Hello Everyone,
Wow…it is a bit chilly here…snow and all…but I like it!
I am so excited all of you are wondering what I am up to these days! Well, lots is happening…and ALL OF IT is FABULOUS! I am SO HAPPY!
On Tuesday and Wednesday, I had lots of things to get used to in my new ‘home’. The Moss’, John, Dottie, Steve and Mario all stayed to help me in this transition.
My new stall is great. I have a wonderful big window looking out to several large paddocks. I will get to go out and play in them once I am fully acclimated. The sun shines in my window…so even though it is cold outside…I have lots of sunshine and warmth. I also have a wonderful warm blanket that keeps me cozy.
Both Tuesday and Wednesday, they took me for walks in the barn. Then John took me for walks outside…getting me used to everything. There is a round area right outside my barn that is grass. (snow on top right now) It is about the size of my grazing area in CA. John would take me out there and let me walk for about 30 minutes each time…and then let me graze on the grass. (After I walked on it, the snow was moved aside and the grass ‘popped’ up.) The snow is fun…and feels great on my feet. The grass is lush and plentiful. It is terrific. Then I’d get to stand in the sunshine and just look around for a bit. It is beautiful here.
After this, I’d go in my stall. I’d get to eat and drink water, snack on a few bites of banana and carrots and spend some time with my new friends. This is so relaxing.
My barn here has about 8 other girlfriends for me to ‘hang out with each day’. They are all very nice and friendly. We chat back and forth and I see them out playing from my window. I will be able to join them soon…but I need to do things in baby-steps first to get ready for the bigger paddocks. It is really special…and all of my new friends are great…both horse and human. I’ll let you know about my new caretakers soon. They are very, very nice. Mario and John have spent a great deal of time chatting and working with them…my every need being discussed and met. LUCKY ME!
At 3 today (I’m on KY TIME NOW), some photographers are coming to the farm to take photos of me outside. Dottie has been working with Sarah (at Lane’s End) and our web-site people to help get photos and videos up for all of you so you can see me!
I hope you are well…and enjoy all of my updates.
I’ll keep you posted.
With Love,
Hugs~
Z

Dearest Zen – Thanks for this latest post and letting us know how you are doing and that you are enjoying your new surroundings, the people and other horses. It makes us all feel much better. You look so beautiful in the snowy photos on the DRF website. I love the photo with your patented foreleg extention. It always makes me smile when you do that. Enjoy your weekend and getting to know your new girlfriends. I’m sure they are filling you in on all the barn gossip. Warmest wishes.

here is a video which most of you have probably seen. We would love to see more of attention like this for Zenyatta now in her time of incredible challenge and adjustment.

I am stunned at the lack of attention I have seen in the videos from lanes end, yet still do not want her fans cut off from all news of her.
Janet
Hi! I had a great idea! Since you have such a nice window to see out, and there is so much wondering who your first “husband” will be, I think they should lead all the boys by your window and let YOU choose! You’ve earned it! VBG!

**The video taken before the BCC’10, with ‘Z`s’ flight into Ky. and van trip to CD: as Mario leads her down the ramp to her barn, **see that the lead shank is across her tongue; then by the time she’s on the grass, it’s over her nose-band again. Just an attention-to-detail thing. Khc.

Zen…tell us about your barn mates, I’m sure there is no one as famous as you but are they mares maiden mares like yourself?
If you can’t tell us their registered names what are their barn names especially the ones that are next to you. What is your stall size, 16 x 16? Will you be turn out in the round pen first before they let you out in a paddock? Will you be turned out in the paddock by yourself first so you don’t get to running to hard? Do the handlers then turn you out first with a quiet mare to get you acquainted? I can’t wait to se your first Zen-snow angel. Thanks to Lane’s End for keeping all of Z’s fans up date, we love this great mare!

Dear Mars: Lovely. “Can’t teach it — born with it.” (Barry Abrams`quote). When we see that, we can get back to work, no? Since she moved away, this place is on hold. With a sigh of relief that she’s known this. Thank you.
Penny
Your posting make my day. I am going to retire Sept 1st and my first vacation will be to Kentucky to visit you! Be careful in the snow!
Susan
Sounds great girlfriend!

Please let us know your experiences with the other mares when you join them at liberty, especially in the pasture. There will be vying for dominance. I hope that the process will not be too taxing for you and the others.

Thank you so very much for remembering how much we need to hear how you are, Zenyatta. Its quite a transition for us, also, to know we won’t see you race. Please ask your caretakers for a schedule of when we can come see you. Love and hugs, and prayers for you to be safe and happy in your new home.

Zenyatta, it was so good to hear that you are doing fine. I didn’t know that there would be pictures of you so soon, so I didn’t get to see any yet. I definately will be on your website everyday to see how you are doing. Webcam would be wonderful. Hope giving birth will not be too hard on you. I worry a little about that. Love and prayers Zenyatta.
nancy
We are in heaven with these Z posts. PLEASE keep them up!

I echo everything Linda Weiss said in the above post.
Actually, a webcam is not unheard of. Some of you may remember that they did one for Mine That Bird, and I enjoyed going to it many time. I still love the little guy and miss him too.
Loving you and thinking of you always. I have a picture of you on my coffee cup, and it’s one of the first things I see in the morning.
Please keep up the posts. We desperately need them.
Kim
Don’t know if the same person is writing the KY postings since they feel a bit forced. Midwest temperament is its own and one can’t expect the same CA mentality. Zenyatta has a lot of adjustments to do and one hopes the writer won’t cloak everything under the “all is wonderful” stories.
Rita Stack
Z so glad to read your posts and know that you are adjusting to your new surroundings. You are so beautiful in every way. I miss you already and I will be checking your posts every day. It must be so difficult for your CA family as they had personal contact with you every day. You are such a blessing to all of us, thank you.
Anna
I love you, Zenny, and I wish you all the best. I hope you’re enjoying Kentucky.
Lauren
Hi Beautiful Girl – don’t worry about the cold weather – all the love that people have for you will keep you warm. Hope you are getting adjusted to your new home. Love the little orange barn cat that lives in your stable. hugs and kisses,

Ohhhh….so happy that everyone’s favorite horse Zenyatta is a happy, happy horsey!!! Love the updates on the “people’s horse!!!” I’m sure Kentucky is overjoyed to have their star back home!

Oh Zenyatta, I am so relieved to hear that John and Dottie and Mario have stayed with you for a while so you would have familiar human friends to help you with the transition. It sounds like you will be well cared for and everyone will make sure you are happy in your new home. Thanks for the post and we all will be looking for more.
JOAN WOOD PEDRON
Love your updates. Are you going to be dating????
Cheryl Heath
These updates are wonderful and I love the videos as well. Zenyatta is being taken excellent care of. John and Team Zenyatta would have nothing but the best for her and staying around to help out is good. Lane’s End is so beautiful and they are going to be good to her. The whole Lexington area is the best for any horse and Zenyatta will see to it that she continues to be the Queen! Thanks to all for the updates.

Lanes End,
Please be patient with us neophyte horse lovers. Of course, we are reacting on emotions. That is all we feel when we see Z. Just remember, it’s coming from a place of love. We love her and appreciate that you love her too and see her greatness as well as represented in the following article:

I just beg that some of the premature hysteria does not cause you to quit posting on her Facebook. I notice in this article a beautiful picture of her, looking like she was prancing. Wish we could have seen video of that!
Z lover, Kaykay
