Happy Preakness Day to All!
From all reports, it is absolutely GORGEOUS in Maryland this morning. The high will be about 80 with a slight breeze. The wind is blowing softly and the chance of rain is really non-existent. This sounds like the perfect weather for wonderful racing. All the best to each of the participants! My BARN 55 friend, MR. COMMONS, is a very happy guy. He is enjoying his time there…and from what I’m hearing, they have TONS OF LUSH GRASS to graze on right by the Stakes Barn. He must feel perfectly at home!
Steve Haskin of The BLOODHORSE did an interview with Dottie and John yesterday…and several questions were asked about ME! If you have a moment, I thought you might enjoy viewing it. Here it is!
All else is fine. I’m really feeling TERRIFIC and my guys at the barn are quite excited. There is so much going on now, not just with the last few months of the breeding season, but with the Preakness, and all of the Basketball Play-offs. Dialed In, one of the Preakness contenders, is by Mineshaft. He is a wonderful, well-bred stallion who resides at Lane’s End in our Stallion Barn. Astrology is by A.P.Indy. As you know, he has been a long-time favorite who lives here as well. He just recently retired from his Breeding Duties…but his accomplishments both on and off the racetrack are totally amazing.
So, I’m hoping this is really a fun, safe, and terrific race for all! It runs a bit after 6 Eastern Time! It’s getting EXCITING!
Enjoy your weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Zenny, its Preakness day and Iam getting steadily more excited, hope for Mr. Commons despite his bad post position. Stay healthy. Love you Zenny.

I love to see you in the bluegrass, more grass than you can possibly eat by yourself. You deserve the best and you’re getting it! Can’t wait to see your foal cause I know there is one! :)

John Shirreffs was just interviewd on Versus and said the farm will be making an announcement about Zenyatta soon. But he coudn’t say more because “Dottie will kill me”! What a great guy John is. Everytime I see him interviewed I just love him more. He’s the real deal.
Annie
Zenyatta, John just stated on Versus that there is going to be an announcement soon. Hooves crossed!!!!!

Just saw John on Versus. Sounds like a great announcement coming soon!!! I really enjoyed seeing you Zenny in your paddock. Looked like you are having a terrific time. I love you so much. Racing just isn’t the same without you.
Jean M.
Beautiful Zenyatta, You look terrific as always. Just saw your John being interviewed prior to the Preakness and once Mr. Commons was discussed, guess whose name came up. You, of course. John made some very lovely comments on your career, the “museum” stall in CA and the prospect of motherhood. You will never be forgotten. I so wish Mr. Commons success and a safe ride for all. I love you and miss you.
Shannon From Cool
Love to see photos of you sans a stud chain across your wonderful nose.

Hehe John Sheriffs on VS! Randy Moss kinda letting the cat out of the bag that Big Momma Z had another date with Bernie. It’s good to keep things quiet though, bad luck and all that to tell people too soon, cause you never know :o) Can’t wait for that announcement!
Paula Higgins
Loved the interview, love Dottie, love John, love Steve Haskin. Steve got Zenyatta right from the start and her siginificance to horse racing and her fans. It is nice to see Dottie and John at the Preakness. Good luck to Mr. Commons.
Paula Higgins
Boy Steve, got that right “Two of the most popular people in the history of horse racing.” Also, made me laugh to hear Dottie say Zenyatta is “Happy as a clam.” I use that expression all the time.

I love John Sherrifs! So our girl has an announcement coming. Hmm, I wonder what it could be?!

Good luck and safe trip to all today. Makoma scratched from the Milady Handicap at Hollywood Park. St. Trinians finished first but was disqualified to fourth for bumping in the stretch. I still love her though. She looks like an eggbeater when she runs, but she has heart.

Dear Zenny
Looks like you are having a great day. Just read
Mr Commons got a little aggressive on his gallop
This morning and “blew” by a few horses. He is ready
And of course is a definate contender. You look so beautiful
And healthy grazing. A shiny coat means a healthy horse.
Just learned the everyone looks at the horses coats before
A race. Good luck to all the young 3 year olds in the Preakness
Today. May angels be with you all and have safe and
Sound trips. Good luck to AK, MMM and all the others.

@ Dani,
.
LOL. If Zenyatta took on her early April cover, she’ll be past the 45 day mark now. Curious if they’ll announce that this coming week or wait until her 60 day check.

Wishing John and Mr. Commons a bunch of luck today at the Preakness. He’s such a great trainer…so patient. He seems like the kind of guy who will wait for greatness to happen. No rushing the horse. I miss you on the track, sweet girl. Hope you’re loving our Bluegrass…there is lots of it and lots of rain to help it grow! Much love, sweets!
Rhonda Clements
Gorgeous photo of you, you are magnificent.
Watching racing right now, and as usual reading your post, Happy weekend, love you Zenny

@Ensign
I’ve been trying to figure out when Z might have been bred back to Bernie. Since we were told that she lost the baby at the end of March and IF they short cycled her back–she might have been bred back around the twelfth??? This would maybe make it around day 40 now??????? Does this sound about right to you????

Zen do you have a secret?

Dear Z,
They interviewed your Dear John on Versus TV today and he said there will be news soon about your foal status. When pressed for more info, he said “my wife will kill me”. TOO CUTE. Will be waiting for more news. Love you. Love to all of you, Judy and Russ

Interesting info AK had “beefed” up security
At Fair Hill as stated by Barry Irwin just now as he
Was interviewed on NBC before Preakness. He was
Concerned about AK being slipped something and being
Disqualified when tested.

Dear Beautiful Zenyatta, Allways a great thing to see any new photo’s of you looking magnificent and happy. Your not racing today and you can just sit back and smell the roses, you deserve it.
My hopes for Mr Commons doing well today and all of the horses coming in safe. Such gorgeous athletes the TB’s ..love love love them all!!

@ Margaret,
.
Not to start rumours, but I heard ‘around’ that she was supposedly bred around April 2nd (give or take). That would put her past the 45 day day mark and the embryo should be well attached to the uterus.
Looking on an ultrasound, this is what they’d be seeing at this point:

They’ll also be able to do fetal sexing soon : )
Regarding the date, this is what I heard, please do not consider it gospel. I hear lots of things in the run of a day ;-)

Loved the interview with Dottie and John – I think this is the most comfortable I’ve seen John look in front of the camera. All those interviews about YOU must have been good prep for him! LOL
Love you,Sweet Zen!
