Good Morning,
I want to wish all of you a very Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Please be safe as you travel and enjoy your free time! This is technically the opening day of the ‘SUMMER SEASON’. It is such a terrific time of the year!
On the West Coast, we have the Hollywood Park Meet running now. In mid-July, Del Mar opens for their summer season. On the East Coast, the Belmont Meet is in full swing now. Then those horses move upstate to Saratoga for their summer racing dates. In between, Churchill and Delaware Park, to name a few venues, will enjoy their seasons. It is a very exciting time in racing. These summer meets are FUN! I always enjoyed them! The big stake days are quite crowded and the people are always so enthusiastic!
I’ve heard many people also like to BARBEQUE on holidays. My Pals and I are very content to GRAZE! One thing for sure, we all like to be with our friends and have a GREAT TIME!
This is the view I have each day from my gorgeous paddock. My pals and I get to share time with our friends and enjoy this absolutely lovely scene each day! We have soft breezes here now and the sunshine is just perfect!
It is funny how the simple things we see so often in nature can be so special! It is really the time of the year to enjoy the outdoors and all the beauty nature provides for us!
FROM MY HOME, TO YOURS… HAVE A SAFE AND BLESSED HOLIDAY!
I’ll catch you up on ALL of the news next week! HOOVES CROSSED!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear J. Smith:
I agree. Don’t think we will ever know what really happened. It will be fun to see how the Queen’s Street Cry colt does in the Epsom. Love Frankel. Hugs, J.B.
Dear Terry Crow:
Wow. That should be interesting. Hope they are back together. Hugs, J.B.

Dear Zenyatta,
As always, great reading what you write. I think you gave us a subtle but big hint about next week’s news. TOO CUTE. Hooves always crossed for you. Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all.
Blessings,
MaryAnn

@J Smith–Thank you for your comments. I will get off my soapbox now and will not mention Life at Ten’s race again unless someone else opens the conversation. You are the first one to bring up the safety of the jockey and, for that matter, the horse. The jockey was also the only one to bring this up before the race. And, yet, he was the only one fined. @Judy Berube–don’t know why these two were picked or why they agreed to it. Am looking forward to hearing more.

Thanks for the Epsom derby website. Don’t forget
To watch HRTV this week. Lots info on Epsom Derby.
Yes, I remember hearing about Carlton House and his
Sire Street Cry. It seems he and his son Street Sense
Are going to be very popular sires. Good luck to the
Queen (GB) at the Epsom.

@ Abigail
I think I remember you mentioning the TB
Breed originating in 1700’s. Did the royals in
GB develop or participate in developing the breed.
It seems they are all very interested in horses.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend To My Sweet Lady Zenyatta! To get to see what you see everyday is just too beautiful for words! I know if I had that view I would not get a thing done becasue I’d just stand there and gaze just like YOU! Thanks so much to Dottie for sharing this most beautiful Blessing!Zenyatta, I want to tell you that Memorial Day is such a special time for all of us to look at our Blessings we have and give Thanks for all the Veterans that served & gave their life so we have the freedoms we enjoy today. Without these heroic men & women, none of our life as we know it today, would be possible.
Now to you Zenyatta, I have a feeling that we will hear some good news, some really good news in the near future. I am so excited for YOU & All of Your Z Family. Zenyatta,I’ve shared with YOU many Posts back how I feel about God creating you and now I am so Thankful that I get to see YOU reaping the Blessings & Benefits of your Believeable hard work. Being at L.E is so close to perfection on earth. I always get joyfully weepy eyes when I think of you each & what you’ve accomplished & what lies ahead for you. Life Is So Good for You! Just love you so much!Praying for continued good health & your safety & to enjoy sunshine & fun with friends! The weather here is so beautiful and I know it is there so enjoy the Ky. Bluegrass with family & friends.I have to tell you,I don’t eat bar-b-que either. I’m almost full vegetarian. It’s too many levels of vegetarians to keep up with but all I know is since I started this in Jan. my quality of health has improved greatly. My energy & overall feeling has improved. I’m told I look better now. I often ask “Did I look bad before?”:)They smile:)I’m like you, I had rather have all fresh uncooked fruits & veges but I do add a lot of nuts. Drink plenty of H2O.
Zenyatta, I waited to last to share my bad news with you. Ele,my 13 y.o. niece, is singing this weekend in a Memorial service Sun morning. My sis-in-law, Kathy, Ele’s Mom had breast cancer 10 yrs ago. I found out last night that the breast biopsy was positive and the breast cancer is back. The tumor is maglinant and has entered the duct system. The surgeon’s apt. should be next week and then surgery will follow soon. Charles, Kathy & Ele are my only close human family I have left. I love them so much. I am asking You & Z’s Fan Family to pray for Kathy for continued strong faith, strength & comfort to endure her treatment of Breast Cancer and to pray for Charles, Ele & myself in this time.
Zenyatta, Thanks for reading my long letter & listening to me. Zenyatta, I think of you as a dear friend and I love you so much & I love The Z Fan Family!
Sending Hugs & Kisses From Alabama With Love, Amanda G
@ Chris H-Congratulations on the little Filly! She is a real miracle. The name fits her perfectly. I’m adding you & the mama & little filly to my prayer list for continued improvement.
@ Diana Hanson–I am so sorry for your loss of that foal. This is just so heart breaking.
To anyone “Can the breeders tell if a foal is going to be in a Red Bag? Can they see that on ultrasound or do you only see it when they are born?” What makes the red bag happen? Why causes the foal not be able to break through the bag?

Thanks for link on MMM’s new shoes. I was wondering
When Kathy was going to change his shoes. He needs
The best ones running in these Grade 1 stakes. I love
His huge long stride. It is so fun to ride a horse with
A long stride. They usually leave everyone behind.
OH will now he has “Gucci” shoes. He is so talented.

Memorabilia collectors, just came across this via the Del Mar site, Giclee prints of Zenny’s painting for sale, by a horse retirement charity (so it may even be a tax deduction, but don’t take my word for that). U get a photo of her painting it too. http://www.cerfhorses.org/zenyattagiclee.html

Kertana just beat the boys by a nose in the
Louisville Handicap, a photo finish. Commentator
Compared to BCC 2010 only with Girl Power.
Go Kertana!!!!

Dearest Sweet “Z”,
I am sorry that Loro was scratched…Fordham Road had a difficult start but did the best possible considering. An absolutely beautiful horse. A winner next time!

Dear Amanda G. – thank you for such a beautiful post. Always from your heart. I will keep your family close in my prayers. My aunt was just diagnosed with breast cancer last year, but since they caught it very early, through her yearly mamograms, she underwent aggressive treatment and is in good shape for the time being. A big hug for Ele…I know she will add to the “Choir of Angels!” God bless you and yours always.

@ signofthetimes: The most famous contribution of the Royal family was undoubtedly Eclipse, who was bred by the Duke of Cumberland in the 18th century. The Queen inherited a string of racehorses when her father, George VI, died in 1952. All her winners have raced in her famous royal colours of purple body with gold braid, scarlet sleeves and black velvet hat with gold fringe. In her coronation year of 1953, her horse Aureole was second in the Derby. Since then, she has won all five Classics except the Derby. Most famously, she won the Oaks in 1977, her Silver Jubilee year, with Dunfermline.

Too bad we didn’t put anything on Slane Castle 70/1!! With JJ Steiner who hasn’t had a win since…well you know when. TOO FUNNY!! I said to my husband “always put a little 10 spot on when you see odds like that” :) We are still laughing! Yes, as our “Z” says, Lady Luck always holds the final cards. Big carryover on that one!

I can’t wait to hear all your news, Zennie. My fingers are crossed that your news is what we are all waiting to hear. I hope so much for the best for you.

@Abigail
Thanks so much for the historical account
Of the early breeding of the TB. I need to read
More about Eclipse. The Queen (GB) should be very
Excited to win the Derby. And Zenny’s Dad may
Sire another champion. Of course not like
Our Zenny. Street Cry is really an awesome
Sire.
