Sigh…Anyway, you look gorgeous, Zen! Keep junior safe! XOXO

Hi Z!
You are always beautiful!! But I agree with Patti, where’s your fly mask??? Tasty is wearing hers. Don’t you like it? My first horse never liked them, even though it was good for her. Best for you always!!

I posted one of my post cards that I sent in for the Bronze on Z’S FB. It’s called: TWENTY WISHES
OH I WISH…
1. to be a peppermint in a pocket so you can nuzzle me too!

3. you knew that I think of you!
4. to romp and roll in the mud with you! Heaven too!
5. you knew I love you too!
6. to graze on the Kentucky Bluegrass, roots and all, alongside you – yum too!
7. I had your horsey kisses too!
8. I had snowy whiskers too!
9. for John to win the ‘Triple Crown’ someday too!
10. to guzzle along with you all the Guinness we want to! No one to tell us to stop too!
11. to make a complete fool of myself over you!
12. to be a monkey in your tree and we’d eat all the bananas we want to! Or a bunny to hop over to you – share carrots too!
13. I could find a male Dottie out there somewhere too! That would be the ‘Bomb’ too!
14. I could wear your silks and fly with you too!
15. everyones wishes came true! And all the Heavenly gifts for you too!
16. I owned you too! At least a part of you!

Zenny: As usual, thank you for this interesting tidbit about the importance John placed on getting you to just the right weight when you were racing. And, as a general approach to life, the fact that details often do matter is something we should all keep in mind. Thanks for enlightening us about horse racing and life in general, Zenny! Love ya, Sue

Gorgeous!!! Can never get enough of you. Without a daily “Zenyatta Fix”, I get grumpy. You are filling out beautifully and look so healthy. And yes, do keep eating those greens! Thanks, Dottie on the weight info!

Wow so much to learn and what a great teacher. You look wonderful. It is so nice to have new pictures. What does Mario think about the foal. Has he made any predictions as to boy or girl. Still miss you at the track. Hugs and Kisses and a little peck for the foal.
Theresa Buck
you are too cute…baby bumps lol
Tatia
First – thanks Dottie for the full body pic I requested yesterday. I feel as though you did it just for me :)
Second – Zenny, yes you are indeed a “good-sized girl.” Nothing wrong with that at all. Honestly, I think it had a lot to do with you being such a fantastic athlete – and one who made all the boys eat your dust! No slight intended to your team. Everyone knows that they are the best.
You are looking fantastic and yes, pregnant women are often said to have a special “glow” about them. Don’t stress over the weight. Someone on your team is taking careful notes. Relax and Happy Solstice.
Nancy Bickford
Hi Zen! Glad you are doing well and are happy with your “baby bump.” Exactly how much are mares supposed to gain during their pregnancy? Are you craving any “odd” foods that perhaps your handlers are giving you?
Peg
You look radiant Z!Glad your Z Team is keeping us updated. No one does it better.
