Hello Everyone,
Wow…it is a bit chilly here…snow and all…but I like it!
I am so excited all of you are wondering what I am up to these days! Well, lots is happening…and ALL OF IT is FABULOUS! I am SO HAPPY!
On Tuesday and Wednesday, I had lots of things to get used to in my new ‘home’. The Moss’, John, Dottie, Steve and Mario all stayed to help me in this transition.
My new stall is great. I have a wonderful big window looking out to several large paddocks. I will get to go out and play in them once I am fully acclimated. The sun shines in my window…so even though it is cold outside…I have lots of sunshine and warmth. I also have a wonderful warm blanket that keeps me cozy.
Both Tuesday and Wednesday, they took me for walks in the barn. Then John took me for walks outside…getting me used to everything. There is a round area right outside my barn that is grass. (snow on top right now) It is about the size of my grazing area in CA. John would take me out there and let me walk for about 30 minutes each time…and then let me graze on the grass. (After I walked on it, the snow was moved aside and the grass ‘popped’ up.) The snow is fun…and feels great on my feet. The grass is lush and plentiful. It is terrific. Then I’d get to stand in the sunshine and just look around for a bit. It is beautiful here.
After this, I’d go in my stall. I’d get to eat and drink water, snack on a few bites of banana and carrots and spend some time with my new friends. This is so relaxing.
My barn here has about 8 other girlfriends for me to ‘hang out with each day’. They are all very nice and friendly. We chat back and forth and I see them out playing from my window. I will be able to join them soon…but I need to do things in baby-steps first to get ready for the bigger paddocks. It is really special…and all of my new friends are great…both horse and human. I’ll let you know about my new caretakers soon. They are very, very nice. Mario and John have spent a great deal of time chatting and working with them…my every need being discussed and met. LUCKY ME!
At 3 today (I’m on KY TIME NOW), some photographers are coming to the farm to take photos of me outside. Dottie has been working with Sarah (at Lane’s End) and our web-site people to help get photos and videos up for all of you so you can see me!
I hope you are well…and enjoy all of my updates.
I’ll keep you posted.
With Love,
Hugs~

RE: MOUSSE
It’s all in the perspective! AP INDY is a 100 Lbs. Overweight! THAT is great care! So we all need to be educated on starting her out as a breeding machine at 6 and 1/2 yrs of age instead of waiting a couple of years. Horses can live to be 30 yrs of age. Our “National Treasure” who is so EXCEPTIONALLY special should have other options available to her for a period of time to transition HER to BREEDERHOOD…..and I will LOVE her first foal! IT’S about the money, NOT the BEST interest of ZENYATTA.

Hi Big Mama!
I’m relieved that your trip went smoothly. And I’m very pleased that you have a window in your stall that you can look outside. We all know how you like to see everything going on around you.
This is going to be a way different lifestyle than what you’ve had for a long time, and we know you’re going to miss competing, but, in time, you’ll love the leisure of retirement. Altho having a baby might be a little work, you’re a big, strong, healthy girl, and you should do fine. You’re going to be a wonderful doting mother.
I hope to be able to come out and see you there next summer!
Kay
Hello Zenny, you beautiful girl! I agree one hundred percent with “Ingrid in MA” who suggested a 24 hour webcam…that would be perfect for all of us and not intrusive. Of course, we are selfish–it’s so hard to let you go. I’m so glad that your team is there to help you transition. We all love you so much, beautiful girl.

Hey Z-girl….keep warm. Hope I can see you in your new home sometime. You are the best!!

So so happy to hear from you Z! Its good to hear you are settling in well because I didn’t think you looked very happy in the video in your new stall. I’m sure you are wondering where all the fans are that have been coming to see you for the last few weeks and now its very quiet. Know we are still out there thinking of you and hoping you get used to your new routine and that the new family that will take care of you every day will come to love you as much as John, Mario and Carmen and the rest of your California family did. Please give Dottie a big hug when you see her for continuing to help you write us! Sleep good Zenny! xxoo

Dear Zenyatta,
I could tell when you were walking around that you were trying to hear the race track noise…no race calling or barn noise…it’s ok you will love the peacefullness of this new place. What is the cats name? Maybe your new friend will sleep in your stall with you to keep you company for a while. Cats sense when things are not quite right. I have 2 girls named Attie and Tessie and Tessie is a big talker just like orange kitty here! I love your big stall and the HUGE window for you to look out. That is great!
Sarah, Thanks for the update. We love this horse, she is really SPECIAL!
NB/Ca
Thanks so much for our update pretty girl! Too cute! And much appreciated by this long time California fan of yours! It’s going to be 80 degrees back home tomorrow-say the word and we’ll send you a palm tree if you’re feeling homesick!:)
Jeanne
Wow! Your new “home” with the large windows that provides plenty of light and grassy outdoor space sounds nicer than the apartment that I am living in here in Lexington. May I come join you? I make a great roommate! I am quiet, will keep the stall clean and provide you with apples, peppermints and Guinness.
Joan
I’m so glad you are well and happy, dear Zenyatta. I know you will enjoy hanging out with your girlfriends soon. I hope Life Is Sweet is there. I have heard she is your special friend and I am sure having her there would help you get used to your new life all the sooner. I’m glad you are keeping warm and happy.
Sandra Ryan
I bet Zenny would rather be out on that race track, kicking up dirt in the ole boys faces rather than standing in a stall or pasture, pregnant for the rest of her life. Oh, well, such is fate.
Teach those babie of yours to run like the wind, just like you. Wish you were here!

I thought Zenyatta was happy until I saw the stall video. The woman sounds so fake and the new groom seems afraid of her or indifferent. She is looking for someone. She wants Mario. I hope she adjusts.
Maria
I love you Queen Z and I miss you so much. Please keep us posted on how she is adjusting to her new home. Thank you.

Linda Bulger
are there any pictures or videos of Zen in KY where can they be seen?
Cathleen
Hi Zenyatta, so glad you are doing well. Have you been able to visit with Life Is Sweet yet? Did John get to see her? Glad all is going well. But I’m sure you miss Mario, John and the gang. Can’t wait to come see you in KY!
pamela manzer
Enjoy your new home Zen I know that your surroundings are new, you will be just fine. As a fan I know that you are in great hands with your new family human and with the other mamas-to-be. love you Z

What is she,Zenyatta, going to do on cloudy days? The window lets sunshine in, but what about cloudy days? Is the barn heated? Will she be warm enough? Are blankets enough? I’m glad she traveled okay, and that everybody arrived safely. We’re all sounding like a bunch of clucks sitting on our egg ‘Zenyatta’. Updates are swell, thank you to the responsible parties. Well, she has a swell feline to keep her company, things are looking up.
Fran
Hi Z: So glad to hear that you are doing well. You are doing well in Kentucky, and you are going to have such a good time running around in the paddock-once you get acquainted with everything. I hope you get a nice Christmas Wreath on your stall door-I bet you do. And, I bet Santa will bring you some goodies. Thanks so much for staying in touch with us Z! I took Kate to see Dozey today. She is at the trainers now so she is not five minutes from the house. We miss her, but she is doing wonderful too. Much to our trainer’s dismay, Dozey got about 8 carrots today!!!!

Yeah, I agree with you Jeanie. I watched that video of Z in her stall and I was very surprised by the handlers reaction to Zenyatta. Zenyatta is brand new to the barn so you would think they would be thrilled working with her and instead they seem so indifferent to her. I am really surprised especially for horse people. I found it very strange.
PJJ
Lane’s End, I know you will be good to Zenyatta. I have to ask you this question, Why must you use a lip chain on Zenyatta? She shouldnt require such a hurtful pain as that. How long are you going to make her wear it? Do you leave it on her at all times or just jam it in her mouth when you want to walk her?
Lanie Johnson
Thank you sooo much for these posts! You people are wonderful!! It’s soo special for all of us!
I knew you’d be happy there Zen…the future holds a great life for you! Goodnight sweet girl..may the sun of Ky shine bright on you…til tom…sweet dreams..from your friend..you and I here under the moon..over..Ky.
Linda / NJ
I also watched the video of Zenyatta being walked and the guy walking her along with the person filming didn’t even bother to talk to Zenyatta. I find that very strange.
PJJ
I hope John and the Moss’s and Mario all look at her videos at Lane’s End and see how unhappy and bewildered she looks. I know it takes some time to get accustomed to new surroundings but they arent making over her like she is used to. I look for Zenyata to go through a depression real soon. I hope she doesnt start to lose weight and grieve.
Lanie Johnson
Jeanie…where did you find this video of her? Thanks so much for posting it if you see this! I appreciate it!
M Diane Johnson
Zenyatta, Would Ann M be comforted if she could watch you whenever she feels like it on a WebCam — just like the baby pandas at San Diego Zoo have on the SDZoo Website?
Cheryl
Hello Zen girl! I hope you love Kentucky! You are a blue grass lady after all! I wish we could see a video of you every day! I love watching your party at Keaneland. You are so beautiful and proud, but at the same time gentle and kind. I love you so much. I love how you make me feel. Its like beauty and hope and awe all wrapped up in one magnificent horse. Thank you for giving us all your gift. Cheryl
Flora
Zenny, just be sure and tell us as soon as you get a boyfriend, ‘K? :-)

Toni…yes, I believe. I recommend you go to the website Notes from the field-Backside 55 and read the latest update from someone who knows Team Zenyatta very well. You’ll feel much better.
