Good Morning dear Friends,
Today is the beginning of ROYAL ASCOT! This is a week long historic race meet that takes place in England each year at this time! It is filled with tradition and pageantry. The races are extremely contentious and the runners are of the finest quality. If a horse competes and wins at ROYAL ASCOT, it is a huge honor and considered to be quite an achievement!
Today is especially exciting for ME as MY MIKIE is competing there! He is riding a 2 year old named GENTLEMANS CODE in the ‘Windsor Castle’. It is a Listed Stakes Race going 5 furlongs on the turf. I truly want to wish him ALL THE BEST! Let’s go, MIKE!
Additionally, on today’s Royal Ascot Racing Program, Goldikova is running in the QUEEN ANNE STAKES—G 1. It is one mile on the turf. Later this afternoon their time, Frankel (who is currently undefeated) will be running in the ST. JAMES PALACE STAKES—G 1 for 3 year old colts. This race is also one mile on the turf.
There are many other exciting races taking place today…and all week at Royal Ascot! Dottie mentioned to ME that TVG and HRTV will both be carrying the events live each day. My best wishes to ALL of the entrants and their connections! How exciting!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

I am finally returning after not posting a reply on Derby Day weekend. YOUR MIKIE finished fourth aboard Gentleman’s Code in the Windsor’s Castle.
In the Queen Anne – such an ironic name, no? – Goldikova was expected to repeat, but the jockey she beat last year turned the tables on the bay mare aboard Canford Cliffs. It was a valiant loss, one we are oh so familiar to, huh, Big Momma?
And Frankel was able to hold on to win today – great guts, something we also know a lot about. He beat a fast closing Zoffany by about 3/4 lengths. That means this colt has beaten his rivals by a combined 35 1/2 lengths. That’s a great achievement in its own right – both winning at Royal Ascot, and staying unbeaten.

@ Susan in TN – wondering what the latest is with Lou – glad your daughter got to go ahead with the exam – hope she was able to concentrate.

Hi Z! Hope all is well and you are enjoying your day. Getting hot here-in the 90’s-so I guess it is summer now. Have a wonderful day Z! xxoo

Good luck to Mike!

Sorry Goldi lost, but that speaks volumes about the quality of Canford Cliffs. Frankel is one heckuva horse, too. So glad the late Bobby Frankel is being honored in this way.

Love you Zenyatta. Good luck Mike! Win it, Goldy! XOXOXO

Great day watching the races on twinspires. Alas, the pocketbook is no plumper, though. Have a great day in KY. We long for a glimpse of you at the least. :)

Zenyatta, with your majestic bearing and regal composure, you would have set them on their ears at Royal Ascot, top hats and all! To see you dancing on that emerald green grass and stretching your balletic legs around those sweeping turns would have brought the British to their feet in thunderous applause and cheers! They reocognize royalty when they see it….and a truly great horse. Someday…maybe…one of your children will fulfill this dream, because turf ability is inherent in your line. They would absolutely adore your dear John across the pond. Can you just picture it, precious Z? Your John abandoning his beloved cap for a top hat and tails? And Dottie, who looks ready for the Royal Enclosure even if it is merely an allowance race mid-week, on his arm? Wow!
I have heard reports that Frankel, named for one of our greatest trainers who was also a dear friend of your Dottie, remains undefeated! You understand all about that, don’t you? And Goldikova finished second in her race—you know all about that, too. In fact, many say that your one “defeat” was your most magnificent victory, because of the tremendous heart and courage which you displayed against almost insurmounable odds! Your sweet Mike finished 4th on Gentlemans Code, in a 25-horse field! Way to go, Mike! Imagine circling that group, Zenyatta!
Thank you for the run-down on this historic and splendid meeting, Dottie. I hope we can look forward to more news of the major races as the week progresses. Let’s get out the teapot and whip up a batch of scones!
Brenda
Alas, no TV coverage of Ascot here but I can look for the results on line. Maybe your Mike will get to chat with the Queen who is known to be a very knowledgeable lady when it comes to horses. Victoria and I saw her last year at our Queen’s Plate and she sure seemed to enjoy herself. Dottie, please, a progress picture of Zenyatta and her bump, it seems like ages since we saw her. Have a great day Zenny, Hugs and Kisses to you and the wee one.
