Good Morning,
It sounds like all of you are having an interesting time thinking of BABY NAMES! It is a great deal of fun trying to come up with the ‘perfect’ name that ‘appears available’. Needless to say, Sophie’s suggestion, was just that, a thought. There are so many fun possibilities and options for one to contemplate. Using the Jockey Club Interactive page is definitely very helpful.
So many of you kindly wrote and asked about Makoma. My dear friend is doing fine! John just took this photo of her a few moments ago so I could share it with you. As you can see, she is A-OK! John also did a little video for you of Makoma so you could see her walking around the grazing area at Barn 55.
Horses are like people. Once in awhile, they can have something in their life not go right at that particular moment. For Makoma, it was her race yesterday. As an athlete, something can happen at the drop of a hat. So, we are all grateful that she just had a ‘bad day’ for whatever reason….and that she came out of the experience in good shape!
Many times in life, it is something like this that makes you appreciate how wonderful it is to have your health! Good health is so very important!
Again, thank you for thinking of my dear friend and asking about her! Makoma sends all of you a BIG HUG!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

I was home yesterday watching the races, and I was anxiously awaiting her race. I kept saying, “What’s wrong with MAKOMA?!” I wondered why she wasn’t moving along. I started to get concerned! When Chantal eased her, that’s when I really got worried. WHEW!!! Thank, God, she is okay! {{hugs}} to her!
HUGS & KISSES MY QUEEN!! XOXOXO
Gloria Jeanne
Thanks for sharing Zenny!

@John. How thoughtful of you to take the time out of your busy schedule to take the picture and video of Makoma and share with us. And, of course, Dottie, Z’s voice, for going to the trouble to post it here. Would that more trainers and owners are like you and the Mosses. I think horse racing would have many more fans.
@Susan in Tn. Please give us our River Edge fix on the rescue horses. I think about Chester quite a lot. There’s something about him that particularly touches my heart. I so wish I had the means to adopt him. He would be my special friend and would lack for nothing but, alas, that’s something that I just can’t do at this time in my life. I take comfort that he has you to think about him because I know you have his welfare at heart. Do you think the River Edge web site might be updated with a new picture of him?

Thank you John and Dottie for loving the Horses like family members and not investments!!

ZENYATTA HOW TRUE ABOUT THINGS HAPPENING REAL FAST WITH HORSES. MY SWEET RAVEN, WAS VETTED TWO DAYS IN A ROW. HE IS EATING A LITTLE BUT NOT EATING LIKE A HORSE. HE HARDLY EATS HIS TREATS AT ALL. HE DOESNOT COME AROUND I WILL CALL THE VET AGAIN. THOSE PRETTY EYES ARE SO SAD IT IS BREAKING MY HEART. TAKE CARE DEAR ONE. SHERRY D. WV

I’m glad Makoma is well. And you are absolutely right, Zenyatta, none of us should ever take our good health and well-being for granted. On another topic, should your baby have a “cute” name, or should the name be more “elegant”? Which direction are you leaning? Well, take care of youself, and remember, you’re responsible for getting fat and sassy this summer and fall. Your work’s cut out for you!

At some point if Makoma decides she is ready to retire from racing and would rather take on a new career rather than being a mom I think she would make a great barrel horse in Texas.

Great Zandini is a good name for a colt :)
Cindy Johnson
I’m sure someone has already thought of the name Zendini.

Dearest Sweet “Z”,
Thank you for qualifying the issue with Makoma. She is a little sweetheart, and it is so true that we all have our ‘Off’ days. I like to call it a ‘mental health day’ when we just say no to everyone :) It was unexpected, as she was so adorable and frisky on camera right before and looked so excited to race, just like Y.O.U.! So glad all is well. Please thank your gracious “Z” family for putting up with our antics as we impart all of the emotions into playing this ‘name game.’ It is a joy and also a privilege that your family has even welcomed a ‘listening ear’. So thank you again, it is great fun and not to be taken seriously, for we know our Sweet “Z”s little offspring is entirely in the best of hands with ‘your call’. Blessings to You and Yours.

Thank you Zenny for updating on Makoma’s health. High hoofs to you and Makoma for being such great athletes and especially for John Shirreffs for taking extra good care of horses in his care.
Gotta love Barn 55. ;)

p.s. At the risk of stating the obvious.. this little “Z-mail” Family would so enjoy playing the “Vote Game” one more time!

So glad that Makoma is doing well! Thank you so much for the update. We hardly hear of horses as to why they didn’t do well in a race! Love the whole Zennyatta Team! I still go for Yatta Yatta Yatta! It’s exactly 17 characters! xoxo

I’m so glad that Makoma is doing okay. She’s a little cutie. I always worry when a horse is pulled up during a race. Thankfully she only had a bad day and wasn’t any worse for wear. There’s a nice article on Mike Smith on DRF.com. As always, he speaks lovingly of our Zenny. Here’s the link: http://www.drf.com/news/mike-smith-has-earned-luxury-picking-his-own-spots

Mike Smith posted a link on Facebook to an article about Nehro’s preparations for the Belmont: http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/racing-news/2011/06/02/connections-expect-improvement-in-nehros-classic-return.aspx
Reading the article, I learned that Nehro’s owner Ahmed Zayat has already used the name Zensational for a stallion who is now at stud. Maybe B Zensational would be accepted for Zenny’s offspring by Bernardini.
Thanks again to John and Dottie for the good news about Makoma, and best wishes to Makoma.
Jamie
How about “Boulette” for a baby name (dumpling in French) or “Zee’s Boulette” Have a great day! Love and Hugs to Zenny and Dottie. Glad Makoma is ok.

Zenny – So happy Makoma is fine. I would have to guess that the standing jockey instructions on any of Ann, Jerry, and John’s horses is: If you feel anything might be wrong, ease the horse. Rather lose the race than the horse – wish it was that way for all the horses racing. Have a great weekend all!!!
