Good Morning,
I just love this cake! A wonderful fan, Karen Gogue, brought it to BARN 55 for MY JOHN on his birthday! I heard the cake was quite tasty and everyone at the barn loved every bite! I must say, not only is Karen’s thoughtfulness of getting a birthday cake for John very special, but the phrase she used ON the cake is absolutely perfect for him as well:
LIFE WITHOUT HORSES…
I DON’T THINK SO!
This is absolutely TOO CUTE! This is truly the way he feels!
On so many different levels, MY JOHN feels that WE HORSES simply have a way of making people FEEL GOOD! As a matter of fact, he often comments to his friends and staff……. whenever you have a tough day and things appear to be a bit challenging….RELAX, TAKE A DEEP BREATH, and GO HUG A HORSE!
I really LOVE this philosophy! In truth, hugging US and being around US can be GREAT FUN!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
With Love,
HUGS TO ALL! (Especially ALL of my FELLOW HORSES!)

OO! AND HAPPY B-DAY JOHN S!!!!

@Judy Berube and Marilu V: It’s nice to see that Uncle Mo is getting healthier each and every day. I’m sure that Mike Repole will do what’s best for Uncle Mo. I followed one of his other lesser known horses (Go Go Shoot) from day one who happened to take a bad fall in a race late last year, fortunately he came out of it only being very sore. As of a month ago, Go Go Shoot is still on the farm being well taken care of so I have no doubt that Mike Repole will do what’s best for his horses.

Cute cake! John is so right. I’m sure he felt good inside everytime he saw people smiling, crying and enjoying Zenyatta. What a wonderful man to have allowed this experience for us all. I know when I was able to see her and John was there, I always noticed the HUGE smile on his face and his eyes twinkling! So full of love. That picture of John’s face will always stay in my mind. Thank you John from the bottom of my heart! Thank you Dottie for all that you give to us through Z’s postings. Thank you Ann and Jerry Moss for giving John that latitude to include us all. I think I’ll go hug a horse now!
Karen Gogue
JSmith, Wish I could be….love to meet you! If plans change, will let you know for sure. And thank you so much – it means a lot.
Annie
My old “racetrack retread” (truly a term of endearment) died last year at age 25 so I don’t have a horse to hug just now and I do miss that. So virtual hugs to you, dearest Zenny. Thanks for brightening many a day.
Karen Gogue
Kari B – Didn’t forget you (how could I?) I don’t want to “hog” the site – others want to post here as well, it’s important to them, I’m sure. I enjoy so much what others post here. And it’s not all about me!! Although it appears to be! LOL! Will respond later, ‘K’?
Karen Gogue
@DJ and Z fans: Promise to write to you later too! LOL!
KIMBERLY

@Judy(Maass) Gadwood–forgot to mention that I went to the Frankie Needs Help blog. What a story. I’m putting my check in the mail tomorrow. Precious little one DOES need our help and prayers. Zenny would approve, I’m sure, as she is going to be a mom soon herself.

What a lovely post! I used to get up in the middle of the night and go visit my horse, Buster. He always slept, standing up, in the same spot in our pasture. I would sneak out on summer nights just to see him. I would blow softly in his nose, he would blow softly back. Do any of you other horse owners have horses that do this? I could never imagine a life without horses. Dogs and horses are God’s greatest gift to Humanity!!!

Dear Doreen:
I agree. I think Mike Repole really loves his horses. I hope Uncle Mo totally recovers. Love that colt. Hugs, J.B.

Zenyatta: How you inspire us to be better creatures! All our animal cousins should serve as our role models, especially our Queen Z! I only hope I can be half as good (at least) as my wonderful dogs think I am! Happy Belated Birthday to John!
@Dawn Conrad: So happy to hear a good report from you. Glad you are back posting!
@Lexie: Sure hope your Arabian recovers soon from the abcess. All the Best!
@Karen Gogue: Thanks for including us in the birthday wishes to John — beautiful cake, too!
Anne
What a fabulous cake! That had to be a nice surprise for your “dear” John. It sure made me hungry looking at it.
The old saying,”The more I know people the more I love my horse, dog, cat… etc”…still holds true. They never want anything from us but love which is a powerful feeling.
We all love you Zenyatta! Stay Happy!
Marshall (girl's name)
@Kim S.: I forgot to congratulate you on joining Equestrian Inc. as a volunteer. What a wonderful thing to do! All the very best wishes to you and the equine-types in your care!

Zenny…John feels the way I do about my horses. When I had a hospital stay(my son, a physician) always told my doctor to keep me an extra day because the first thing I would do would be to head for the barn! My horses always make me feel better! Just like Queen Z does.
Anne from Paramount, CA
Queen Z- greetings! You are quite the fashionista with your new mask! :) (It is still June 7th here in CA. so I am still awake. You are probably dreaming of Bernie!:)) @Karen Gogue, and Dawn Conrad: Karen, GREAT cake–how thoughtful of you. It’s nice to be able to give back to someone who is so thoughtful himself, meaning Z’s John of course. Dawn, SO good to get your wonderful update about yourself and your visit to Barn 55. We hope to visit ourselves soon. @Kari Bussell: enjoyed the Horses in Heaven video. @Gary Moulton, your limerick made me smile. No doubt it will do the same for our Queen. @ Maria K: love your mini schnauzers’ names, Oscar and Felix. My sister once had one named Phantom. And @ JSmith and anyone else: at this time (life has a way of changing things overnight) we plan to be at Hollywood Park this Saturday. Gates open at 8 and we will be there then! How about if we meet at paddock before lst local race which is at 11am? Near #1 post? I will be wearing my Zenyatta cap and I carry a large red purse. If the weather is decent I will wear my blue Hollywood Park short sleeved shirt. ( When first coming in to track I lug along a luggage like thingie on wheels- it has horses all over it-but once at my seat it stays put.) If you have another suggestion let me know. Would be nice to meet and greet, even briefly! Goodnight Ms. Z…..my eyelids are now drooping–do I need a face mask?
Karen Gogue
AWWW Kari B. No, that’s not my responce (can I even spell right?) RESPONSE!!! DANG! Getting late, I guess. How too cute of you Kari! :):)
Lynn ..... (nearby Hwd Park) California
Hi beautiful Zenny,
Animal lovers, and especially Horse Animal Lovers are the best people in the world. That’s How I judge a person! I always ask if they have pets!
Yep”” and, Nothing better than hugging a horse. Love you Zenny, HUGS! :)
Charlotte Farmer
@Barbara Wood – I had no idea that Normandy Farm was used in the movie Seabiscuit. Wow! I have heard that the statue of Fair Play, Man o’ War’s sire, is magnificent, and from everything I have read so was Fair Play.
@Dona – Nope, not from Fox. Sorry!
It seems all our heroes have been horses. Mine encompass all the breeds from the silver screen to Custer’s Last Stand, to the beautiful Andalusians, but my heart is definitely with the Thoroughbred.
