Good Morning,
Thank you so much for all of the kind messages you have sent ME offering congratulations on my IN FOAL news! Dottie and John were reading them last night and told ME about them! I am still chuckling at the cute names all of you are suggesting.
I also thought it was TOO CUTE when you referred to ME as having a BABY BUMP! I’m still giggling over this comment! And a name that is still making me smile is WINK WINK! How precious is this!
I promise I will do my very best to eat properly and stay nice and healthy. As you can see, I’m out enjoying the lush grass with my dear friend, Mona De Momma! She is a Grade 1 winning mare by Speightstown. As a matter of fact, Mona also raced in California…so we have a great deal in common.
The weather is quite warm in Lexington now. The rain has stopped for a bit and the sun is shining.
I’m one very happy HORSE!
Again, thank you for all of your kind messages. Happy JUNE!
With Love,
Hugs to all~(Especially my dear JOHN on his birthday!)

Happy birthday to John! Zennie, did you whip up a carrot cake for him? Oh, you ate it, didn’t you? That’s o.k., maybe Dottie made John a cake, too.

A Big Happy Birthday to your dear John! I’m sure Dottie will make sure his day is special. You look so relaxed in your pasture, munching on hay. I wonder what kind of goodies you will crave? Happy Birthday, John!! Funny story for you: I “announced” on my FB page that Zenyatta was pregnant, and my aunt (who is new to FB) said, “How exciting!” and “Are you sure?” and I had to clarify that Zenyatta is a famous racehorse that is confirmed in foal. I think she thought Zenyatta was someone I’m in a domestic partnership with (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and that I was announcing that “we” were pregnant! LOL!!

Happy BIrthday John! Zenny, are you going to have to refrain from Guiness in your delicate condition?

Happy Birthday, John!
Dona
Love this photo of DE-Momma’s !
_enyatta and Mona both look so content and can you believe how lush that grass is? It’s a post card moment, that’s for sure.
Happy, Happy, Birthday Johnee…you are the greatest and hopefully Dottie has a Cupcake surprise for you, very deserving of course.
FYI…Love that others are discovering Native Diver and are enjoying his accomplishments. I sneaked off from work many a time, just to see him run. Native Diver, like John Henry, both would stop and stare at the crowd, taking it all in: just like _enyatta did. I have Fred Stones’ autographed print of Native Diver on my Den wall. I remember the day he died and my stunned disblief. It was a long time before I forgave his connections for taking him to Northern California. In a grief stricken state of grief, I thought he would have lived if left in Southern California. I was younger of course and needed a reason for his loss. I still think he had speed that was never tapped and absolutely loved his catch me if you can attitude. Boy, those were the days, racing was so much fun and our heros were such Damon Runyon characters just like our Queen(mommy-to-be).
I proclaim an official “June Swoon” moment for the Big Girl and her beloved John. Pass the carrots!
Dona
Oh, Dona!
The word is supposed to be disbelief.

Zenny, we especially want to thank Sarah for yet another great picture of YOOU. And, to wish your john a very Happy Birthday. He is the true Zenmaster in the every way. His keen eye saw the potential in you and brought it to the surface. How proud he must be of you…We can’t imagine the pure joy he feels every time he looks at you. There are a few photos that are very special when he gazes at you with absolute love in his eyes. His kindness and wisdom gently helped you develop into such a magnificient creature…our gift as your Ann says.
Enjoy grazing…what a wonderful change from the cold winter that first greeted you in Dec. We know Lane’s End is taking magnificient care of you and will continue making certain your every need is met. How lucky THEY are to see you everyday.
Terry Crow
@Dona–As another person who saw Native Diver run in person I second your comments. He was the first California bred to win over a million in purses. Whenever I am at Hollywood Park, I always stop at his memorial to pay him homage. Those were the days indeed.

Z- So happy to hear you are “with child”. Stay healthy and happy and enjoy the tornadoless weather. I love hearing about your progress and I’ll be thinking about baby foal names. Love you.

Looks like the Blue Grass is springing out of the ground.
Happy Birthday John!!!

Congratulations! This is most exciting news ! I am thankful for you that things are coming along smoothly. Don”t overdo and listen to your caregivers and the vet. Eat healthy and sleep lots. Can”t wait till your baby is born, she or he is already loved by all of us. You are and always will be The Queen !!!!!!
Barbara Wood
No matter what name is chosen for the baby, he/she will always be Baby Z to me!
Has there ever been a more longed-for baby in the history of “horsedom”?

you are loved<3

Have a great summer! Love you, Julie

Hi lovely Zenyatta and Mona, love to you both.
Dona and Terry – I never had the privilege of seeing Native Diver in person, but I remember him, and have seen films of his races – a very intense, very handsome horse – so alert and so much force of personality – thanks for your memories of him. Unforgettable, and such a rare and wonderful horse!
Megan
Happy June to you to Zenyatta.May you continually blessed throughout your pregnancy and life. What you gave to me is beyond a blessing, you have been pure joy to watch on and off the track.Take care of yourself…..
Maryyette
Just another thought – re both Zenyatta, Native Diver and many others –
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Animal Planet or Biography featured the stories of wonderful horses we love and have loved – so that people would realize – and be more aware and caring of the horses around them.
Pam
Happy birthday to John and many thanks to all your human family for communicating with us regularly and allowing us to see how you’re doing. You are the picture of health, and I feel sure pregnancy and motherhood will agree with you. So, are you hoping for a boy or a girl? I like the suspense! Happy June to you too, Zenyatta.
Melissa
I vote for Zendini…perfect for bother zen and bernie!!! Happy Birthday John!!!
Abigail from Montreal
I thank Zenny for acquainting me with John. I knew he trained Giacomo but really knew zilch about his career, his absolute passion for thoroughbreds and his “horse secrets” — like Guinness after a hard day’s work or aloe vera juice for shiny coats.
Happy b-day, John!
You & Dottie are X-tra special to me for your loving kindness related to my friend, Marjorie, as I’m sure you must know. And I just admire both of you immeasurably.
Hugs to you, sweet Zen-Ma!!!!!
Derby*Ann
So excited about the news, Ms. Z. I will be hoping and praying for the best for your baby.

John, Happy Birthday! As John and Sue said above, John Sherrifs is the true “Zenmaster.” Zenny you look great. Your foal needs a name with personality, something memorable. Because after all, he or she will be the foal of the Great Zenyatta. Dottie and Sarah, thank you for the pictures of the two girls. They look like two happy campers.
Liz
It does my heart good to see this horse so happy. She is right where she belongs – surroundings fit for a Queen! HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your VERY DEAR John. He was so dear to all of us and his kindness will never be forgotten by any of us. If it hadn’t been for him and all of the amazingly kind and giving folks that surrounded this once-in-a-lifetime horse, we wouldn’t have had the opportunities we had to get up close and personal with this magnificent creature. I hope you never get tired of hearing how special all of you are, and how much your kindness in sharing the great Zenyatta with the world has meant to so many people. God Bless all of you (including Z’s little z in waiting) and the Happiest of Birthday’s to dear, dear John.

To Maryette:
That’s a great idea. Maybe you could contact their websites and suggest it to them. Hugs, J.B.

Happy Birthday, John! And Ken, what a fun fan video. Watching it and Zenyatta race, even when we know the outcome, is heart stopping. Thrilling. And Mario did a great job keeping focused when everything was so wild around them at race time. That had to be challenging.
Zenyatta, “Believable” was one for the ages. She is gorgeous. A SuperStar. Nothing compares.
