Good Morning,
It sounds like all of you are having an interesting time thinking of BABY NAMES! It is a great deal of fun trying to come up with the ‘perfect’ name that ‘appears available’. Needless to say, Sophie’s suggestion, was just that, a thought. There are so many fun possibilities and options for one to contemplate. Using the Jockey Club Interactive page is definitely very helpful.
So many of you kindly wrote and asked about Makoma. My dear friend is doing fine! John just took this photo of her a few moments ago so I could share it with you. As you can see, she is A-OK! John also did a little video for you of Makoma so you could see her walking around the grazing area at Barn 55.
Horses are like people. Once in awhile, they can have something in their life not go right at that particular moment. For Makoma, it was her race yesterday. As an athlete, something can happen at the drop of a hat. So, we are all grateful that she just had a ‘bad day’ for whatever reason….and that she came out of the experience in good shape!
Many times in life, it is something like this that makes you appreciate how wonderful it is to have your health! Good health is so very important!
Again, thank you for thinking of my dear friend and asking about her! Makoma sends all of you a BIG HUG!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Oh is she a cutie. Thanks for updating us, we have just become so involved with all the horses John and Dottie have it seems we must know everything that happens to them. I am obssessed with horses noses so I would love to plant a kiss on Makomas soft nose.
The name game is just so much fun to read and there really have been some great suggestions…..however I’m partial to mine…..Singular Zensation (its musical) and we could call her SZ (Essy) in the barn.
Luv to Z and kisses on your nose
Brenda
Today is a good day here in Fort Erie – not only did you give us the good news about Makoma but the Queen’s Plate tickets for Vic and I arrived. Great news since Canada Post is having rotating strikes and the tickets are sent by mail. Now we have look at the line up for the Belmont and the Plate. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

What about BernZ Hurt?? “burns hurt”

Hi my sweetest Z!! I have been helping out my single 36 yr. old son who has built a home. It is landscaping, planting grass time as he did not want to wait til fall. Sure wish that gorgeous Bluegrass you are grazing on, we could grow up here in Wi. I have not been able to read many responses, which I like to do. I am so happy to here that John’s Makcoma is good, no injuries etc.!! Whew. I like my name for your foal “Simply IrriZiZtible”, but haven’t checked the Jockey Club yet. I like my friends “Singular Zensation”, that is not taken. And to honor both of you, “Zendini” is great too. It is difficult once we have known you Zenyatta, as we need to find a name that for me depicts you as you are the greatest. Maybe the name should be “Great Zendini”! if a colt. Stay healthy as you are and continue enjoying life there with friends & lucious bluegrass. Love with a kiss on your soft nose.

My dear Zenyatta, I want to tell you my admiration I have for your fans for pick so many unique names for your baby’s, but I stand by my picks, Queen Z for girl, and King Z for boy, I know many of you disagree with me, because this is the way we all call you, yes you are the Queen! but I know you Zenyatta, you will feel very proud to see one of your baby’s call the way so many people call you, and for all us I know when we see one of your baby’s running in the track with that name, our heart with pump so fast, with happiness! I check the names in the Jockey Club, and back in 1941 was one Queen Z and in 1939 was one King Z, but I think is so far back, I am pretty sure is no problem.
Am so happy Makoma is okay.
I miss you Zenyatta, Ingrid from SoBe.
@ Doreen Thanks for the news about Uncle Mo.- Ingrid.

Here’s a special name for your foal: World Is Watching! The background story and the idea for the name stems from how many people around the world and in so many countries watched YOU and loved you. They will do the same for your baby- who will possibly be the most talked about racehorse foal ever! And the whole world will be watching baby grow up, and start his or her racing career!
So, World Is Watching fits.. also World Is Waiting :) But whatever name you folks chose, I’m sure it will be perfect!

Zenny, Your JOHN is so great to let us know how Makoma is doing. For someone with his responsibilities and busy schedule he is going above and beyond again…to keep us (the fans) updated on things going on at Barn 55. We cannot thank him enough for your Dottie for being your secretary on this site. Words simply fail us when it comes to attempting to let everyone associated with you know how they are appreciated.
If everyone was like your special team, and of course YOU, this world would be a much better place. Here’s a High Hoof for all your “peeps”.
Jack W.
Hey Dottie I think you and John will appreciate this. Last Dec when I made the “Simply The Best 2010” DVD that I sent you guys I also designed a “T” shirt with the same title. (Z’s colors and the photo of the Classic). I put it away for the winter knowing that I would wear it the first time one of my horses was to race this year. So this past Wed my homebred 6 y.o. was in over at Suffolk. He was making only his 15th career start. (Born severly contracted he was very slow to develop both mentally & physically. At 3 he got lyme disease, at 4 his enzymes were all out of balance, last year he was doing well until he had a terrible bleeding episode at Saratoga). So on Wed I loaded him on the van for the 3 hr trip to Boston. He ran beautifully and I was proud as hell to stand in the winners circle with my horse wearing my “Simply The Best” shirt. As for the race, he broke slow trailing up the backside got into gear past the 3/8 pole and roared down the lane to win in the last jump (sound familiar). I’m not much into a lot of the syrupy stuff posted here but damn if it isn’t a bit more than coincidence that my shirt and appreciation of “Z” and her spirit were with my critter this week. I never gave up on him, but more importantly, he never gave up on himself!

Thanks for the update on Makoma. Once again her situation just reinforces the magic that surrounded you, Zenny. Twenty races over several years and you showed up for every one. If you were having a “bad” day we never knew it. Talk about strength of characher…you had it in spades.
I hope Makoma feels like her old self again and is ready to give it another try.

Dear Zen,you are right about good health and well being.I have a request of you and the Zenyatta fans and family.I live near West Grove,Pa which is a very big horse area.On Tuesday morning there was a horrible barn fire at 12:30 AM.There were 11 horses in the barn of whom 6 did not make it out.5 were rescued by the groom and workers and are now at New Bolton veterinary hospital. The rescuers were also injured, treated and released. These horses were eventing horses trained by Boyd Martin ot the United States Equestian Team. The barn was on the property of Phillip Dutton also of the U.S team. The farm is called True Prospect Farm. The horse community is devastated. We are asking for prayers for all involved, especially for the survivors, they are suffering with burns and severe smoke inhalation. If anyone would like to read more or see pictures of the horses and their names you can go to USEA or True Prospect Barn or The Horse.com.If anyone would like to send a donation to help them, these sites will tell you how.I am not very computer wise or I would give you the links. You all know how much we love Zen,these people or anyone who has ever loved a horse know how they are hurting and really need your prayers. The groom and the workers(students)lived above the barn and risked their lives to save as many as they could, entering the barn even after being warned not to by the firemen. They also lost all of their belongings. One of them only had his boxers left as they were awakened by the smoke and jumped out of their beds.Zenyatta family, let’s all stick together and pray for them please!!!!!

Well, that’s it for now, would be crazy if y’all actually liked it!!! Race On forever!!! Norine Mungo

Beautiful Queen Zenyatta and team,
Glad to see that Makoma is doing well. Such a beautiful girl. Thank you for taking the time to reassure her fans with the video clip.
Often the owners and managers of race horses that have problems on the track don’t say what happened.
We are thankful for your love and care for your “Dumplings” and your respect and love for the fans be sharing the ups and downs.
Horse racing is so much more than the race track, it is loving and caring for the horses before, during and after their careers.
Love and hugs!
LouAnn Cingel of Union, Missouri
Dearest Zenyatta, thank John for the picture and video of Makoma and yes, I was terribly worried about her. So glad that she is doing aok. Will be looking forward to seeing her on the track hopefully again soon. Hope you are enjoying the heat and the Kentucky breezes! Love you lots Zenyatta and looking at your picture and thinking of you helps me get through my difficulties. You keep me going and mean so much to me. Love & Blessings with hugs too!

To Terry Crow:
You’re welcome.
I guess questioning the yearly breeding of mares is a sensitive issue. I just was wondering why it couldn’t be every other year and thereby maybe reduce the number of horses that need rescuing. Hugs, J.B.

Z, I have a name for your little foal. How about “Zentrifugal Force?” Have a beautiful weekend and get lots of rest.
Shema
Dear precious Z, I so love learning about your good friends. Please let John know how special it is to get this video today of Makoma. Gosh she’s pretty. Glad she’s doing okay. Please send my best to John and Dottie and the Mosses. I really feel like I have an extended family now.
I’m so thrilled to hear about your 60 day A-OK report on your baby. I look at pictures of you EVERYDAY. You brighten my day!

How does one spell relief? V-I-D-E-O! There’s that big beautiful girl! Makoma looks as gorgeous as ever, and none the worse for wear. THANK YOU, Dottie, for so thoughtfully posting this and putting our minds at ease, and for “dear John” for taking the time to film her. We all love your dumpling gang, and somehow feel that we have a share in their lives and fortunes—as near as the vast majority of us will ever come to horse ownership. Sometimes it is easy to forget that horses, like people, are not machines, and that one cannot always count on the engine (and desire) firing when one turns the key! I am so glad she is okay! High hooves and hugs.
Edie Dickenson
Whew! That is such a relief! I really fretted when Vic said she’d been pulled up.

@Sherry Drish–please keep us updated on Raven. Will pray for him. I can only imagine how you must feel.
@Jack W–Congratulations!
Dear Zenny–thank you so much for the update on your friend Makoma. We are relieved she is looking well. Love you always, dear girl.
