Good Morning,
I want to wish all of you a very Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Please be safe as you travel and enjoy your free time! This is technically the opening day of the ‘SUMMER SEASON’. It is such a terrific time of the year!
On the West Coast, we have the Hollywood Park Meet running now. In mid-July, Del Mar opens for their summer season. On the East Coast, the Belmont Meet is in full swing now. Then those horses move upstate to Saratoga for their summer racing dates. In between, Churchill and Delaware Park, to name a few venues, will enjoy their seasons. It is a very exciting time in racing. These summer meets are FUN! I always enjoyed them! The big stake days are quite crowded and the people are always so enthusiastic!
I’ve heard many people also like to BARBEQUE on holidays. My Pals and I are very content to GRAZE! One thing for sure, we all like to be with our friends and have a GREAT TIME!
This is the view I have each day from my gorgeous paddock. My pals and I get to share time with our friends and enjoy this absolutely lovely scene each day! We have soft breezes here now and the sunshine is just perfect!
It is funny how the simple things we see so often in nature can be so special! It is really the time of the year to enjoy the outdoors and all the beauty nature provides for us!
FROM MY HOME, TO YOURS… HAVE A SAFE AND BLESSED HOLIDAY!
I’ll catch you up on ALL of the news next week! HOOVES CROSSED!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Chris H; I pray for your filly and hope your mare is okay. And thankyou for bringing up our armed forces this Memorial Day. Sometimes we can forget what it is all about.
My sweet Z! I just love everything about you and I am happy to see your view you have, and know the fun you have with your friends. Oh, yes this week-end kicks off summer and a celebration. We put up the small American flags and hopefully get to be with those we love, family or dear friends and barbeque!! I am thankful for you Z and this weekend in the same breath,
Bless our armed forces as well. I am reading certains blogs indicating you may have seen Bernadini is this true. My sister called me today to tell me the news of her daughter that is going to have a baby!! She kept it quiet for three months, because the last time she immediately announced it, and then lost it, she was so so sad. I will always be happy for you Z, even if we know something later. Love with a kiss on your soft nose

Thanks for all the wonderful memories that I think of each and every day which make me smile. Love you lots Zenyatta-you sparkle and shine brighter than any star up above!

Hooves crossed here hoping to hear that you have a baby on the way! I’m rooting for Georgie’s Sweetie at Hollywood Park tomorrow. The owners are friends and fantastic people! (Kind of reminds me of your family in Barn 55!)

A very happy Memorial Day holiday to everyone. While enjoying time with family and friends and doing all of those things which we love best, please let us not forget to remember those who gave up all of their hopes and dreams, so that we might have our todays and tomorrows.

Especially Horses
Zenny, I agree with you, God’s creation (I believe in creation not speculation) is so special and I am so thankful to be able to enjoy such beauty. I just finished reading Randy Alcorn’s book Heaven and he has some interesting commentary on animals and heaven. In one chapter he quotes C.S. Lewis “It seems to me possible that certain animals may have an immortality, not in themselves, but in the immortality of their masters…Very few animals indeed, in their wild state, attain to a ‘self’ or ego. But if any do, and if it is agreeable to the goodness of God that they should live again, their immortality would also be related to man…not this time, to individual masters, but to humanity.” When reading C.S. Lewis’ words I could not help but think of the magnificent Zenyatta. Your strength and symmetry on the track, and now the exuberance you show with the freedom of the paddock communicate the beauty and awesome power of your Maker. I think your immortality could only glorify God.

Ms. Zenyatta, I just can’t wait to hear “all the news.” I hope your holiday weekend is full of sunny skies and horsey delights. I also hope you don’t get any hoof cramps from crossing them so much!!!

Zenny, your view is beautiful – no better sight than horses grazing in a pasture – especially if one of them is you!! Happy Memorial Day to you, your wonderful team and all of your great family of fans. A big thank you to all of our military men and women both past and present.
@ Chris – sending good thoughts to your mare and filly – keep us informed. (thanks Dottie)

Happy Memorial Day to all of my Zenyatta friends. Thank you Z for being such a wonderful role model – both equine and human. I share your news with my students and they enjoy hearing and learning about you. Now they are all “Hooked on Zenyatta”! God Bless everyone at Barn 55, at Lane’s End and on the track…

@Chris H. I had never heard of a red bag delivery so I, too, just got through looking into this type on the Internet. From what I read, if people are there to intervene and open the white bag ASAP so the foal can get oxygen, there is a good possiblity the foal will be OK. Hopefully, the mare expelled all of the red bag. If she did, then she, too should be OK. I like the name Irish Miracle. I also thought of Irish Blessing. Either way, I sincerely hope the filly and mare will be OK.
@Susan in Tn. I thought of another treat for Chester. I remember reading on this site that John gave his horses in Barn 55 sweet potatoes as a Thanksgiving treat. Maybe Chester would like those, too. I guess the prep would be the same as pears. Peel, mush up and see if he likes it. If you decide to try this, please let me know the outcome.
Happy weekend to all and blessings to our troops everywhere.

@Chris H. meant “type of delivery”.

Hi Zenyatta. What beautiful pictures of your view and yesterday’s picture of you and your sister – she is also gorgeous. We are heading down to Oklahoma for great quarter horse championship racing this weekend and then off to Lone Star Park for Memorial Day great card, including the Derby. Should be a great day – weather is going to be very hot, around 99 degrees. Summer is really here!! Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend. Enjoy the beautiful weather and great blue grass and have loads of relaxation and fun with your BBFs. Love you Angel in Disguise.

Hi Z – I know you would salute our veterans if you could! Or an iconic HIGH stepping dance move would serve! At any rate, have a peaceful weekend.
