Happy Monday, Everyone!
Well, it is the beginning of another week! I truly can’t believe how quickly the time flies by! The Meet at Royal Ascot is complete, The Triple Crown is over for this year, and the VANITY HANDICAP (which was very exciting) has taken place.
Congratulations to all of the winners! I loved the fact that MY TEAM won a race on Vanity Day with LORO. It was TOO CUTE to see MY JOHN in the post-race interview on TVG. HE commented he was so happy the MOSS’ SILKS were able to be in the Winners’ Circle on this particular race day. I must say, I was too!
All is going very well for ME these days! As you can see in the photo above, I am one very happy, happy horse. I even have my own personal back-scratcher, the adorable Charles! He is always there to help me out if I need a hand with my back-scratching. I was out grazing a couple days ago and Charles was right there to help ME find that perfect “ITCHY” spot! What a guy!
Enjoy your week!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Bernie, I was thinking of you yesterday. Hope you had a great Father’s Day!)

@Dawn Conrad. You are so right, it doesn’t ever heal. I was holding my Dad’s hand when he breathed his last. I was with my Mom when she, too, breated her last. Those last moments have been etched in base relief in my mind ever since. My only consolation was that my Dad would no longer be in the terrible pain he had the last 2 weeks of his life. About 300 people showed up for his funeral – people that he had known and worked with for so many years. He was a well-loved and respected man. I have to stop now – the tears are coming.

I love your diary posts, Z. You are beautiful!

@ Karen Gogue – great smiles on the “Z Dumpling gang”. I have a feeling the gang is going to grow and grow – along with the smiles! Hope one day I get to join the dumplings as well. Anyone here go to Saratoga? Could start an East coast chapter of “Z Dumplings”! I look forward to the Noor article tomorrow as well as all the great links shared by Z’s special friends here.

Well, I just caught up on the end of yesterday’s post.
@Sharon Call: I am so sorry you lost your parents at such a young age.Not fair.
@Everyone who shared stories about their dads on Father’s Day: Thank you-all were special and heartfelt.
@Terry Crow: That joke was too funny! Glad your friend has turned the corner!
Sarah Powell
Just caught up with all the postings from yesterday so:
@ Shari Voltz – hope everything went well today
@ Susan in TN glad to hear about Lou and your daughter’s cat – my sister-in law had one that lived to be 24!
@ Cynthia H – loved hearing the beautiful story about your Dad – mine was a WWII vet also and I lost him in 1988 to cancer – still miss him every day.
@ Charlotte Farmer – what you have done for Noor is amazing – can’t wait to read the article (hope someone will post a link as I am in SC). These great horses give so much and deserve better than what so many of them receive.
Love reading all the posts – it feels like reading about “family.”

Good Monday eve to you, Zetty
what a cutie you are, and getting chubbier with every picture. :) :) :)
Congratulations to your Mr. Shirreffs & the Moss’ family.
Have a good night and peaceful dreams

Hi my sweet Zenny. That Charles is one lucky man. I would love to be your personal back scratcher. They wouldn’t even have to pay me – I would pay them to let me do it! You are so awesome, Zenny, and you know what else? You are TOO CUTE!!! Loving you in Lexington :-)
@LauraJ – Thank you so much for suggesting I go to Old Friends! I went yesterday and I loved it! They do such fabulous work there. There were only two other people on the tour besides me, so we got to take our time and pet and feed the horses (most of them). I even got to kiss a couple of them. I will definitely be going back again.
@Susan in TN – If you ever get the chance, you should take a trip up here to KY and visit Old Friends. I guarantee you wouldn’t be disappointed! I would highly recommend it to anyone that loves horses.
WILD HORSES
I really missed you on Vanity day! I’m glad that a Champion like Blind Luck was the 1st one in 4 years to win the race other than you. I like to see that Champion thing go on for such a great race. The distaff division is interesting and pretty deep this year, I can’t say the same for the Boys.
Love seeing you enjoy your scratching like that. Thank you Dottie for the current pictures of Big Z. You are the world’s cutest Z. Love the lip.
Love and miss you big beautiful one!
Delrene
Today’s picture made me smile and laugh out loud. You look soooooooo happy.
Love the picture, the posts of all your friends and the wonderful ghostwriting.
Congratulations to Blind Luck! I will put Loro in my virtual stable too.

Wow, Monday again Zenny. Yes, the days are flying by so quickly. I have been trying to catch up with everyone’s posts and have been really skimming thru a lot. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon I can do some real catching up. And as I forgot, Happy Belated Father’s Day to all the Dads out there.
@Cynthia H–this is my first year without my Dad. He passed on Zenny’s birthday, April 1st, this year. And yes, he is the one that first took me to the races back in 1986 or 87, when I was about 24. I posted about a week after he had passed and also said that we had gone to Tampa Bay Downs religiously, at least 1 weekend day, for about 2 years. Today, June 20th, is also his birthday, so I have been thinking about him quite a bit the past 2 days.
@Sharon Call–so sorry to hear that you lost your parents, while they were still young. I know it is still hard but all the good memories will keep you strong.
@Sarah Powell–I have to agree, The Z Family does help with little and big problems. What a great group of caring people.
@DJ–thanks for that beautiful poem!! I’m going to print it out and put it my Dad’s urn.
@Charlotte Farmer–I wasn’t too busy to forget to send a donation to Noor, I did that last night thru Paypal. Can’t wait to read Michael’s article.
@Judy Berube–What a heart-touching story about Meese Rocks. What a peaceful face. Thanks for the link. I give to the Barbaro Fund to hopefully find a cure for that terrible laminitis.
@Diane S–What great work you are doing for those kitties. I have lost several cats to luekemia. This was before I knew about the vaccine. You are a feline angel!
@Shari Voltz–Praying for good news for you. Unfortunately, since I’ve only been skimming, I think I have missed some of ou posts, but sending good vibes your way.
@Dawn Conrad–How exciting for you, to be going to Versailles, KY! I know you can hardly wait.
@Susan in TN–Still thinking of Lou. Not sure if I missed something about Beth’s cat, just seeing some posts about him/her (sorry). I don’t have as much to relay about my volunteering at the horse rescue, as you do :) Wish I had more time to go but with a 10yr old daughter, it’s hard. And yes, it’s very hot here in Tampa so my daughter doesn’t want to go with me to the stable. I went last week on Wed and Fri, then again Saturday when I asked on Friday about the number of volunteers on the weekend. Thinking more people probably came then, rather than during the week. I was told the weekend volunteers has slacked off, so I went Sat as well. When I go around 4p, I check the water buckets to make sure they are ready for filling when the horses come in being turned out all day. If I get through with those in time, I help feed them as well. Of course, I try to talk to and pet as many as I can so they get used to me. But most are pretty docile and used to having different people around. My favorite is William, who is a retired racehorse. His “racing” name was Which Way Do I Go. You can see him on equestrianinc.com, along with several other rescues. They had to put down a mini, Babe and another mare, Teyna on Tues the 7th , due to lamintis. Poor girls could barely walk. Sorry for the length, will try to keep up posting every day so it’s not a book :)
Last but not least…@Alma–TOO CUTE!!! and Patty in Carlsbad–Amen!
Ok Zenny, I am done for the night. Hope you are getting some rest and a back scratch every day. If Charles needs relief, he has quite a few volunteers ready and waiting :) Thoughts and prayers to everyone enduring heat, flooding, fires and whatever you may be dealing with at this time. Lotsa love to all.

Dear Kim S.:
So sorry for the recent loss of your Dad. I used to enjoy going to the track with my Dad too. He passed in 2005. We have to hold on to the fun memories. On laminitis, I hope some day soon there is a cure found. It’s been the sad ending for so many horses, even Secretariat. Hugs, J.B.

I’ve got nice long nails to scratch your itches when Charles needs a break! :)
tony and sue
Zenny, please count us among the thousands who would stand in line for hours to scratch that special spot, too.

To Kaycie Joy:
You wrote a lovely post to Zenyatta. We enjoyed reading it. Hugs, Judy and Russ
Susan in TN
@Kim S: Enjoyed your post! Sorry to hear about the two that had to be euthanized due to laminitis. It is such a terrible condition. I will look for William on that link. How many horses are at the rescue? I can imagine it is hard to fit in the time to go-good for you! Beth’s dog and cat are basically fine-thank you!

Hi Zenny: You are Too Cute. We love the expression “Too Cute” on this site. Because this site is Too Cute!!!!! Some of us even think that Zenny’s baby should be named “Too Cute.”
So glad you enjoyed your wonderful back scratch. Zenny as always you look terrific. Take care Zenny, we love you!!

Dear Amy K.:
The “Saratoga Dumplings” is a great ides. Don’t know if we will make it this year as my husband is not up to traveling right now. If we do get to make the trip, I’ll let you know. Hugs, J.B.
Susan in TN
@Debbie G: I definitely plan to go to OF-sounds like you had a great time!
Susan in TN
@Sarah Powell:Thanks! Maggie is going strong at 20-hope she sees 24!

@ My Z Friends: For anyone interested: There is a link to a Kodak Photo Gallery on River Edge Farm Horse Rescue’s Facebook page with pictures of many of the horses, donkeys and miniature horses at the farm. Rootbeer and Rusty are the two with the red Jolly Ball. Chester is wearing the fly mask. You can see how much the foal has grown in a month! He is shedding out his newborn fuzz. I would love for you all to see them!

@Zenny
I cried when I posted the pictures of the Vanity on your FB page girl! I can’t help it – we miss you sooo much, and I love you more and more! Take care of yourself and baby too!

Dear Susan in Tn.:
Thank you for your kind concern. Russ has circulatory problems and it makes him less mobile than we would like. It’s just part of senior living. Watching Mikey after the 2010 Classic is difficult. Did you see him break down crying at the press conference after the race? He was so emotional and saying it was his fault. He’s just a genuine person and it shows how much he loves Z. I still cry when I watch that video. Hope Lou and your daughter are doing fine. Give them and all the “Sweeties” a hug for us. Hugs, Judy and Russ

I was just watching “American Pickers” on TV where Mike and Frank were visiting a place in Malibu. The property owner was wearing a black “Unbelieveable ZENYATTA” hat. It was so fun to see one of YOUR fans right there on TV.

Thank you so much for posting your visit to Barn 55 on Saturday on your FB page. And Madison is so – TOO CUTE!

Lookin’ good Zenyatta!

I miss your presence on the track dear girl – there is truly no one like you, but you look fabulous and I can’t wait to see your new baby!
Katie Clawson
Z! How is that baby of yours?? :D I’m sure he or she is starting to get big!! You are looking wonderful Zenny! How are you liking being under the status of “mother to be?”
Love, Katie(future jockey)

Dear Zenny, This picture brings back wonderful memories of my childhood horse named Lady. I’d scratch her itchy spots and she’d stick out her top lip and wiggle it side to side. She always brought a smile to my face when she’d do that. Thank you Dottie and Team Z for all that you’ve done for Zenyatta and for all that you do to keep us informed about this beautiful gift from God. Zenyatta and her Team Z has lovingly brought people together and formed bonds that will be remembered for a long time to come. Zenny is precious! She’s also “Too cute.” Please don’t stop saying “Too cute” or “Blush, blush” or “wink, wink”. Dottie, I hope someday that you will consider putting together a book on Zenyatta, her Team Z and the wonderful way she’s impacted Thoroughbred racing and people around the country and world. Gentle hug, sweet Zenny.
