Good Morning,
It is so hard to believe that it is almost Memorial Day! I know many people get a nice long weekend off to celebrate the holiday. In our world, that of horse racing, it is a time for great racing and fun! On the holidays, the racetracks are usually quite busy. Like many sporting events, they stay open to allow people who are having some time off to RELAX and ENJOY OUR SPORT!
For ME, every day is like a holiday! I am having so much FUN! I get to graze with my friends, relax, and enjoy the absolutely ‘picture perfect’ weather we are having right now in Lexington. Dottie did say it is also ‘gorgeous’ in Arcadia this morning. We are so fortunate!
Several states, though, are presently suffering due to tornados. BLESSINGS to all who are currently struggling with these serious problems. Life does present challenges, that are so often, out of one’s control! MY TEAM and I want to send our warmest thoughts and prayers to all who are in the midst of these difficulties at this time.
Our hearts are with YOU!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Zenyatta I am real proud of Brooke. She is saving a retired race horse and she is so proud. From what she tells me her horse has a baby and Brooke thinks she looks like YOU. Too Cute :) I hope everyone has a happy and safe Memorial Day. Please put out a flag for our heros. XXXOOO

@Shari Voltz. I’m seeing a couple of your students’ posts and am enjoying them so much. Also, congratulations on rescueing Dusty.

@audreyc. I send birthday greetings to Emma. I can just see her in her new fly mask. I’m sure she’s just a fashion plate in it.

My Beautiful Zenyatta~You never cease to amaze me….stay safe.
@audreyc~ Your Emma sounds like a real beauty. Thanks for sharing your “Hot Mamma” with us.
@Valerie Cannon~ Thank you for your service to out country. You are my Hero!
@Amanda G~ Thanks for putting into words the impact that Zenyatta had on my life and heart in her 20th and final race. You explained it perfectly…it is something only true Zenyatta fans can completely understand…thank you.
@Celeste~ very well said.
@Barbara Wood~ Ditto, my feelings as well.
@Terry Crow~ Very interesting fact on the Greyhound racing and the dogs not racing under their real names. I had no idea…but it makes perfect sense.
@Abigail from Montreal and Judy (M) Gadwood~ Thanks so much for the links on Mike Smith…I can never get enough of him and love him so. He is a very special athlete.
@Everyone~ I love you all…my special friends. Stay safe and have a great holiday weekend!!!
Zenyatta’s #1 fan in Montana.

Hey Zenny
Any chance they’ll put you back in training if you’re not going to get pregnant this year? Breeding sheds will close in a couple of months and i doubt your mommie and Daddy want you to have a late foal. you should come back to Cal and race!!
Mary :)

I love you! Hugs & Kisses!

Zenny- your Mike is “winning” over in England (but not in the Charlie Sheen way !)-how exciting! Thanks for the links, everyone. I sure didn’t know Mike rode bulls at one time.Wow! I hope you are having a nice, relaxing day out with The Girls. You are amazing.
@Sharon Call: In my personal experience, the big dogs seem to be affected more by bad weather. I don’t know why. Yes-75 lbs. is big for a lap dog!
@Terry Crow: That’s so funny and logical about the greyhounds!
@Audrey C: That was so good of you to take the baby rabbit in to the rehab place. Sorry he didn’t make it but like you said, he wasn’t alone and I’m sure they had him comfortable.
@Carolyn: Thank you for the update about the eaglets! Your passion for them shines through.
@Brooke: How exciting to be able to help Dusty!Glad your friends have learned about Zenyatta!
@Shari Volz: You may have some larger, older-looking(ahem) 5th graders next year…

Dear Z Fans:
Thanks for all the great links.
To Terry Crow:
We adopted a retired Greyhound. She was five when we got her and she died when she was 14. She was a big girl (almost 70 lbs.) and very gentle and lovable. After having her, I never was interested in betting on Greyhound racing again. Hugs, Judy B.
Terry Crow
@Judy Berube–The Woodlands had a day every few months or so during which retired greyhounds were up for adoption. During the time I was there, about three years, every greyhound found a home. I respect your position. I didn’t go there for the greyhound racing and I didn’t bet on them. I was there for the off track wagering aspect. It happened to be at he greyhound racing part of the facility.

Dear Terry Crow?
Please understand, I was only speaking for myself and my husband. Our Lou Lou was such a baby and wonderful pet and a friend to us that we just looked at Greyhound racing differently. Anyone who enjoys it and bets on Greyhound racing, by all means should do so. Didn’t mean to sound judgmental. And it’s true, most Greyhound facilities now have good adoption programs. Hugs, Judy B.

@Judy Gadwood, thnx for link to Mikey’s race in England. Glad he got to ‘ride out’ (train) in Newmarket. I lived there for a bit, it is horse racing headquaters in England. It’s a small old town, near Cambridge, horses have the right of way there, not peds or cars! A lot of the stables are in the middle of a regular street, so to train, the horses have to walk thro’ town up to ‘The Heath’, which is a common area kind of like fields, at the top of the town. It’s a beautiful sight first thing in the morning to see the horses on the heath, often, mist is swirling around their ankles, magical. A great experience for Mike. I’ll see if I can find link to photo’s. Newmarket, also home to Frankel, wonder if Mike got to meet him?

Terry Crow: ‘Z`s’ life and circles strike such true chords any corrections we have to keep as close to her examples as possible seem to me the reason people trust this site . .. your insights and guidance are most welcome in that respect. Khc.
Sheri
yeah Indiana just experienced some tornadoes last night and they were pretty bad, but not as bad as down south. Well, I’m glad to hear you’re doing great!!! Love ya!!! :D

@Trina & @Signofthetimes – my post was still “awaiting moderation”, so I reposted it on #256 in two parts.

@Amanda & @Abigail from Montreal – enjoyed your conversation on Big Red & Z. I especially liked Penny Chenery’s comment, “I got the boy, but you got the girl.” I will never forget meeting Penny & Ann Moss at H.P. the day of Zenny’s Vox Populi Award.

Z Fans:
John has three horses going at Hollywood, so far, this weekend for Mr. & Mrs. Moss. They are all Maiden Special Weight. Loro and Fordham Road are in the 3rd race tomorrow and Valeria is in the 7th race on Sunday. (Very pretty European sounding names). Jockey R. Bejarano is riding Fordham Road and T. Baze is listed on the other two. Great Holiday weekend to all of you. Remembering our military and their families, Judy and Russ

Dear Zenny & Team-Z,
I missed this entry. Too busy watching CNN and the Weather Channel, getting up-dates on the tornados. My son lives in Cincinnati (just an hour North of you, Zenny) and he tells me all’s been fine there. Enjoy your gazing.
Hugs to you all. Fondly, OraJean

@Trina Nagele; @Sharon Call: come to my house! I will get out my Zenyatta statue, put a blanket down in the living room, run some Zenyatta videos, and we can play make believe!
Allison Thomas
Hey Z! It’s ME, Allison! Missing you girl! If you go on Howrse.com (I’m currently a player), there are so many users and horses named after you! I’m so happy that you’re gonna have a baby and that everything’s going as great as it ever could! I’m in Texas, current time is 1:30 AM and I’m still awake reading through every entry! Love ya and catcha later!

Zenyatta, I would watch horseracing on Memorial Day if I didn’t have to work. As it is, I can only watch what’s left after I get home. Beautiful weather doesn’t hurt things either. You are fortunate not to be in or near the midst of all those tornadoes that have been happening in other places. I’m glad your heart goes out to all the people who have had to deal with them. Every day is a holiday to you because you are always having so much fun! Your buddies out on the field and you even get to drink beer sometimes. If I had the whole weekend holiday off as well as a lot of money, you can bet I’d find a racetrack to go to if I couldn’t find anything better to do.
