Good Morning,
It is so hard to believe that it is almost Memorial Day! I know many people get a nice long weekend off to celebrate the holiday. In our world, that of horse racing, it is a time for great racing and fun! On the holidays, the racetracks are usually quite busy. Like many sporting events, they stay open to allow people who are having some time off to RELAX and ENJOY OUR SPORT!
For ME, every day is like a holiday! I am having so much FUN! I get to graze with my friends, relax, and enjoy the absolutely ‘picture perfect’ weather we are having right now in Lexington. Dottie did say it is also ‘gorgeous’ in Arcadia this morning. We are so fortunate!
Several states, though, are presently suffering due to tornados. BLESSINGS to all who are currently struggling with these serious problems. Life does present challenges, that are so often, out of one’s control! MY TEAM and I want to send our warmest thoughts and prayers to all who are in the midst of these difficulties at this time.
Our hearts are with YOU!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

My prayers go out to those torando victims. Dear Zenny I have been waiting for a new pic to add to my growing collection on my computer Thank you! You are one awesome creature!
LouAnn Cingel of Union, Missouri
Lovely pic of you Zenyatta! So glad that you are living a life as if it were a holiday everyday. You deserve the best and I am so happy that you are doing so well. Thanks too for being so concerned about us out here in the midwest that have been getting such terrible weather and suffering the wrath of the devil. I live in Missouri but fortunately live in Union and not Joplin. Joplin was nearly completely destroyed by tornado a few days ago and it took so many lives. Today more real bad weather loomed in through our state but luckily we are doing ok. Back in the beginning of spring, we had a tornado that came through here and did damage, just so frightened now when it storms, especially since I live in a mobile home. Am so thankful for each day that I am alive and am able to come here and read your diary.
Love you lots Zenyatta and thankyou for being a part of my life!

The storm victims are in all of our thoughts. So Horrible. Love you Zenny, you help remind us of what it is to be human. It is not the size of the brain, it is the love in the heart. Wink, Wink, Wink Hooves Crossed. Hugs and Kisses

Happy Memorial Day to you too Zenny! And yes, God Bless those who have been hit so hard and suffered so much loss from these tornados and storms everywhere.

@Sue Noel–Seeing Seabiscuit in the flesh must have been quite a thrill. I have been to Ridgewood several times and of course it is nothing like the original farm since the Howards sold the property. I believe it is owned by a church now, but I think that the church needs to get permission to do anything drastic to the ranch. Don’t know for sure, but I think so. In my opinion, Seabiscuit is bigger than he ever was. To those who have been to Santa Anita, a mate to the Seabiscuit statue is at the ranch. @Karen Cogswell and Sue Noel-Jet Pilot was owned by Elizabeth Arden, not Helena Rubinstein. My mother was in the beauty business and knew her slightly. Funny I couldn’t remember her name. @ Judy Berube–Your posts are a delight and I enjoy reading them all. I do read every post before I comment. And @Zenyatta-You have given me a new slant on my life. I used to say that, since I am retired, my biggest regret is that there are no holidays. We are lucky to have team Z and everyone involved with them.

So glad you are enjoying our state and hope you will always be happy here.

Hi Sweet Zenyatta. Yes it was a really beautiful day in my part of Ohio. School is almost over and I feel sad. I really love my students. They are so smart, caring and creative. I have enjoyed this year very much. We have computer tomorrow and some have asked me if they can post. I told them yes so get ready Queen Z. They love you like crazy and still make things Zenyatta. That is too cute :) You look like your enjoying that Kentucky grass. Some of the children picked Kentucky for their state reports. I think because of you. That is fine as long as they are learning. I hope you have sweet dreams tonight and tell the girls hello. I love you with all my heart. Hugs and Kisses, Shari XXXOOO
@ Abigail I wanted to tell you that I own the Secretariat pendant by Jane Heart. It is beautiful and very detailed. I bought mine in sterling and I get a lot of compliments on it. You should check it out :)

Yes, Dottie/Zenny our hearts go out to those suffering from these tornadoes. They are frightening beyond belief. Marilyn Braudrick, I can totally understand why it is hard going back to the barn now that Zenny is in Kentucky. I cannot even imagine how hard it has been for John, Mario, Carmen, Isabel, and everyone who took care of her to have to see that empty stall. But she is having such a good life now running around in the paddock with her friends and that’s what we have to think about.

Well Zeny today was an interesting day. I live in Kansas City, Missouri. I was at work in Liberty,Missouri today when my cell phone rings and my husband calls to say we are under a tornado warning. About that time my boss gets a similar call and the sirens go off and its raining like crazy. At that point I loose cell phone coverage and other people start loseing theirs. We spend the next hour in the walk in cooler. The tornados today were bouncers and rain wrapped. one touched down in Overland Park twice, one at Swope Parkway and last one at Liberty hospital which is across the street and a little north of the store I am at. Fortunately there was very little damage because these dropped and bounced back up. It was unnerving to say the least. The poor people in Joplin just don’t need anything more either. Sedalia, Mo. got hit from this same system and 30 homes destroyed. I will say this those little weather radios are really great because we knew what was going on every minute. To all of you out there don’t take weather for granted and please heed all warnings. I pray for your safety Zeny and the safety of all your pals. To all of you out there God Bless and stay as safe as you can.
Jan
Zenyatta,
Looks like you are enjoying yourself with all that bluegrass. How are your gal pals doing. Many prayers for all the people enduring the devastation of the tornadoes. Keep happy and healthy big Mama.
Abigail from Montreal
@ Jeanie: I loved that observation that it’s all about heart. Thank you.
@ Shari: Thanks for the reference. I will check it out. Another question: how old are your munchkins? I have a spare copy of “I Rode The Big Red Horse” that I will send off to you if it’s suitable for your class. Contact me @ abigail.anderson1849@gmail.com

Prayers are with all those who are having to pick up their lives and start anew. For those that have passed on, peace. I am so glad that you are safe Zenyatta and that you will have a wonderful holiday weekend.
This place we call America, safe and calm. I remember hearing a story that after the outbreak of World War II Charles S. Howard was thinking about building a fallout shelter to protect his beloved Seabiscuit. He didn’t but isn’t it interesting how times have change in some small way. Blessings on all our troops who keep us safe and to quote from “A Few Good Men,” “Stand on a wall and say nothing is going to happened to you today, not on my watch.”
Love you Zenyatta!
Sarah
Stay safe Zen. I hope this crazy weather doesn’t head your way!!
Whoa! Just saw this (Kathy Kimber) I live in KCMO too! Sure was bizzare today!
judy berube
Dear Kathy Kimber:
What you have experienced is scary to say the least. So glad you were not in the direct path of a touch down. We keep praying for the people who were and for this weather system to move out for good. Hugs, J. B.
Pam Zacek,
hello, good afternoon, now, here, but Im glad your staying safe, and Yes, I hope those all affected, by this terrible weather, will try and pick up the pieces of there lives, and have a great weekend, Queen Z, I hoping this crazy weather stops soon for Mo. and all around that area, My God Bless them all and you too, have a grand weekend, and stay safe.
Susan in TN
@LouAnn Cingel of Union,Missouri: I’m so glad you are not in the Joplin area. We’ve dodged the bullet in my part of Tennessee, so far.
@Gary Moulton:Wow! I could spend eons of time and not come up with your Z series idea- sounds like a great idea!
@ Doreen: Great info on all the sisters!
@Terry Crow: Thanks for the answer on the silks and for all your fascinating stories!
@Kimberly Potter:Thank you-and I’m glad Sharon Call had the idea for pears!
@Sharon Call: Thank you! Chester thanks you!
Besides pears(!), he is fed a senior complete feed soaked in water until it pretty much is a mash. He also gets hay and is eating grass, but of course it’s hard to tell how well he is chewing. He gets the complete feed several times per day. He is gradually gaining weight and his coat is getting glossy. He is SO SWEET- he just kind of sidles up to you without making a fuss. I don’t know how much he has been brushed in his recent life (not much) but he LOVES it! The first time, his eyes got a little wide, like,”oh-what’s this?!” and now he stretches out his neck so I can get under the corner of his jaw-and then his top lip beaks out. He is precious.
@Sue Noel: Love your stories! I know I am not the only one who would love to see your pictures. My dad took me to the only live races I’ve ever seen. They were at Arlington Park in the 1960’s. I saw Damascus and Buckpasser race and MAYBE Northern Dancer-but that may be a “false memory”-it’s a little foggy. I saw Willie Shoemaker and Bill Hartack ride and I THINK Eddy Arcaro(fuzzy, too).Anyway, I’m grateful he made the effort because I know it was for me-I was the horse-crazy one in the family!
@Abigail in Montreal: Montreal sounds lovely (in the summer!).
@ Judy Berube:Glad you liked the Seeing Eye Horse story. You are so nice!
Love everyone’s posts.

Yes, my thoughts too are with the people who have lived through the tornados. Tough times for many folks.

I remember being in a tornado years ago when I lived in Versailles right near where YOU, Z, are living now. It was wild!!!

Hi, sweet girl, you really have a lot of nice friends and fans, some of whom I have gotten to know on Facebook, and it would not have happened but for you! You are still teaching us about kindness, caring, love, helping others, and in general making the world a better place. Tell your buddies in your paddock “hi”. Would love to see some new videos of what you all are up to. Big hugs, sweetie! Your friend, Ann Maree

Z…stay safe and dry,it sounds like some of our bad Midwestern weather is heading east. We’ve had a few touchdowns in our state but not in highly populated areas.
