Good Morning,
Look who is peeking out of her stall at BARN 55! It is my dear baby sister, EBLOUISSANTE! We have the same MOM, Vertigineaux, but our sires are different. My DAD is STREET CRY and her’s is BERNARDINI.
John keeps teasing that he would know those EARS anywhere! The first time he saw “E” at Winter Quarter Farm last year, she was in a field with several other yearlings. He got out of the car, looked around for literally one short moment, and said…”there she is, Zenny’s sister”. He felt her body carriage and fabulous EARS were definitely a huge clue. Those qualities truly reminded him of ME!
Per John, Eblouissante is also very, very inquisitive. (Sound familiar???) She wants to always check everything out that is going on in the barn and she pays close attention to all that is happening around her. (If I say so myself, I THINK SHE IS PRETTY SMART too!)
As you can see, she does not have any white on her. Per the Jockey Club, she is considered to be dark bay-brown / black in color. “E” is also a good-sized girl, I know that feeling, with a great shoulder and hip! Our MOM had a great deal of size and presence….so I’m sure some of this we inherited from HER! Lucky Us!
From all reports, “E” is adapting very well to her new environment and really catching on well to the training routines at Barn 55!
John said he’d keep us ALL posted on how she is doing! As her BIG SISTER, I hope I can offer some great advice to her as we go along! Dottie has mentioned to ME that is something big sisters often do!
In reality, that is what is so much fun right now for ME…I can also help to TEACH things to my family and friends drawing upon my wide range of challenges, life-experiences, and accomplishments!
Have a fabulous Tuesday!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Especially my dear baby sister, Eblouissante!)

She sure does favor her big sister. E is lucky to have a teacher like you and John. Is Mario going to be her groom? Z your the best and thanks for the updates.Have a great day Queen Z.

@Ken, I agree Ladie’s Secret should keep her stakes race, is she not Secretariat’s daughter? Queen Zenyatta should have her own stakes race as well, Grade 1. I heard that this may occur in 2009 when Our Queen did not go into retirement, and they postponed the name change. I thought it was Del Mar, but I read so much, at times get confused at what is what, and have to go back and check. Yes both need there own Stake Races. I would be totally out of it if they were to replace Zenyatta with another great mare..I could not accept that.

Love those ears!! No wonder John could pick her out of a crowd!! She IS a stunner! I hope I can go to visit her next time I go down to Calif. to visit my daughter!
Beautiful girl,I hope all of the TERRIBLE weather goes right around Kentucky—and that you are having a great day with the sun on your back and a soft breeze to ruffle your mane!! LOVE YOU!!

Gee,Z, for a quick moment, I thought someone was playing tricks on us and filled in your strip with black paint!
She is a beauty, just like her sister!

Thank you for sharing the wonderful photo of Eblouissante – she is so adorable and yes, there is a family resemblance, especially her beautiful ears! You can offer her so much wisdom and support and I know you will be the best big sister! We will be looking forward to following her as she develops as a racehorse. The racing world just isn’t the same without you, Zenyatta. I am happy for you to be enjoying your retirement from the track and looking forward to your new career as a mom, and I really do try to get to caring about some of these other horses. It just isn’t the same, but I will keep waiting and watching for one to spark my heart again, but you already stole that – lol!

Can she dance Z?

@Sharon, Ebby is not owned by the Mosses.
I believe the original owner of her mom is the owner.

Hi Zennie,
Your little sis is not so little. Her facebook page has her listed at 16.3 hands. I know John, Mario and everyone will give her so much love & attention.
There is a very nice article, Seeing shades of Zenyatta in her half-sister I found on google, but I do not know how to link it…
The article mentions Eblouissante is extremely intelligent, almost out-of-the ordinary intelligent, has a cool attitude & has a lot of presence about her. That sounds like you Zennie! Following the development & career of Eblouissante will be so much fun…Zenyatta’s foal will be a 3/4 relative to Eblouissante.

Thanks for the update on beautiful E. I look forward to hearing more about how she is doing.
Stay in good health Queen Z.

Zenny, your sister is adorable, but nowhere near as beautiful as YOU! I think it’s great that you and your siblings are getting those remarkable ears (and height) from your mom. Let’s get people talking up the MARES and FILLIES for a change!!

Dear Suew:
Ebby’s owner is Eric Kronfeld. He was the original owner of Z’s Mom Vertigineux. Hugs, Judy B.

Zenny-there is something SO CUTE about you having a baby sister! And she does still look so young-and gorgeous! I’m glad you have Dottie to talk to about “things” in general-and then she relays your thoughts so well! Hope you and The Girls are having a great day!
@Mary:How exciting to have Z’s halter!
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the tornado victims.
Laura
Z, you should teach her your dance moves. (:
Fran
Welcome sister to barn 55. Z, you seem very proud of her-as you should be. How are you doing? Hope you are enjoying your day Z. Have a good day Z! xxoo

@Trina Nagele–The old-timers were definitely made of sterner stuff. Although Man O’War only started a total of 21 times, he ran in four races in a span of 17 days at the start of his career. Seabiscuit started a total of 89 times, but his record is somewhat deceiving as he did not develop until he found the right trainer. Seabiscuit and Man O’War both died in 1947. As an addendum, when Sir Barton won the Preakness in 1919 the race was held four days after the Kentucky Derby. It wasn’t called the triple crown then, but Sir Barton was the first horse to run in the Belmont after winning the Derby and the Preakness. Racing history is astounding when you really get into it.

Eblouissante is dazzling as her name indicates!

@suew. Yes, it’s French and it means dazzling.

Wow, E is finally at barn 55 with your beloved team!!! So very happy that she was sent to your John! I had also read I think of FB that she’s a big girl, something like 16 ‘2’ …. I don’t think we’ll see her run as a 2yr old, which is fine, she’ll be on the track when John thinks the time is right. Just look at what he did with you, Z! Love it!!!
HeidiK
BTW… Dottie, can’t you throw us a bone or something on how “Mommy” hood is coming along with Z??? Thanks :)
