Good Morning,
Look who is peeking out of her stall at BARN 55! It is my dear baby sister, EBLOUISSANTE! We have the same MOM, Vertigineaux, but our sires are different. My DAD is STREET CRY and her’s is BERNARDINI.
John keeps teasing that he would know those EARS anywhere! The first time he saw “E” at Winter Quarter Farm last year, she was in a field with several other yearlings. He got out of the car, looked around for literally one short moment, and said…”there she is, Zenny’s sister”. He felt her body carriage and fabulous EARS were definitely a huge clue. Those qualities truly reminded him of ME!
Per John, Eblouissante is also very, very inquisitive. (Sound familiar???) She wants to always check everything out that is going on in the barn and she pays close attention to all that is happening around her. (If I say so myself, I THINK SHE IS PRETTY SMART too!)
As you can see, she does not have any white on her. Per the Jockey Club, she is considered to be dark bay-brown / black in color. “E” is also a good-sized girl, I know that feeling, with a great shoulder and hip! Our MOM had a great deal of size and presence….so I’m sure some of this we inherited from HER! Lucky Us!
From all reports, “E” is adapting very well to her new environment and really catching on well to the training routines at Barn 55!
John said he’d keep us ALL posted on how she is doing! As her BIG SISTER, I hope I can offer some great advice to her as we go along! Dottie has mentioned to ME that is something big sisters often do!
In reality, that is what is so much fun right now for ME…I can also help to TEACH things to my family and friends drawing upon my wide range of challenges, life-experiences, and accomplishments!
Have a fabulous Tuesday!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Especially my dear baby sister, Eblouissante!)

Zenny, what a great pic of your little sister. We’re sure you will have lots of stuff to share with her about her new family at Barn 55 and racing in general.
You were the Zenmaster and will be the perfect mentor. Is news coming…Wink? Wink?

Just got caught up with yesterday’s posts.
@Kari B: beautiful posts and you’re right-I guess we are kind of worry-warts! Glad your computer is cooperating now!
@Karen Lamb:I am so glad that Dick came into your life, though he had to leave you so soon. Isn’t that something that that snapshot showed up? How wonderful!
@Terry Crow: Love all the racing history!
@Everyone: I definitely made progress today with the two-year-old at the rescue. He let me pet all over his head and neck and followed me around the round pen! His buddy the yearling would turn himself inside-out if I asked him to! He is so funny-such bright, twinkly eyes-he wants to be part of everything! The mare let me pet her new foal today and he seemed comfortable with it. It’s like heaven for me.

She is beautiful – just like you! I’m sure you can share lots of secrets with her……with the “Team” she has now she will do great and I for one will be watching her progress. Your mama must be very proud of you both!
Linda
She is a beauty!!!
Michelle
She is a beauty just like you. Plus she will have a built in fan base. I know most of us will definitly follow her career and cheer her on.

@Susan in Tn. That’s so great. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the rescue work. Sounds like you’re having such a positive influence on the horses there. Can’t wait to hear more.

Everyone. I just went to Ebby’s facebook page. She only has 669 people on there. Let’s get to work and build that up. Here is the link. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Eblouissante/143117319085172?sk=photos

@Susan in TN–The love for what you are doing with the little ones comes through in your posts. May we all be so lucky as to find something that we enjoy as much.

@Ensign. A little off-subject but I went back to post 254 to take another look at the “new” Street Sense filly that John will be training. She’s really impressive. Come on, Ensign, give it up -where the heck are you finding these pictures?
John’s getting quite a collection of fillies with this Street Sense filly and Ebby. Can’t wait to see what happens when they hit the tracks.

always love having a sister!! She is a beauty!
Snoprinz
Zen, thank you for formally introducing your baby sister E to your fans. You are both beautiful like your Mom V. How’s your Mom doing and who owns her now? How about a picture with you, baby sister E amd Mom V together? I’m glad that your baby sister is in Barn 55 where she will be trained and cared for with so much love. How is Z doing these days? I am anxiously awaiting the good news, if you know what I mean.
As for the Lady’s Secret Stakes, the name should NOT be changed to that of Zenyatta. LS was an accomplished racehorse and had earned the right to have a stakes race named after her. I agree with most that Z should have her own stakes race. I am on Ken Johnson’s side.

@Trisha V – I’m with you. I’m always trying to pronounce Eblouissante and Vertigineaux in my head, but I know I’m probably doing it wrong. I just call them E and V!
@Mary B – Congratulations on winning Zenny’s halter. Maybe you could send in a picture of yourself with it. I’m so sorry that you’re alone with no family, Mary, and I’m glad having treasures from our girl Zenny makes you feel better. She has that effect on people. Enjoy your halter and may God Bless you.
Zenny, your little sister is a beauty, just like you! She definitely has your ears! I know you’ll be the best big sister ever. Loving you in Lexington :-)

@ Judy B
Zenny calls her sister “E”.
Perhaps Barn 55 folks calls her Ebby.
I think the Mayberry’s said E dosen’t dance, at least not yet.
Maybe that is something you can teach her Z !!!!!!

Forgot to mention earlier how nice it was to see all the posts about the great Citation!! I will never forget seeing him,and his stable-mate Coaltown,in the pasture at Calumet!!What a thrill for a 12 yr. old “race-nut”!! That visit to Lexington lives in my memory as though it were yesterday–I know I have mentioned it before, but it truly was one of the great events of my almost 73 year old life!!!

Dear Snoprinz:
Vertigineux is now owned by Coolmore Stud Farm. They are international with farms in Kentucky, Austrailia and Ireland. I’m pretty sure Vertigineux is at the Kentucky site. Hugs, Judy B.

Dear Signofthetimes:
I’m not sure, but I think I remember it was an article with Don Robinson where they referred to her as Ebby. Don’t remember what site I found it on, and don’t know if they call her that at Barn 55. Hugs, Judy B.

@Abigail from Montreal
Just looked at your site and sooo glad to see 26 responses for
your excellent Belmont review of Secretariat. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise and life experiences with horses, family
and friends. It is a breath of fresh air !!!!! and very meaningful
around this time of the Triple Crown. Thanks.

Sounds like Zenyatta’s beautiful little sister is known as “E” in Barn 55. Has Zenyatta ever gotten anything wrong? However, we do love her full French name, Eblouissante but that can be a mouth full for many.

Dear Sue Noel:
What a memory to treasure. Hugs, Judy B.

Oh!! I forgot about Don Robinson, but I didn’t remember what he
called her thanks for the reminder. Of course she is Don’s “baby”.
He was a little upset when “V” was sold, but now he can visit Zenny and root for “E” when she races and take care of her foals when she is a broodmare like he did with her mom. What a wonderful family !!

I thought this was something funny on Seattle Slew’s website.
He enjoyed his job as Sire so much that when the winter time came he started looking out his stall window for the mares to come for a visit. I thought that was very precious.

Hi Zeny: John must be so excited and happy to have Eblouissante at Barn 55. Such a cool name. I hope she will have a great future like you. It rans in the blood! Your mom is fantastic and prolific. Hope she stays healthy and strong.
How are you Zeny? Hope you are feeling terrific. Hugs, Marilu

Love to hear all the info I can on Ebby. She looks so cute. I wish her all the luck. I would love to see Mike Smith up when she finally gets to her 1st start. She sure has big hoofs to fill! She will do just fine in her own right. I can’t wait. Godspped Ebby. Lori
Linda/Maryland
Your sister is very pretty Zenny and she has inherited those ears~!!!
How Wonderful~!!!

E is just as cute as Z lol….I know you will give her good advice…muuah

@Sue Noel–You never forget the great ones that you have seen in person such as Citation. Coaltown, a great horse himself, was unlucky to be around at the same time as Citation. In a different year, he would be one of the unforgettable names. That is why I feel fortunate to have seen Zenyatta both in a race and in repose. To our eastern posters–Isn’t there a Lady’s Secret Stakes at Monmouth?
Ellen Zachary
She is adorable!! You will be a wonderful sister for her…xoxo from Colorado! Ellie

Very nice photo of your sister, Eblouissante-bet you’re proud her Zenyatta. Her ears definitely are like yours and sounds like she has a personality that is somewhat like yours. I am looking forward to watching her grow up and will be looking to see her on the track, such a beauty!
You sparkle and shine brighter than any star up above-I love you lots Zenyatta and want to thank you for being there for me-you are my inspiration and you make me smile! sending lots of love and hugs!
