Good Morning,
I just love this cake! A wonderful fan, Karen Gogue, brought it to BARN 55 for MY JOHN on his birthday! I heard the cake was quite tasty and everyone at the barn loved every bite! I must say, not only is Karen’s thoughtfulness of getting a birthday cake for John very special, but the phrase she used ON the cake is absolutely perfect for him as well:
LIFE WITHOUT HORSES…
I DON’T THINK SO!
This is absolutely TOO CUTE! This is truly the way he feels!
On so many different levels, MY JOHN feels that WE HORSES simply have a way of making people FEEL GOOD! As a matter of fact, he often comments to his friends and staff……. whenever you have a tough day and things appear to be a bit challenging….RELAX, TAKE A DEEP BREATH, and GO HUG A HORSE!
I really LOVE this philosophy! In truth, hugging US and being around US can be GREAT FUN!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
With Love,
HUGS TO ALL! (Especially ALL of my FELLOW HORSES!)

Your John is absolutely right, horses do make humans feel good, as do many animals. Just the sight of a horse in a pasture as u r driving along does have a calming effect. I would like to say I’ll be extra calm this Saturday, after seeing the horses at Hollywood Park, but since the Belmont will be shown, I don’t think ‘calm’ will be in the air! Anyone going to Hollywood Park on Sat? I’m considering going early to watch training, let me know if u want to meet at any point in day.

I wish I could give you a hug, pretty Zenyatta. When I’m having a stressful day, I take a moment to check your website and you always help me relax, but I’d sure like to give you a big hug!

Just in from mucking out my barn after so much rain here in Northern California and was refreshed by this post. Horse hugging is definitely a good remedy for the blues. Thankfully we have blue sky today too.
Morgan
love the name – as I love you Zenny – and as you know I believe it was either Winston Churchill or Teddy Roosevelt the first that said “the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man” – so true – best wishes with your angel foal – with all my love (and hugs) – oxoxox

So sorry to hear that another horse has that name…..:( It would’ve been so perfect.

OH THE TIMES IN MY LIFE WHEN I HAVE CRIED IN MY HORSES MANE. THE JOY OF KNOWING OUR SORROWS AND OUR JOYS. TALKING TO MY HORSES HAS ALWAYS BEEN SOMETHING I DO ALL THE TIME. I SIT IN A CHAIR NEAR THE BARN WATCH THEM GRAZE OR JUST TO ENJOY THEIR COMPANY. I THANK GOD FOR ALL THE HORSES I CAME IN CONTACT WITH OR OWN. THEY REALLY OWN US YOU KNOW. THOSE BEAUTIFUL KNOWING EYES OF THEIRS. GOD OWNES EVERYTHING, WE ARE JUST THE STEWARDS. I AM SO GLAD I HAVE THE PLEASURE OF TAKING CARE OF THESE WONDERFUL GIFTS FROM GOD. ZENYATTA IS A GREAT GIFT TO ALL PEOPLE AND HORSES. WE LOVE YOU AND THE TEAM FOR ALL YOU DO . LOVE SHERRY D. WV.

so true, Z — so true. Thanks for sharing. i think you should compile a book when your diary gets to 365 and then add a few cogent comments with each day’s posting. Pix, too, of course!

PS another thing — don’t ever stop writing and also even tho’ you aren’t gracing the tracks anymore, don’t ever change out your picture with Mike that you have up now — meant to ask that of you a while ago.

Oh Zenny, we love you!

I have to agree with John! Horses are the best therapists and all they charge is a few carrots or peppermints.
Doreen
Zenny, your John is correct when he says that horses make you feel good. I wouldn’t know what I would do without them. Dogs and cats too. There’s nothing in the world like spending time with our four-legged friends. Hugs back at you and all your friends. It looks like Uncle Mo is continuing to improve healthwise: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/63444/uncle-mo-to-begin-light-training-next-week

Just amazing how inspiring you are to your fans, Dot-Zen. Thank you for the post.

This is so true Zenny. I’m reading some comments here from people who don’t have horses, and I am one of those. I’ve loved them since I can remember, collected model horses, played with stick horses :), taken lessons, went riding on my honeymoon, taught riding, worked with handicapped kids & horses, love to trail ride, but have never owned one. My husband and I are of limited means and have been planning on attending our second BC this fall. However, I have just been offered the chance to lease an AQHA registered gelding named Trace (out of Zippy’s Pine Bar). I’m trying to decide if I can do this. I want to more than anything. I am 53 now and this is the first time it’s seemed within my reach to actually own (lease/have!) a horse – one I could actually hug every day :) What a wonderful gift (the cake) and sentiment (from John). I’m tearing up right now thinking about how true it is! Thanks for posting this Zenny and take care of baby Z.

Wow Zenyatta I think that is an AWESOME cake and how true. When I ride I can think of nothing else but what I am doing with my horse. I start to feel one with the horse and that is a GREAT feeling. Being around horses makes me forget any troubles I have. I so agree we all need more horse hugs :) I feel God gaves us horses as gifts. More people need to see them that way. You my special girl are a true angel. Your love has spread out to others and other horses. Through you I have made some really special conections. Dawn is one of those Special connections and so is Sue from Tn. I now have Rootbeer in my circle. Zenny you helped to make this possible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you so much. Well I am going out to dig in the flowers and clean up some leaves. I love my outside time. Have a good rest of the day. Love with Hugs and Kisses, Shari
@ Dawn I loved our talk :)
@ Susan my new friend :)

Great cake – hope John has a wonderful birthday! I begin every day hugging 11 horses. I have a tall TWH that I call “Big Red” because he is and looks like the real “Big Red” (his real name is Rimfire) – I can tell him “Give me a kiss” and he nuzzles the side of my face – so I think they like to hug back!!LOL
@Victoria – I think when the posts reach 365, Dottie needs to turn them into one of those tear off calendars (with a picture of Zenny on each day) – they could be sold for charity and titled a “Year in the Life of THE Queen”. (thanks Dottie).

@ Oh I forgot Go Thirsty Go !!!! He is our Bernie’s son. I read that in Bloodhorse.

Hi Zenny,
Wish I had a piece of that cake right now! I couldn’t agree more with that sentiment. People who don’t share it don’t know what they are missing.
@PeggyOne–I’m on record as voting for Laus Deo.

Id only I could hug you I know it would be a wonderful feeling no matter how bad my day may have been. I am taking Victoria to her riding lesson this evening so I’ll hug Morgan and give her a couple of mints after the lesson – my horse moment for today. Keep eating your healthy greens and enjoying the fresh air. HUGS AND KISSES to you.

Wonderful philosophy. Did John send you any cake? Love You Queen Z.

Dear Z,
Hope you’re feeling fine. So thoughtful of Karen Gogue to bring John that beautiful cake. We’ve never owned a horse, but we have had dogs and cats. It’s medically documented that animals (dogs, cats, horses) can have a positive effect on the health of humans. Lower blood pressure, less depression and overall well being. We agree with John; hug a horse, a dog, a cat – you’ll feel better. Love you and love to all of you. Judy and Russ

And your hug means the most of all. Lots of love for you.

I agree Z. Hugging a horse is fun. But then getting a hug in return is awful sweet too. I don’t know who benefits more…I guess its a tossup.
