Good Morning,
Each year, the DRF (Daily Racing Form)…in book format…produces a complete recap of the prior year in racing. It is called the AMERICAN RACING MANUAL. The issue currently being released is recapping 2010…and it has ME on the cover. Now this is TOO CUTE!
This resource book is a very complete review of the prior racing year. All graded stakes charts for the year are included as well as the past performances for all horses who won a graded stakes. They also present a summary of every stakes race run in that calendar year with some extra statistical sections for the Triple Crown Races. A great deal of other information is presented to really keep racing fans up-to-speed on all of these topics as well as honoring many historical perspectives concerning our sport. It is truly very informative!
And…the fact that I’M on the cover…even makes it more special!
In reviewing other topics in the RACING FORM, I have to say MY TEAM and I love the photo Jay Hovdey used of ME in one of his current blogs. Jay wrote the words and those are his thoughts, however, the photo is of ME! MY TEAM and I are still laughing at my expression! I must explain. Jay took this photo one morning at BARN 55 when I was really enjoying a post workout bath with Mario and Carmen. I remember it well! Jay got this shot at that very moment when Mario was massaging my back and just touched that ‘perfect spot’. OH-H-H….it felt FABULOUS!
Enjoy!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

You “dumpling girls” who get to go to HP regularly are so lucky! I’m here sweltering in 105 in Texas, far from either coast. I have laughed so hard at your e-mails of your own descriptions. Have a great day!

Hi Zenyatta…love that photo–what a smile! @ All of my Z friends, you are probably at the track as I write this,(11:15) but I will not be there today :(—but greetings to you all: perhaps another time, I hope? I bet we have all seen each other at one time or another. Love your self descriptions. :) We will be there tomorrow, just so you know. JSmith can point out our seating spot for future reference. Friends of ours have a horse running tomorrow (Key Allegro) so we will be there for that. @ Karen Gogue you’re right: too cold for shorts! I will call you soon–you live not far from my work!! Small world. @JSmith, already sent you an e-mail–you may not have read it yet. Have fun, Z dumplings, l’ll be looking at the paddock people–and of course be thinking of Z in the Vanity. Those were the days, right, QueenZ?

Dear Trina Nagele:
I am not computer savvy, so I’m typing my links. Thank you so much for trying to make it easier for me, but I’m a “techno dummy”. Have fun with the other “Dumplings” today. Love your descriptions and as I said before, wish I could be there with you. I would fit right in. Hugs, J.B.

Lucky that you are.

@Michael Blowen, thanks for your post of OF updates.Very nice of you to take the time :) @everyone, this morning (Saturday) I heard an interview on local racing show with Barry Irwin…he said the vet thought A.K. may come back in a couple of weeks, but Mr. Irwin said that Graham Motion thinks it may take longer. And yes, something may have been there already and became aggravated from the Belmont incident. Sorry I am not using his exact terminology, but I think that’s the gist. (Did not write it down, just listened as I was doing laundry.:)) We will all think positive and keep our hooves crossed!
@all who post links, thanks so much. They are great to look at, and as was mentioned by Barbara in a previous post, they and all the posters help us to “get away.” Nothing like smiling with Z and Dottie–there is always so much to learn! Right, Cover Girl Z? Have fun watching “Your” race today!:) P.S. I have a bet on El Vino!

Dear Laura J.:
Checked on Step’s race yesterday. Looks like he broke well and was into the race until the half way point. Did he come out of it “OK”. Do you think maybe he is still having respiratory problems? Hope not. Hugs, J.B.

By happenstance discovered & gratefully, there is — as John Jeffries screens it — “Legend: The Quotable Legacy of Zenyatta” http://www.youtube.com on her FB Page ^. And personally, with deep gratitude, there is one quote, especially, you`ll enjoy searching for yourselves, which offers a talisman of sorts: no one who thought less of her after BCC `10, could have properly loved her before. The soundtrack amplifies photos, videos and quotes.

@ Lisa G, you welcome, Tiz Zoe yes she pass away, I always fell very sad when a horse dies, I felt devastated when Eight Belles, Barbaro, Real Quiet, and so many more die, one thing I hate about the Japanese, when they don’t need the horses any more they kill them, I remember how they kill Ferdinand, and I am pretty sure they also kill Azeri, I wish I can do something about this terrible injustice… Hugs, Ingrid.

Hi Zenyatta, wow, what a great picture of you – just love it. How smart of the DRF to have you on the cover of their racing manual – you are so awesome!! Love you, stay comfy, eat well for two and have loads of fun with your BBFs. Love you, Angel in Disguise.
Teresa
So glad I have the Facebook page and your diary posts to follow…or else I would miss you tons. LOVE the photo of you with the smile and tongue. If I had to choose a picture that spelled happiness, this would be it. <3

Dear Zenny & Dottie,
I didn’t know about The Amer. Racing Manual, but now I’ll definitely check it out…esp. the 2011 edition with you on the cover! Your picture certainly belongs on THAT cover…we’ll always think of you when 2010 Horse Racing comes up.

“Stamp this day in your mind & hearts The Queen continues her legend…..17 in a row for 2010 Vanity win….I love you Zenny and I will love you till the twelfth of never…..
Mary
Oh Zenny! Congrats on the cover photo! I must have a copy, where can i get one? I just felt like bawling my eyes out seeing you on that Cover!! I watched the Vanity yesterday and while it’s not near as exciting to watch ANY race w/o you in it, that little Blind Luck runs alot like you, just mows them down in the stretch but she will never be as majestic as you, never ever. I am happy for her but it just doesn’t make my heart pound to watch her race, it was sort of like, ok, she won, now lets get back to see What our Queen Z has to say about it..

Marilu V
Dear Zeny! Congratulations on the cover photo. This year has been good to you despite some setbacks. Thank God for all the wonderful things you received since you were crowned Horse of the Year! Let’s continue to pray for your good health and the baby’s. Hugs, Marilu
Paul
Zenyatta, congratulations for getting your picture on the front page of the American Racing Manual!!!! And this cones out only once a year! You are really going places, girl!!!! This is put out by the Daily Racing Form. I would like to know how much it costs or if it’s free, because I would like to have an American Racing Manual. A subscription to The Daily Racing Form would be nice too. I love the story about how you got that particular look that’s in your picture. Mario and someone else were giving you a bath and they touched you in just exactly the right spot the exact second the picture was taken. How lucky are you?
