Good Morning,
I just love this cake! A wonderful fan, Karen Gogue, brought it to BARN 55 for MY JOHN on his birthday! I heard the cake was quite tasty and everyone at the barn loved every bite! I must say, not only is Karen’s thoughtfulness of getting a birthday cake for John very special, but the phrase she used ON the cake is absolutely perfect for him as well:
LIFE WITHOUT HORSES…
I DON’T THINK SO!
This is absolutely TOO CUTE! This is truly the way he feels!
On so many different levels, MY JOHN feels that WE HORSES simply have a way of making people FEEL GOOD! As a matter of fact, he often comments to his friends and staff……. whenever you have a tough day and things appear to be a bit challenging….RELAX, TAKE A DEEP BREATH, and GO HUG A HORSE!
I really LOVE this philosophy! In truth, hugging US and being around US can be GREAT FUN!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
With Love,
HUGS TO ALL! (Especially ALL of my FELLOW HORSES!)
Z

@Dona – In Diary Post #265 – I am not sure what you meant by “Is it Charlotte Farmer from 20th?
@Eveline – Glad I could help.
@When I go back to OLDER posts with something specific or someone I just put in that information i.e. Charlotte Farmer or Native Diver. It will take you directly to any posting with that name.

*Practice on Post #266. Put in the name of the FIRST post. See what happens. Find on this Page can also be used when you are in a Word Document to locate a specific word.
Good luck.
@Karen Gogue – That was very nice of you, bringing a birthday cake to honor Zenyatta’s John.
@Does anyone know the outcome of OLD FRIENDS EQUINE’S financial difficulties?
Love you Zenyatta!

Ms Zenyatta, You make me feel good all the time…I let my imagination hug you, kiss your nose, and whisper how much I love and respect you. Life without You, John, Dottie, Ann, and Jerry…I do not think so. At least John had his Birthday with you last year, and this year with your beautiful sister, Princess Ebby. I hope that someday my imagination leads me to reality road…and that Karen, Too Sweet for sure, to include all of us in the card…I love you, Big Girl..Lisa g.
Karen Gogue
oh, forgot! YOUR CARD opened and sang: Tina Turners “YOU ARE THE BEST – BETTER THAN ALL THE REST”! Perfect! :)

Wishing John a really great birthday with lots of smiles and laughter! Thank you and Dottie, the Mosses’ and Mario (& everybody else connected with Zenyatta) for continuing to share this great mare with all of us fans. I just wish Zenny could be there with you in California where she rightfully belongs! Then there would be HUGS galore! You want to? You just can’t tell me Zenyatta doesn’t miss you! She knows each one of you! Ride in the sunshine, John! Wishing you every success in all your races!

Hello my sweet Zenny. I must say, your John is a very smart man. Whenever I have a bad day, the first thing I want to do is come home and play with my cats and hang out with the ducks in my backyard. I’ve been around horses my whole life, but I’ve never owned one, although I would love to. I’ve always had a dog or cat. There’s just nothing like that unconditional love. There’s nothing I’d love more than to give you a big hug, Zenny. Loving you in Lexington :-)
P.S. Happy Birthday, John :-)
Cathy Marshall
Hugs back to you. Love ya, Zenny!!!

@Charlotte Farmer–yes, lots of people stepped up, and Old Friends is on much better footing now. I believe the update is on the latest newsletter at http://www.oldfriendsequine.org.
There is also a mention od them in the latest AARP bulletin.

@Charlotte Farmer. I talked to Old Friends last week to order a calendar and make a donation and the very nice lady I spoke to said “things are looking a lot better”.
@Shari Voltz. How is Dawn doing? Will she be posting any time soon? We miss her.
I would love to see a bumper sticker saying “Life without horses – I don’t think so”. Wonder if this already exists.
@Karen Gogue. What a nice thing to do for John. He so deserves it. And thanks for remembering all of us fans in the cards.

I love the picture of the birthday cake. It does look GOOD!! I do not own a horse right now, but I do remember how it felt to be on a horse and hug it around its neck. I loved the feeling of warmth and the feel of the scratchy hair of its mane. Now I own a dog and I love to hug her. She gives me love and warmth in return. I love horses and dogs. I always have. I’m 70 years old with many fond memories and more to come. The best is yet to be!!

@Karen Gogue. I think we were typing away at the same time. Love the song choice – it’s one of my all time favorites!

Hi Zenny Coleman! Yesss John is absolutely right! When I get disconcerting news or get stressed, I immediately go outside and bury my face in the neck of and hug one of my horses. The smell works INSTANTLY to calm me and I’m ready to go face the world again after about a 20 minute session. Yes God’s creatures sure can make the seratonin flow! I love you big beautiful mare!
Lana Jones
i have a little pillow that says “Life without horses, I don’t think so”! Lovely cake. Love you Zen!

Dear Zeny! Thank you for sharing the picture of the adorable cake with us. And thanks for sharing John’s suggestion about hugging a horse when we are having a bad day! I don’t have a horse – wish I did – but I have our dog, Eddie, to kiss and hug on good days and bad days! Hope you are feeling good. Love and Hugs, Marilu
@ Hi CHARLOTTE: I spoke to a very helpful lady at Old Friends and she said things are better but she hopes help will continue to pour in. She said she was so touched by the donations and outpouring of support. Marilu

This appeared on Zenyatta’s Mike Smith.
Thought all of you would enjoy this. It appeared in the Thoroughbred Times Today, June 7.
“’It was a blast. And those people know their horse racing. I was in a little town at a little track, and you wouldn’t believe how many Zenyatta pictures I signed.’ Racing Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith, in Daily Racing Form, talking about riding recently in England at Folkstone, where he won a race for American trainer Wesley Ward.”
@For those that live in Kentucky – Has anyone ever visited Normandy Farm where the beautiful statue of Fair Play stands?

@ Doreen: Thank you for the link on Uncle Mo. Thank God they diagnosed the disease and he is recovering very well. I hope they make sure he is healthy before they start training again. Marilu

Best wishes to John on his birthday. Truely a great trainer and a wonderful guy. I hope some day to have the honor of shaking his hand.

Oh Zenny, how true about horses. Mine are my therapy. Pity those who have never had the opportunity to be around horses.

Dear Zenny
Really love the cake, the saying and it is so true
Horses make ones day. Even if they are not having
A good one they will make yours a good one.
Have a great day Big Z !!!!

The cake for your John is wonderful! You are SO right about horses being good for us people — well, of course you are, you know all about it, don’t you? I met Kerry T today and he was talking about some work he has been doing with a wellness company, trying to discover just how horses are able to improve the health of people who are sick or need therapy. I wish my doctor would write a prescription for me to have a horse! Wouldn’t that be awesome!! Do you remember Mr Kerry? He is a very nice man and he really understands horses. He was helping an OTTB in PA work through some issues he has leftover from his racing days. It sure is nice, horses helping people, people helping horses. What a wonderful world it would be if everyone had a horse to hug!!
Love you, Ms Z!
Jenna
No kidding…hug a horse…or a dog :> Hug Zenyatta. What a beautiful cake..what a kind gesture, honestly. I wish I owned a horse…someday. :)

I just love the way John wakes up Life is Sweet
By gently shaking/touching her hoof. How special is that
and those intense “father” son stares with Giacomo.
Trainers are so in tune with horses that it would be
Difficult to verbalized and describe how to train a horse.
It is friends gestalt !!!!!
