Good Morning dear Friends,
Today is the beginning of ROYAL ASCOT! This is a week long historic race meet that takes place in England each year at this time! It is filled with tradition and pageantry. The races are extremely contentious and the runners are of the finest quality. If a horse competes and wins at ROYAL ASCOT, it is a huge honor and considered to be quite an achievement!
Today is especially exciting for ME as MY MIKIE is competing there! He is riding a 2 year old named GENTLEMANS CODE in the ‘Windsor Castle’. It is a Listed Stakes Race going 5 furlongs on the turf. I truly want to wish him ALL THE BEST! Let’s go, MIKE!
Additionally, on today’s Royal Ascot Racing Program, Goldikova is running in the QUEEN ANNE STAKES—G 1. It is one mile on the turf. Later this afternoon their time, Frankel (who is currently undefeated) will be running in the ST. JAMES PALACE STAKES—G 1 for 3 year old colts. This race is also one mile on the turf.
There are many other exciting races taking place today…and all week at Royal Ascot! Dottie mentioned to ME that TVG and HRTV will both be carrying the events live each day. My best wishes to ALL of the entrants and their connections! How exciting!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z

If you would be there Zenyatta, you would blow them all away, but since you can’t be there lets say go Mike go.

Just wanted to drop you a big fat HELLO big beautiful one. Hope you and your tiny dancer are feeling well. I miss and Love You Lots!!! Lori

@eastcoastkid: Thank you! If such a thing were to happen, I believe the whole group of us would charter a plane to jump the pond!
@Dawn Conrad: I totally agree—they would have looked “right royal!” (Mom of #15)
@Terry Crow: So much horse, so little time! I would have loved to have seen even a workout on the grass.
@Amy K: Thank you so much. I will defintely check out the articles. I love Steve Haskins’ writing!
@Judy (Maass) Gadwood: She could never have been anything more or less than perfect, no matter what the surface!
@suew: Thank you for the good words. I agree, she would have taken Britain by storm! I read that after her 2009 BC win, Royal Ascot wanted desperately for her to come to their 2010 meeting. But actually, I am glad that Team Z never wanted to ship her to Dubai, or any other such faraway place.
Zenyen
Goldikova runs on turf, not dirt. Another reasons she and Zenny never would have faced each other.

@Shay. Thank you for the link (http://www.examiner.com/equine-advocacy-in-national/the-rescue-of-alydar-s-daughter) to the story on Alydar’s daughter Promethia. My heart aches for the old mare, especially knowing that many horse loving people would have been happy to care for her after the “in it for the money only crowd” were “done” with her. I made a donation to the care of Promethia and of course it was in honor of Zenyatta.
@Kim S. Like you, when I reflect on the stories surrounding Alydar’s death they still sicken me to this day. Despicable!

Dear Susan in Tn.:
How is Lou doing an how are you holding up?

Dear Especially Horses and Kim S.:
That’s the side of horse racing I don’t like. Not all of the owners, trainers or jockeys put their horses’ welfare first like Z’s Team does. To some (hopefully a few) in the end, it’s all about the money. That, I think, was the case with beautiful Alydar. So sad. Hugs, J.B.

@Cynthia H: re your last post to me yesterday (just saw it), yes – Zenyatta does bring people together. I know I am blessed to have had the moments I had with Zenny even if I didn’t see her race. You are doubly blessed! I will be talking to Charlene soon – she’ll get such a kick out of this.
@Karen Gogue: I emailed you! Thanks.

Well Zenyatta, Mike did real well riding Gentlemans Code and they came in third place, not too bad! And Goldikova, came in a close second in her race. And of course, Frankel came out of his race a real winner! Must say, Congratulations to them all.
Missing you Zenyatta-Love you lots and sending you hugs!

Hi Zenyatta I am having computer trouble so I am writing from my laptop. I hope you had a great day. It was so cool here. I have to go have a test run tomorrow. I am not excited about going to the hospital. I get so nervous. I will run in the morning to calm me down. I hope you ran outside today. When I run I talk to you in my head. You keep me company. I am also missing my class so much. I hope all my children are having summer fun. Well big girl I love you and send Hugs and Kisses to you. Shari XXXOOO

@Judy Berube. Mikey riding a Little Z, what a wonderful thought indeed. My notion would be to believe that the first Little Z to compete would be walking into a starting gate at a So Cal racetrack and that gives me much hope that I’ll be able to attend their racing debut. While I know that you are using the name Little Z as a term of endearment I actually wouldn’t mind seeing that name in the Racing Program. Although, I did just recently learn of a word that I think would be very appropriate for a Little Z. It’s an Old Testament Hebrew Lexicon – the word is Zakar (phonetic spelling Zaw-kar’). It means, “to bring to remembrance” and is used sometimes to emphasize that a name should be remembered by all generations. Of course, when I learned the meaning of the word and also that the word starts with the letter “Z”, well of course I immediately thought of Zenyatta!

Hi Zenny: How are you feeling these days? Is the baby bump starting to get a little bigger? Great post today too. All of you out there wishing your Mike the best of luck. How exciting it must be for Mike to have been invited to participate in the Royal Ascot. Zenny, I wonder if the Queen will come to visit our Queen.
@judy berube: Thanks for the link to the interview with Mike Smith. What a great guy he is, so very likeable.
@Abigail from Montreal: Thanks for all the links and the details of Mike’s race.

Dear Linda in N.J.
You’re welcome. My sister and I used to play any horse Mike was riding when he was on the New York circuit. We continued following him when he started riding in CA. Always one of our favorites. It’s great to see him now as part of the Legend of Zenyatta. Hugs, J.B.

Dear Z Fans:
If you check out the link I posted above, let me know if any of you are in the photos. Hugs, J.B.

@judy rerube. That is a great link. Thank you very much. I will enjoy reading the articles.
Zenyatta: I think that the photo today of you, Mike and Mario is very charming. The best part is looking at the pictures and knowing something personal about you and the people in them. Too often celebrities seem unreal. You and your team are more like family, and your fans can sincerely care and hope only the best for you and them.

Good luck Mike!!!!! Thanks for the t.v. information Dottie/Zenny. Good luck to Goldie and Frankel too. Saw pictures of the Royal Family arriving there. The hats worn by some of the women at Ascot are absolutely outrageous and fun!

Dear Max:
