Good Morning,
It sounds like all of you are having an interesting time thinking of BABY NAMES! It is a great deal of fun trying to come up with the ‘perfect’ name that ‘appears available’. Needless to say, Sophie’s suggestion, was just that, a thought. There are so many fun possibilities and options for one to contemplate. Using the Jockey Club Interactive page is definitely very helpful.
So many of you kindly wrote and asked about Makoma. My dear friend is doing fine! John just took this photo of her a few moments ago so I could share it with you. As you can see, she is A-OK! John also did a little video for you of Makoma so you could see her walking around the grazing area at Barn 55.
Horses are like people. Once in awhile, they can have something in their life not go right at that particular moment. For Makoma, it was her race yesterday. As an athlete, something can happen at the drop of a hat. So, we are all grateful that she just had a ‘bad day’ for whatever reason….and that she came out of the experience in good shape!
Many times in life, it is something like this that makes you appreciate how wonderful it is to have your health! Good health is so very important!
Again, thank you for thinking of my dear friend and asking about her! Makoma sends all of you a BIG HUG!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Shari Voltz Your little Erin has a great way with words because on that day the Great Secretariat did fly…I love your stories…They bless us all!

@Susan in TN, I am not going to the June sale, but i am hopefully going to go to the August Yearling Sale. I think it is about Aug. 23. Those sales are just so great. You know its just so exiting looking into those young faces, (you know there could be a future Triple Crown Winner there. We just never know. Anyway, I’m being optimistic it is exciting. You know Affirmed came from Fl. Yippee….
Well better say Goodnight to all and Love Ya Zenny.

This is the 2007 Belmont-Rags to Riches was the first filly to capture this Classic since 1905. Tiago (The Gorgeous) ran a good race hitting the board with a show…Tiago is owned by Jerry & Ann Moss. He was trained by Mr. John Shirreffs.

Dear Queen Mum Zenyatta –
We were holding our breath for word about Makoma and thank you John and Dottie for the extra effort with the video and a post devoted to that sweet girl. Chantal Sutherland is one of my favorites, and I have her in my equibase Virtual Stable as I love to see her develop in her career. It seems her WOMAN’S INTUITION was at hand to help Makoma over some potential trouble, and for that we are very grateful.
.
Ms. Zenny, when you think our dear Ann and Dottie have just a moment, could you ask them if there is a possibility that your beautiful “Z” pin is going to come to market? Oh my goodness I put off receiving a birthday present from the Matriarch of our family because she is going to give me a “Z” pin when it’s available. Can’t wait!!
.
Jack W. – CONGRATULATIONS, my dear man. I so wish we could see a video of your special horse. And a pic of your outfit!
.
Hugs to All – HH

Good Morning Lady Z, i was so happy to hear the news of impending motherhood, but I wasn’t surprised by it. You and Bernie had been alluding to it for a while, and I couldn’t figure out why no recent full shot pics. Now we know! How’s PQ doing, as well as the other girls! Can you ask Charles if we can get some new pics of Sweet’s colt and have they named him yet? I’m soooo glad Makoma is ok, I watched the race that she was pulled up in, scared me for a minute. I got to bet on one of ‘the dumplings’ that’s has my name (that was so much fun!!), Valeria, will be on the lookout for future races. Sorry that Amazombie was dq’d, but Mikey’ll will win next time, can’t wait to see him ‘Darby’ week in the Ascot, I know you’re so proud of him as he is of you. I still haven’t decided on my Belmont picks, but they will include AK and Thirsty. :) Have a great weekend and enjoy the great weather we’re having. By the way, I like the names ‘Tige’s Dream’ or ‘CaraTige’. ;) Haven’t come up with colts’ names as of yet, still thinking on those. Peppermint kisses and carrot dreams….

Thank you so much for passing along the video of Makoma and a big hug to John for being so prompt in assuring everyone the filly is okay. She is very pretty and has nice action. I hope you are snug asleep because it’s very late here but come to think of maybe your’re just getting up and eager for your munchies. Sure miss you. I have your picture as my screen saver, just so I can get a dailey fix. :)
I must say, it’s fun reading comments from people seemingly new to all this. really enjoying knowing someone is learning about our past champions.
Kari – enjoyed reliving Rags to Riches beating Curlin. I have the bloodhorse maga-ine. The cover says “Wonder Woman” with the picture at the wire of Rags winning. One of the most satisfying wins because of the Curlin and Helen Pitts story. Don’t know which i enjoyed more, Rags winning or Curlin losing.

Good Morning Zenyatta,
hope this new day finds your snootie being tickled by the good Kentucky Blue Grass covering your paddock.
I just finished my breakfast and am going to scrape and clean, sby’s garage, with the prep work out of the way, it shouldn’t be too hard then.
Yes, Sweetie, you’re a lucky retiree, carrots, hay, blue grass, pears/apples and now nanas. You live the life of a french king.
I checked the Jockey Club’s online interactive registry, and all my suggestions were pretty much taken, except ‘Stretto’ musical term – fast pace.
Stretto- Stretta
Well, that’s all for now
Have a great day toodleloo :) :) :)

Must consider the following–ala Lady Gaga, from “Highway Unicorn”– and a tip of the hat to Street Cry
Run Run With It
Run With The Top Down
Sainted Fury
(Aside-This song would make a good background for a Zenyatta video.)
For now, this expectant foal is already special because of the depth of interest and admiration felt by Zenyatta’s public and connections. Zenyatta attracted worldwide positive attention at several levels. And whether a filly or a colt, however successful it may become, every step taken will be a “run for love”.

dear zenny, I just found out that ckrh. org is offering a bid to see zenny and have lunch too. How disappointed I am not to ever be able to see her since Idon’t have alot of money. I thought Lanes End made an agreement with the mosses about seeing her. I have written many times to no avail. My husband is recovering from stage 3 cancer and heart attacks and we both wanted to see her so badly now that she is closer to us. we live in virginia. I get tears in my eyes, just thinking of a chance to see her just once.

@Kari B-I keep thinking of a million names as well..I can’t stop.
For a large filly-Alotta Yatta.
I always liked the mare Azeri so Azeni.
My brother still wants a strong name for Queen Z’s colt-My Kingdom Calls.
With the Moss’ connection to the music industry-Nitezengale.
I have always liked Zendini-reminds me of Houdini.
Thanks for the update on Makoma!

@Charlotte A. Farmer: Read about Lost in the Fog- yet another amazing horse I had never heard of-what a story, how sad.I’m glad he is honored at Golden Gate.
@Kari B: I love that Belmont with Rags To Riches-the expression on her face at the end is like,”Oh, no you DON’T!”
Does anyone know if the Epsom Derby can be viewed on line(replay)?
@Sunny Boyd: You are too funny!
@Marcia Deeb: I’m sorry-it is disheartening, isn’t it? If I had the money, I’d bid so you and your husband could go see Z.
@Zenny: You are so loved!
Well, I’m off to the rescue!

@DAWN CONRAD: If you are reading posts again, there are a lot of people thinking about you and wishing you well! Look forward to hearing from you <3

Here’s an inspirational story between a trainer/owner and his love for his late wife and the horse he trains. I’ve followed this horse since her second race and through the highs and lows. At one time, someone in England offered over $500,000 for her. But the owner/trainer refused. She was bought for $4,500. She’s blind in one eye, has a right front club foot and a bad shoulder. It seems as fate brought both this horse and owner/trainer together – just like Zenny was meant to be with the Mosses and John. http://www.drf.com/news/lisas-booby-trap-feel-good-story-2010-looks-ahead-after-successful-comeback

Hi Zenny, great to see Makoma is doing well. Special of John to pull her out and videotape her just for us. I’m in Holland for a week taking care of my dad and just had a wonderful time watching the Epsom Darby. Three hours of commercial free !!coverage , all on one channel as well. The greatest background stories, historic pieces, in depth information on all the horses and participants!! Really a treat. Carlton House ran great, lost a shoe in the race(what is it with all those shoe’s in classics? ) It’s so interesting to see all the differences in just about everything when you compare US and English racing. It was great!! They even interviewed the winning groom after the race. I’ll be back in the States for the Belmont, hope we get some decent coverage of that. Zenny, Carlton House reminded me a bit of Bernandini with his runningstyle, beautiful !!
