Good Morning,
I want to wish all of you a very Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Please be safe as you travel and enjoy your free time! This is technically the opening day of the ‘SUMMER SEASON’. It is such a terrific time of the year!
On the West Coast, we have the Hollywood Park Meet running now. In mid-July, Del Mar opens for their summer season. On the East Coast, the Belmont Meet is in full swing now. Then those horses move upstate to Saratoga for their summer racing dates. In between, Churchill and Delaware Park, to name a few venues, will enjoy their seasons. It is a very exciting time in racing. These summer meets are FUN! I always enjoyed them! The big stake days are quite crowded and the people are always so enthusiastic!
I’ve heard many people also like to BARBEQUE on holidays. My Pals and I are very content to GRAZE! One thing for sure, we all like to be with our friends and have a GREAT TIME!
This is the view I have each day from my gorgeous paddock. My pals and I get to share time with our friends and enjoy this absolutely lovely scene each day! We have soft breezes here now and the sunshine is just perfect!
It is funny how the simple things we see so often in nature can be so special! It is really the time of the year to enjoy the outdoors and all the beauty nature provides for us!
FROM MY HOME, TO YOURS… HAVE A SAFE AND BLESSED HOLIDAY!
I’ll catch you up on ALL of the news next week! HOOVES CROSSED!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Thanks so much Z for sharing your view with us. I remember you telling us a few posts ago that you have 2 new paddock friends. What are their names, and is there any chance we can see a picture of all 4 of you in it? I have noticed lately that all the pics you share with us are head shots. Is this because you have gained a litte weight lately?…WINK, WINK. BLUSH, BLUSH. It’s ok big girl, alot of us have gone through the same thing and we will be happy to support you through it. Bottom line, we just want you to be healthy and happy, what ever the case may be. Looking forward to seeing some pics from your visit from Ann, Dawn, Dottie, etc. on your birthday and some recent pics of you and your gal pals in the paddock. Miss seeing you, Z. Love you with all my heart and soul, you are simply he BEST!

Dear Zenyatta:
@Dmama your idea is terrific i.e. a book of the diary posts. That would be special. You must tell Dottie and your John about this.
Love you Zenyatta!

P.S. Z, Eblouissante is absolutely gorgeous, she has an aura of pure class like you and your Mom. I will be supporting her 100%! I hear from my friend Barbara Sanders who visited with her on Preakness Day at Barn 55 that she is big and very sweet. She licked Barbara’s hands when she 1st saw her. Barbara said you that she is very smart, inquisitive, and wants to know all there is to know about training and what goes on in the barn. Steve and Mario said that everyone in the barn calls her Eblouissante but I am sure she will have many names like you, Z. I am excited about seeing her race, but I know that John will let her grow into herself so that she can become the best at who she is. He’s great about being patient and allowing these things to happen. Just like your training. Thanks for sharing her with us. She is a class act just like you.

Happy Memorial Day to you too Zenyatta!!! I love summer season too!!

Dearest Z, That is a beautiful view. Please thank Isabelle on our behalf for the photo. Good night now and sleep tight.
@Shannon from Cool-—Nice one–“Z’s PAD-dock”!
@Cathie—Very touching that the red shouldered hawk will be learning to “fly with the wind” again wearing Zenny’s colors.
@Mary Whitmer—It’s too bad that Yavapai Downs in Prescott, AZ has canceled its 2011 season. I read they are still trying to plan for a 2012 season. I hope they succeed with that.
@Susan in TN—-Hope you feel better tomorrow, but be careful, don’t spread yourself too thin. Remember to look after yourself, too, first because you deserve it, and second because you won’t be able to help all the others if you wear yourself out. That said, I will be looking forward to the next installment of Rescue at River Edge when you are up to it. (I don’t know how you do it all.)
@DJ—Thanks for the information about the memorial service on Thursday for Michael Baze. I might be able to go.
@Diana Hanson—Condolences on your mare’s losing the foal. Best wishes for her next breeding.
Marshall (girl's name)
Ms. Z: Beautiful view for an exquisitely beautiful creature! You are the BEST!!! Have a wonderful Memorial Day!
@Chris H.: Pulling for your little “Miracle”and her mama, too! All the best!
@Diana Hanson: So sorry for the loss of the foal — give your mare lots of hugs as I know you have already done. All the very best wishes for the next time!
Hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day — don’t forget the ones who should be honored, and keep them in your prayers and thoughts, always.
All the Best from North Carolina!

About 60 days end of next week? My mare will have her heartbeat check June 2 so DOUBLE HOOVES CROSSED!!!!
Z you are definitely turning into the “Oprah of the equine world!” Keep up those posts to the diary!

Z, you are so missed this year, racing is kinda boring without you. If things don’t work out with Bernie, it would be cool (wouldn’t it folks?) to see you come back to the track and do your thing again. You are still young enough, and I know strong enough, so everyone, don’t get upset if something that you are thinking does not happen. This happens in alot of mares, did for one of ours, was very sad, but Mother Nature is the one who decides. If I had just a wish, it would be to see you run in the BCC just once more and get that 20th win!
Linda in NJ
Hi Zenny: Wishing you a very Happy Memorial Day weekend. I would also like to remember our veterans who have fought for the freedoms we enjoy. Isabelle thank you for the beautiful photo. Zenny, your surroundings are really beautiful. Are the other paddocks really far from your paddock or are some of them close enough for you to visit with your neighbors. Well, I am very anxious to hear all your news-wink, wink!!!! I have been looking at the calendar trying to figure this all out. Take care, Zenny and wishing your family and all your connections a wonderful and safe weekend too.
Susan A.

Oh, Z.. tell John “Good Luck” this weekend at Hollywood Park!
Is Mike still riding for him? Know he rode Astrology in the Preakness but top jocks move from horse to horse and also rack up tons of frequent flyer miles over a season. Can hardly wait to see
him on John’s horses soon!!!

-crosses fingers-I HOPE that means what I think it means :D We need a baby Zen to look forward to ;)

I cannot wait! There is so much going on! Motherhood for you, I hope, the Belmont, Breeders’ Cup! I hope we have a chance to see you in the fall as we are going to KY for Breeders’ Cup. May you have a wonderful Memorial Day and weekend. Here in California we will do our best to enjoy it.
Here is to all the service men and women who have given their lives for their countries. We will remember you always. God Bless our troops and keep them safe wherever they are.

Wow, a room with a view. Such beautiful surroundings.
Happy Memorial Day weekend Zenyatta! (You are better off without the barbeque, Z, the “greens” are better for your figure. :)

Good morning Zenyatta. What a beautiful view. I am so glad you get to see this everyday. You deserve only the best. I thought about you this morning on my run. I ran 7 miles first time since my injury. It felt good. I was wondering what you were doing when I was running. I was hoping out with the girls relaxing. I wanted to tell you that yesterday was an emotional day for me. Some of the children made me card thanking me for teaching them about racehorses like you sweet girl. You know how special their cards are and they just touched ny heart. It is funny that the smallest things in life bring a person the most pleasure. I have one little girls picture on my refrigerator. She drew you with your baby. It is so cute and from her heart I just had to put it up. My children have really embraced horse racing and have learned so much from this site. I am so greatful. I hope they also remember the social studies I taught them too. This week we did a unit on Memorial Day. There is so much more about it and I felt it was very important for them to learn this lesson. The one book we worked on asks everyone to stop at 3:00 p.m. on Memorial Day and think of a reason or person your thankful for. I hope they remember. Well my sweet Queen I am excited to hear your news next week. I just feel so lucky that as a fan I get to be included in your life. This is exciting for me :) I love you Zenny. HUGS and KISSES, Shari XXXOOO
@ HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY. Thank you to all the MEN and WOMEN who gave their lives for out freedom. Thank you to All active Military.
@ Tried to call Dawn. I left her a message :)

Remember the Americans who died to keep this country free, especially this weekend, but every day of the year. Let Old Glory fly from your flagpole!! and say a prayer for those still fighting for us. Also a small prayer for those going through the flooding in Montana sure can’t hurt! Go to http://www.billingsgazette.com to see many flooding pictures. The weather channel doesn’t think Montana is important enough to mention. Have a great weekend!!

Dear Shari Voltz: ‘Brick by brick, my citizens; brick by brick .. .’ (Red Pollard to Seabiscuit, in their 2003 film). ~ With Corbusier`s, ‘Creation is a patient search,’ adding the framed quote on the office wall of a dedicated Prescott, Arizona, educator: “The first law of intelligent tinkering is to save all the parts.” Good memories & memorials, All & ‘Safe trip.’

Perhaps you thought that you were doomed to horrible cold wet snowy weather a few months ago. Yet you understood to trust your Calif family and endure whatever came.
And so because of your patience and their devotion to you, you are where you are and returning their love ten-fold by just being their horse, doing your horsey thing, day after day, in the beautiful green pastures they chose for you.
Zenyatta, this was their plan for you along, and His plan, too.
Dorothy Hopper
Zenyatta, you are truly blessed to have such a beautiful home and view! Enjoy this holiday weekend, we in Michigan will have to wear our coats to the beach! Can’t wait to hear the news!

Just heard herard on HRTV that AK is thriving
After the Preakness. He had his feed increased.
Glad you pointed out the stamina in his pedigree.
They also pointed a two year of 1/2 sibling, I think
Colt, by AP Indy just came to FairHill for training.
Grant said “if you can’t beat them join them”
He seems a lot like John Sherriffs in a different way
But on the conservative side.
They also said no Bob Baffert horses in Belmont most of his
Are late bloomers. There are a few other that were
Expected but not coming to the Belmont as well. I think
The field was small when Secretariat ran.
Have a quiet peaceful day Zenny.

@Vicki B
Sorry typos
Pointed a two year old 1/2 sibling by AP Indy to
Train at FairHill. That is what I get for using I phone
To type.

Beautiful Zenyatta, Such lush surroundings for you to enjoy, you certainly deserve the best that life has to offer. Maybe in June another national holiday will be created, “Zenyatta’s Day”. Hope, Hope. Safe and happy holiday to you and all your connections and fans.
