Good Morning,
It sounds like all of you are having an interesting time thinking of BABY NAMES! It is a great deal of fun trying to come up with the ‘perfect’ name that ‘appears available’. Needless to say, Sophie’s suggestion, was just that, a thought. There are so many fun possibilities and options for one to contemplate. Using the Jockey Club Interactive page is definitely very helpful.
So many of you kindly wrote and asked about Makoma. My dear friend is doing fine! John just took this photo of her a few moments ago so I could share it with you. As you can see, she is A-OK! John also did a little video for you of Makoma so you could see her walking around the grazing area at Barn 55.
Horses are like people. Once in awhile, they can have something in their life not go right at that particular moment. For Makoma, it was her race yesterday. As an athlete, something can happen at the drop of a hat. So, we are all grateful that she just had a ‘bad day’ for whatever reason….and that she came out of the experience in good shape!
Many times in life, it is something like this that makes you appreciate how wonderful it is to have your health! Good health is so very important!
Again, thank you for thinking of my dear friend and asking about her! Makoma sends all of you a BIG HUG!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

I got up early to watch the Epsom Derby, hoping Carlton House would win for Queen Elizabeth. Pour Moi just blew by the others at the end, but jockey “Barzalona was banned for one day due to excessive use of the whip.” That bothers me — if he’s hurting the horse, why only a one-day ban? Why is hurting the horse tolerated or “ok”?

My Sweet Lady Zenyatta, Thank You so much for the update on Makoma. She is so beautiful standing in her stall and the video is good too. Thank Dottie & John for always sharing with your fans. They are so thoughtful to do that. I am so thrilled she is o.k. We all have days like that and for no reason. They just happen. I’m glad she is with John, he’s always so patience with the horses at barn 55. I love you, Zenyatta and so glad you are doing well. I love reading your Fan Family’s postings and especiallt the names. It’s just Too Cute! Sending Hugs & Kisses To You from Alabama With Love, Amanda G.
@ PeggyOne-I love your name for the foal. It’s just so beautiful and Yes! Zenyatta is a gift from God, that I could talk for hours on!
@ Susan in Tn-Happy Birthday!! Your posting was so sad and I felt so bad for Chester. I missed some of the story. Why are the other horses treating Chester like that? I just want to hug him and tell him it will be o.k.
@ Jack W.-Congratulations on your WIN! That is a really cool story with him winning & the shirt!
SEN with Aloha!
Zen, you have a great “heart” that extends beyond the racetrack! Your charity work for horses and people in need is most admirable! You are truly a piece of “Art”! I’m sure your 1st foal will have that “essence”. I’m not good with Italian words, but it is a land of great art and legendary souls…like you! (Italian is also easier to pronounce than French) Hope these Italiano names (not yet used) will inspire a name for your first bambino:
Prima di Zenyatta (1st for Zenyatta) or Primo di Zenya or Primo Zenyatta: if male
Ti Amo Zenya or Ti Amo Zenyatta: I love you Zenya (Zenyatta)
Giardino Zen or Giardini Zen (Zen Garden)
Primogenito or Primonato: 1st born
GaraDiva: Race Diva if filly
Danza Dea (filly) or Danza Dio (colt): Dancing goddess or god
Dea Zen or Dio Zen: Zen Goddess or God
Classe Danza: Classy Dancer
Strada Danza: Street Dancer (Note: English wording “Street Dance” & “Street Dancing” used in 2005 and “Street Dancer” used in 2010)
Danza Regina: Dancing Queen (for filly)
Zen Saetta or ZenSaetta: Zen Lightning
Cuore di Zen: Heart of Zen
Vincitore: Winner
ZenyaFretta or ZenFretta: Fretta means quick/fast
Spagnolo Passo: Spanish Walk…like your dance strut
Primo Passo: First Stride (for colt)
Zen Essenza or Essenza dello Zen: Essence of Zen
Anxiously awaiting your Primavera Bambino (Spring Baby)!

Dear Terry Crow: Good for you; knowing ‘Them,’ making ‘the Marshal’ laugh, & keeping his ‘little’ brother — ‘the spy master’ — company. Your western glory group sounds fascinating, and while I loved ‘Trigger,’ ‘Champion,’ ‘Tony’ (Tom Mix` horse), and the rest, also appreciate that Jim Arness & the buckskin giant he rode in on tolerated one another just for ‘Gunsmoke`s’ sake, true to form. Mr. Arness had sustained a shattering leg wound during his Infantry service at Anzio during WWII; it took a year to heal & he was never really comfortable mounting a horse afterward. Have you considered a separate blog encompassing all the California lore you carry? Abigail Andesron`s ‘The Vault,’ surely benefits a wide audience.

Sweet Z!! I have been praying hard for Uncle Mo. I think of the fire out in Pa. and have prayed for them. But Uncle Mo, he was looking like the one! Then all this. I just pray he overcomes this. Mo needs to have a chance and otherwise to be loved and enjoy life. Many blessings to you Z and your family. love with a kiss on your soft nose.

I’m so glad Makoma is alright. Thanks for the video, she looks lovely and healthy. As for baby names, how about TOO CUTE, or has that been used already for a horse? Love to you, beautiful Zenyatta and family! Jean.

Zenyatta, I’m sorry to hear that your buddy Makoma didn’t do well in her race, but I am happy to hear that she is doing fine. That was just one of those things that happens to everyone and every animal every so often. That is a nice picture of her. Good luck in picking out a name for your foal. I will be coming up with some ideas of my own about what its name should be-depending on whether your foal is a male or a female. I will be visiting the jockey’s club page.
