Hello Everyone,
Wow…it is a bit chilly here…snow and all…but I like it!
I am so excited all of you are wondering what I am up to these days! Well, lots is happening…and ALL OF IT is FABULOUS! I am SO HAPPY!
On Tuesday and Wednesday, I had lots of things to get used to in my new ‘home’. The Moss’, John, Dottie, Steve and Mario all stayed to help me in this transition.
My new stall is great. I have a wonderful big window looking out to several large paddocks. I will get to go out and play in them once I am fully acclimated. The sun shines in my window…so even though it is cold outside…I have lots of sunshine and warmth. I also have a wonderful warm blanket that keeps me cozy.
Both Tuesday and Wednesday, they took me for walks in the barn. Then John took me for walks outside…getting me used to everything. There is a round area right outside my barn that is grass. (snow on top right now) It is about the size of my grazing area in CA. John would take me out there and let me walk for about 30 minutes each time…and then let me graze on the grass. (After I walked on it, the snow was moved aside and the grass ‘popped’ up.) The snow is fun…and feels great on my feet. The grass is lush and plentiful. It is terrific. Then I’d get to stand in the sunshine and just look around for a bit. It is beautiful here.
After this, I’d go in my stall. I’d get to eat and drink water, snack on a few bites of banana and carrots and spend some time with my new friends. This is so relaxing.
My barn here has about 8 other girlfriends for me to ‘hang out with each day’. They are all very nice and friendly. We chat back and forth and I see them out playing from my window. I will be able to join them soon…but I need to do things in baby-steps first to get ready for the bigger paddocks. It is really special…and all of my new friends are great…both horse and human. I’ll let you know about my new caretakers soon. They are very, very nice. Mario and John have spent a great deal of time chatting and working with them…my every need being discussed and met. LUCKY ME!
At 3 today (I’m on KY TIME NOW), some photographers are coming to the farm to take photos of me outside. Dottie has been working with Sarah (at Lane’s End) and our web-site people to help get photos and videos up for all of you so you can see me!
I hope you are well…and enjoy all of my updates.
I’ll keep you posted.
With Love,
Hugs~

SO GOOD to hear from our girl…but, Z, Iknow you are used to not going out with a blanket on, but maybe John or the Mosses could talk to whomever is in charge of your care & get a blanket while they are out walking you, just for your safety. I too noticed, no blanket on you in your video today on facebook!
Stay warm, spring will be here soon. You do sound so happy & glad to hear John & Mario talked to them about meeting ALL of your needs & nothing less…
Kudos, Team Z
Wendy
I’m so glad for the update. I was wondering how things were going. Good luck Z.

Hey Zenny: So good to hear from you!!! So many of us were wondering how you were doing and hoping you were okay with adjusting to your new home. Sometimes change can be a little scary at first. Glad to hear you are okay and your family is still with you as you get settled in. Sounds like your new friends will be a lot fun to hang out with. You girls will have lots of fun chatting it up. I can’t wait to see pictures of you in your new home. Sending lots of love, Linda

My Sweet Lady Zenyatta, I am thrilled to hear The Moss’, John, Dottie, Steve & Mario are staying with you. I was worried about you and that big change from racing to relaxing. I am so happy for you that you like it. I love the fact you have a window to see what’s going on. I know you will learn a lot from the other girls.
I love you, Zenyatta! Love, Amanda

Thank you, thank you for keeping us up to date. I have the pictures and video I took at Hollywood on Dec. 5 to look at always. Hope I can visit you in Ky someday.

Thank you Dottie-this post was great because the video posted of her in her new barn was sad because she looked nervous and confused-as anyone would be after leaving John’s Barn that has been her home! Her fans just love her so much and just want her to be happy which I’m sure she will be:) Thanks again!!!

With your great attitude, Zenyatta, and your super intelligence, you are going to figure things out faster than it takes Liza G. to sing, “You’re the greatest racehorse that we’ve ever seen!” You’ll be happy, and your fans will be happy to continue hearing about your adventures as Chapter 2 begins! I love you very very much!
Kath
Thank you for the post, I think we’ve all become a little addicted to seeing Zenyatta. I wish that every horse could be as lucky as Zenny.

OH ZEN..We ABSOLUTELY ADORE YOUR UPDATES!!! WE were all going quite crazy last nite, from loss of contact with you. I, myself, have to attempt to wean my way out of your every moment. I truly do not know what type of ‘fixation’ has been imbedded within me concerning you…but you have all but stolen my soul!! I spend every free moment, & also not free moments, checking this site. Now, not only is your post not sufficient anymore, but I must read everyone elses; plus search the web for new photos, new articles, etc. I truly did have a life before you entered mine, but now it is pretty well lost to everything ‘non-Zen.’ You are truly magical & hypnotical; we’ll never get enough of you!! XXXXOOOS

Here is an idea: install a stall cam. Sell subscriptions and the proceeds could go to a charitable organization for retired racehorses who need TLC. I know Queen Z would like this idea because she has such a generous soul.
Debbie
Until I spent all my money to see you at the BC race I thought I’d lose touch, so I’m very cited about the diary communication and I pray for a very happy loving environment for you. The web kam idea would be fabulous, may we fans shout get a campaign out for the webcam to happen. It would be too cool!
I pray for you to star safe and have fun you haved earned it.
Debbie from OHIO

SOOOOOOO good to hear from you Z!!!! It was agonizing not knowing how you were acclimating in COLD KY, away from all you know. You ARE so lucky to have your human loved ones with you at your new home, making sure your needs are met. I hope they don’t allleave at once – that would be sad indeed :(
I have thoroughbreds too, and I feel so glad for you that your friends are will you. PLEASE keep in touch! HUGS <3

Hi Folks: What is a lip chain?
Toni R.
Does everyone really believe what is written? I was at Keeneland on Dec 6 from Colorado to “see the BEST girl ever”. It was 3 degrees with the wind chill……Zenny, NO blanket, NO leg wraps.
EVERYTHING Zenyatta DID for HORSERACING will be totally undermined by giving ZENYATTA GENERIC care. I believe Dottie is writing the posts(don’ know for sure ), and we need 24 hr. Cam on ZENNY to know how she is really being treated. she has NEVER had a bit in mouth other than racing. I don’t buy ALL these FLOWERY words. WHY wasn’t she provided with her OWN SPECIAL team NOW in retirement? It’s ALL about M O N E Y!!!!!!!
Lisa T - California
Zenyatta you are LOVED so much my many, we just want the best for you and can’t help but wonder and worry. I’m sure you will be well taken care of there at Lane’s End. We love hearing from you! Please keep the posts, photos and videos coming. WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU DEARLY!!!!
Donna
Be happy Zenyatta. I will think about you all the time and keep in touch. I love you so much. The people caring for you are the luckiest people in the world.

Well, Zen…you are the only reason my mom lets me stay up past my bedtime & how awesome is that. I just watched your videos on facebook, and could stay up and watch them over & over again. I am so in love with you & at 5, just think of how long I will have you in my heart! My mom is now saying lights out to me too…my mom heart back from the Lane’s End staff & we have your address, so you should look for something in the mail from us. I hope by Christmas! Good night & as always, keep you in my dreams & close to my heart
Love, Ella

Calm down, Toni…..horses handle the cold much better than you think and she has to get acclimated to it…..it’s not gonna hurt her…Geez

And Toni, Zenyatta is typing this herself…I’ve seen the videos of her doing this on youtube
