Happy Monday, Everyone!
Well, it is the beginning of another week! I truly can’t believe how quickly the time flies by! The Meet at Royal Ascot is complete, The Triple Crown is over for this year, and the VANITY HANDICAP (which was very exciting) has taken place.
Congratulations to all of the winners! I loved the fact that MY TEAM won a race on Vanity Day with LORO. It was TOO CUTE to see MY JOHN in the post-race interview on TVG. HE commented he was so happy the MOSS’ SILKS were able to be in the Winners’ Circle on this particular race day. I must say, I was too!
All is going very well for ME these days! As you can see in the photo above, I am one very happy, happy horse. I even have my own personal back-scratcher, the adorable Charles! He is always there to help me out if I need a hand with my back-scratching. I was out grazing a couple days ago and Charles was right there to help ME find that perfect “ITCHY” spot! What a guy!
Enjoy your week!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Bernie, I was thinking of you yesterday. Hope you had a great Father’s Day!)

Hi Queen, Well I see your midline expanding…. We are all sooooo happy for you. Charles is one lucky guy..We all would LOVE to scratch your back. And baby Z tooo….
Anne from Paramount, CA
Queen Z! Once again a beautiful picture of you! You are indeed living the life, as well you–and all the horses–should. Now about that back scratcher–:)Isn’t Charles also the one who helps you handicap the big races?
@all the dumplings/groupies–what a great time you all had Saturday. Really enjoyed reading about it. Even later visiting Barn 55—a definite added bonus! On Sunday a couple of people were wearing Switch tees. That Vanity was an exciting race! I was was so startled to hear about “Belle.” Good she is okay, though.
@Charlotte Farmer and Terry Crow–this is fabulous about Bill Dwyre. My opinion is his racing articles are very good. Once or twice he has responded to an a-mail of mine, so of course he is a good guy. :) Anyway, it is fantastic that this got this far–I will be sure to tell people to read this column.
@Barb France, I loved reading about your saved phone message–how very touching and sweet to hear “Zenyatta” on your phone! I still have my dad’s voice on an old cassette tape–boy does that go back many years! @ Cynthia H, nice Father’s Day tribute! @Judy Berube (hope Russ is feeling better)Trina Nagele and J Smith Rightful Image is on the farm in Hemet for several weeks–ankle. Trainer Mike says he will resume training in time for the “Autumn Meeting” (sigh–no more Oak Tree) at Santa Anita and probably on turf. Hope it will not get too hot for him in the desert! Yikes. @all of you outside of Californians, it is beginning to get warm now, although yesterday (Sunday) it was still a little cool for shorts. I have a feeling this weekend it will be shorts weather. @ Queen Z and all of your subjects, thanks for bringing us all together. Stay healthy in Kentucky–I liked what you said about being so interested in the Vanity…made me smile. :) Good night!

Dear Kim S.:
Just visited the web site Equineinc.com. All of the stories tear at your heartstrings. But how wonderful it is to see so many amazing results and healing. All of the photos are beautiful; Lacy, Diesel, Maestro, Ginger(and her gorgeous blue eyes), Victor and William to name a few. God Bless you for the work you do. Hugs, J.B.

Dear Anne from Paramount, CA:
Russ and I thank you for your kind concern. Hope the rest on the farm does the trick for Rightful Image and he recovers completely. I think he is so talented. Hugs, J.B.

Good Evening Queen “Z” You look simply magnificient! Precious picture and charming back scratcher!
Congrats to Mr. & Mrs Moss and of course to John a terrific win with Loro. I was sorry El Vino didn’t win, but he gave it his all. I was at Santa Anitia when he broke his maiden. I was so excited for him. It is nice that the Mosses respect him for keeping him in high claiming races without price tags. He obviously holds a special place in their hearts as he worked so vigoriously with you in our workouts. Got to love the connections!
Stay well you look fantastic.
Hugs and Kisses

@Sarah Powell – I like what you had to say about when you read the posts that it feeling like reading about family.
Like you I look forward to reading everyone’s posts. It starts and ends my day on such a wonderful note. All of you are an extension of the lady herself, Zenyatta. You share your stories, and the way you care about the people and the animals has no limits. I have always loved the song, “Bless the Beast and the Children,” and the profound words of the song:
Light their way
When the darkness surrounds them
Give them love
Let it shine all around them
Bless the beasts and the children
Give them shelter from the storm
Keep them safe
Keep them warm
Those words could have been written for each person who posts, who cares, and who love all the animals put in our care. Because of Zenyatta the love continues to grow and it sure warms the heart.

To Kim S.: If you would like the Holy Card, let me know and I will give you my email address and send it to you.

To Sharon C. and Dawn C.: Words do not suffice the comfort your Presence, the most important Gift of all, must have offered your precious parents at their ‘Life’s Moment’.

Auntie Sharon’s Magic Baby Kitty Mush made me smile through tears at the end of this crappy day. Dawn, Sharon, and a few others – we will share hugs, tissues and tears when we meet. Such is this Z family place that shoulders are offered to “strangers” brought together by a horse. Incredible. Thank you Zenyatta and Dottie for such caring therapy. G’night family. diastu in tempe

@Kim S: I visited the equestrianinc.com site. It looks like a great place! I especially looked for William-what a cute boy, out splashing in the water! As Judy B said, some of the stories really tug at your heartstrings <3

@Sharon Call and Diana S: How wonderful that you both have done cat and kitten fostering! I’m sorry for your losses this week,Diana. So hard.Yes,cats are literally thrown away. But thank God there are people like you two. We lost our 19 year old cat Anthony last year-he was FIV positive so we felt lucky to have had him so long.

Officially, it`s Summer! And Mr. Bill Dwyre has made Noor`s cause his own http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-dwyre-20110621,0,4665424.column . .. in today`s LA Times. For Charlotte Farmer, Mr. Terry Crow, Diana S, Michael Blowen & ‘Old Friends’ offering a proper rest for a laudable racehorse, plus anyone else leading the search for Noor`s better angels right back to John Shirreffs, it must have seemed like rolling boulders up a steep hill. Now, perhaps, Mr. Dwyre`s words will tip the balance in Noor`s favor — and theirs — w/ smooth sailing just in time.

Dearest Z, Again one day has gone, and a new day is starting. Good night for now from SoCal.
@Karen Gogue—I loved seeing all those photos you posted on Z’s facebook page! Thanks for capturing those moments to remember!
@Teresa Dudek—That was a great anecdote about John being asked if he was going to scratch Z because she had been assigned 129 pounds!
@Judy Berube—Thank you for the Awesome Maria link. Uncle Mo will be so proud! And thanks for the link about the mare Meese Rocks.
@Judy Maass Gadwood and other SoCal Z fans—I’m looking forward to the next gathering of the SoCal gaggle too! I hope it will be a growing gaggle of Z groupies!
@Kari Bussell—It will be a red letter day for us all when you honor us with your presence out here—I have no doubt you’ll make it happen!
@Diana S—Bless you for your feline rescue work. For years I was a dog rescuer, and I know the heartbreak when they don’t all make it. Now I live with three rescued dogs, three rescued cats (two of whom—brothers—had been thrown in a trash can at just a few days old, and whom I bottled fed), and three rescued turtles.
@Kim S—It’s so good to hear you are managing to volunteer three days a week at the Equestrian Inc. Equine Rescue. A big high hoof to you! I saw William’s picture (handsome fellow) and read how he is love struck with the mare Lacey—too cute! My condolences for the two who were lost to laminitis.
@Anne from Paramount—I’m so sorry to hear that Rightful Image has an ankle problem. Hope he’ll be able to come back soon to HP.
@Jackie—Thanks for the link about Lisa’s Booby Trap. You said she is still racing—do you know if she’s still in the money these days? I hope so because her owner/trainer is such a sympathetic guy, and those early wins were SO impressive. Sounds like she’ll have a forever home with her owner/trainer whatever comes.
@Terry Crow—I hope your racing pal continues to improve.
@Kathryn Cogswell—Congratulations on being the early bird with the link to Bill Dwyre’s article on Noor!

@ Dawn Conrad. When are you going to be in Lexington? I will be there July 19, 20 and 21. Maybe we will be at the some of the same farms at the same time and I would love to see you and shake the hand of the lucky owner of Zenyatta 19. My appointment at Lane’s End is for 10.00am on the 21st. Hope everything is going well with you Dawn.
Diana Harris
I was also so happy to see Loro win. He is a beautiful horse. I love seeing you relax in the Kentucky sun and wish I was there too. we are burning up down here in Texas but I have 9 more years until I retire and then I am moving to Kentucky to open up my own farm up there. Babies and broodmares! cant wait.

Hi Zenny!
Anytime Charles needs a break, I would love to scratch your back. The picture is really pretty.
XOXOXO
Kari Bussell
Zenyatta Like others I gladly volunteer ( I am from The Volunteer State you know)- to be your permanent “scratcher” (invent word) of itches or I would settle for “scratcher” of itches in waiting lol….I love you! Aways!
Mr. John Shirreffs Uploaded a new video about 11 hours ago here is link…Such beauties!

I just read the article about Noor- wow! I thought it was excellent and I am so proud to “know” you, Charlotte! Thank you, Kathryn Cogswell, for the link.
@Trina N: I think I might heart you- rescued dogs, cats and TURTLES?!? How awesome.
Arlene
Morning Zenny and everyone, What a blessing and God’s light shining in all the posts from all. Thanks for the words of the song “Bless the Beast and the Children”. Very nice. LOL, Arlene
Sarah Powell
@ Diana S Congrats on your wonderful work. I rescue cats also – right now I’m up to 25! Living in a college town you’d be surprised how many students move away and at the end of the semester just put their cats out. It’s also amazing how many just “show up” at my horse barn. I have a beautiful black long hair about 1 yr. that showed up – he’s presently waiting to be neutered. He’s had his shots and feline leukemia testing. One more after that and all of them will have been spayed/neutered/vaccinated. By then probably another one will show up!LOL I think there must be a secret cat web site that gives directions to me!! LOL

For horse racing fans I recommend reading chapter 13 in the book “West with the Night”. The trainer shares her views of a horse race that she has entered a filly in.
Terry Crow
Just catching up on the posts. @Kathy Kimber–Tank you. Always good to read one of your posts. @Diana S-Looks the idea you planted is starting to take shape. @Kacie Joy–We all hope that Mrs. Voltz’s students continue to post–@Judy Berube–Sorry to hear about Russ but sure he has an excellent caregiver-@Lorie Crow-Good to see another Crow posting-@Susan in TN and Trina Nagele-Thanks for the good wishes. Plan to go back to hospital today but think that my friend Don will be released today. Told him about your good wishes and he was somewhat flabbergasted-@Cynthia H–Agree with Kari Bussell. Your writing skills are enormous. Write the book.–@DJ, Kathryn Cogswell and Judy Berube-Wow, I feel like Henny Youngman when his jokes got so old nobody remembered them and people started laughing again. Try this one (stop me if you have heard it)-With all due apologies to those of a religious nature-What’s the difference between praying in church and praying at the race track? At the race track, you really mean it.@Charlotte Farmer-I read Bill Dwrye’s article this morning and was amazed at his research. I’m sure you knew all of the facts but I didn’t. The only thing that I would have added to it, not that I can tell Bill how to write, is the address to which donations can be sent. It would probably be better coming from you, but let me know if you wish me to contact him about this. Keep us posted on any developments. I believe that this article will shake something loose.
Amy K
@ Judy Berube – would be great to see you at Saratoga. Hope the health concerns improve and you have an enjoyable summer of racing either way.

Dearest Sweet “Z”,
Good morning! I hope all of your itches have been appropriately scratched for the time being and that you are enjoying your morning breakfast for your little one. You are looking radiant and peaceful and I am so grateful to be able to sojourn with you by photos and stories from your generous “Z” Family. Thank you again Moss’ and Shirreffs! You are all TOO KIND!
…………………………………..
Too Kathryn C.: Thank you for the information on Noors “final” final resting place. I did not notice if they were accepting donations for this cause or future ones?
……………………………………
Shari V.: I hope you are feeling much brighter today!
……………………………………
Terry C.: I am religious and I thought the joke was adorable! I certainly “mean it” at the Track too! I trust our Good Lord has an exceptional sense of humor. Have you ever heard the expression “There are more tears shed over answered prayers than unanswered ones!?” Have a beautiful Today! :)
