Happy Friday to All~
I can’t believe another week has gone by…and so quickly! Lots of different things have happened during the course of this week and I’ve heard lots of good news. We’ve certainly had fabulous health updates for several people including our friend, Dawn Conrad! All of this news is so, so special!
Remember the HAT GAME I used to play with MY JOHN? Well, apparently it is still going strong at Barn 55. I guess because MY JOHN always wears a baseball type cap (and I do mean always) that the horses he works with each day just love to play with these hats.
Yesterday afternoon, while Mr. Commons was outside grazing, relaxing and enjoying the California sun, he decided it was his turn to play my game. Bruce was there with him! He let Bruce sit on the saw horse bench, scratch his neck, hug him and play with him. In return, Mr. Commons decided he would ‘tease Bruce’ and started playing with his cap! Within moments, Mr. C was playing the HAT GAME with him…and totally took off his cap and handed it back to Bruce!
It was all TOO CUTE! Everyone at Barn 55 was laughing…and Mr. Commons was really proud of himself for getting Bruce’s cap. I know this feeling. I loved to play this game with MY JOHN.
There are so many FUN THINGS like this one that happen each day in our lives. The experiences are so sweet, yet extraordinary, and most importantly they make us LAUGH! I’ve been told that there is a very famous saying which describes what I’m trying to say…..TAKE TIME TO SMELL THE ROSES! It is really so much fun to truly appreciate the joy and beauty of these special moments.
Lucky US!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Mr. Commons looks fabulous! Hope you are having a great day.
XOXOXO from Ohio.
Pam Zacek,
wow, can t believe I saw this one first to comment on this, and yes Zen, even horses should play now and then in between there races I always, thought that would make them proform better in that race, so glad your health is hanging in there, and that Hat game, is something, fun for you guys, after your work outs, people do the same thing, makes for better, happy, horse,s, and I agree, with that saying, it helps, Love to barn 55 , and you all at lane end, and also good luck to Mr, Commons, and safe trip to every horse running in the Belmont, tomorrow,
Teresa E.
That is nice, Z, but I can’t tell you how very much I wish it were YOU still playing with his hat! You are so missed. All I have around now is photos of you and would give anything to see you back on the track again. Just wish we could have gone one more year, that’s all
Does anyone know why Zenyatt’a parents have not been bred together again (instead of breeding mom to Z’s guy) that way it would be a FULL foal to Zenyatta??
Anybody? thanks
mary Bobolis
Mr. Commons looks like he’s in incredible condition and is dappled just like you Zenny. I can just imagine how much John misses you!
Pam
That’s too cute! I had a horse who liked to take things out of my shirt pocket. I would “plant” things in the pocket, and he would gingerly pull them out, wave them around and “hand” them back to me. Then the game would continue. Such fun. I like your “smell the roses” saying, Z. I say “Take time to smell the horses.” Nothing like burying your nose in a horses neck and getting that sweet, sweet smell.

Are you sure there weren’t peppermints under Bruce’s hat?
Hmm, maybe pulling a Zenny. And, check out HIS dapples! Handsome guy!
Susie Cartwright
Too funny Z, thanks for sharing!

I hope everyone enjoys the Belmont tomorrow. I heard it might rain.

Sorry, forgot to leave this, but can any of you even possibly think of Zenyatta at Belmont Park? The way she comes from behind and poured it on? I, for one, would have loved to see her at Belmont, to give that big girl a chance to stretch out and get that speed up. Wish that BC Classic would have been held there, she would have won it. Plus you could have went and paid your respects to the Great Ruffian. :)

Isn’t Mr. Commons a “hotie” he is so handsome. Have a great week end Zeny

Zenyatta,
You gals and guys sure do have lots of fun and interaction with your caretakers, yes, and that is very important in life. John really knows how to take care of his fabulous horses and team. Have a good weekend Big Mama.

What FUN you all have with hats and, I’m sure, other treats. I think there’s nothing like a little horsey slobber on your clothes to make you feel loved. Once again Zenny you’ve given us some great pictures (thanks Dottie and John). The weather forecast for tomorrow in New York seems to be better thank goodness. Best wishes for a safe trip to all horses and jockeys. Hugs and kisses Zenny from Fort Erie.

Great pic – horses do love to play too! One of mine has learned to unzip my jacket because he knows there are “treats” in the inside pocket – so smart! Hope you are staying cool – we’re fighting that heat and SC humidity! Hooves and fingers crossed for safe rides tomorrow. (thanks Dottie)

Hi Zenny,
Just read in Reader’s Digest that you won the competition for the ‘ Best Catch in America” as any stallion would die to have you as his “girl friend ” Lucky Bernadini! ( at the time of publication, the Mosses noted they had selected Bernadini for the ” Queen “. Article had a full page photo!!!!!

@Teresa
Z’s mom Street Cry are owned by two different farms that are in major competition with each other.
I’m just asking the question so don’t get defensive –every time you post you say something about wishing Z had another year on the track. I’m curious why you don’t leave it alone. She is now in foal and this is a new chapter in her life. Be excited by the fact that she retired in perfect health and has moved on.
There wasn’t any reason to go another year. She’d done everything asked of her and then some. Asking her to go another year could have easily resulted in an injury that none of us would want to see.
