Happy Friday to All,
As you know, Dottie and John are at Pimlico for the Preakness with Mr. Commons. I gather he is being one terrific guy. He trained nicely this morning and got a chance to see all of the surroundings. They have large tents up in the infield, and he looked at all of them. It was nice for him to get to see ALL OF IT and get used to this different type of infield environment. Later this afternoon, he will school and visit the paddock as well. So many things to learn, to do, and to accomplish! I remember it well!
In addition to all of the things going on with the Preakness, Dottie told ME that no matter where she and John went….. PEOPLE ASKED ABOUT ME! ME….now isn’t that TOO CUTE! I am so flattered! They wanted to know how I’m doing, how much I love my life now….and of course, the big question, how much have Bernie and I been dating.? Katherine and Carol asked John and Dottie for a photo op with them….which, of course, they did! Steve Haskins asked them to do a video clip…..and guess who he mentioned to Dottie? ME! They also met Ann Maree, who often writes responses in my Diary. All of this is so special and such fun.
The weather has been very pleasant so far and tomorrow, Preakness Day, is supposed to be beautiful! So, HOOVES CROSSED for a great RACE DAY!
WOW! People are asking about ME! This statement has such a nice RING TO IT! Thank you so much for BEING SO THOUGHTFUL and caring!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Good morning Zenny, I bet Mr. Commons could benefit from a pep talk from you this morning, before the big race! How about sending him some mental telepathy!
Hope you get to watch the race today and that you have great fun in your paddock.
I love you pretty girl! gosh you’re so pretty! hugs

Dorothy Hooper, what a wonderful tribute. Zenny, I hope your team reads her post to you. I know you would understand it from the view of your deep “horse sense”.
Dorothy spoke of the lessons learned from your last race. Though you lost by a nos thought that you won, I can imagine you were perplexed at why you weren’t in the winners circle! But there is another winners circle you’ve been in ever since, and it’s the one Dorothy speaks of ….
how “you taught us about courage, and desire and the will to fight in this race of life”. That’s a legacy you have given us. And I trust that on some level of consciousness, you know exactly what you have done for us and yourself!
Oh, what a joy to be a part of your family here.
Please send my best to Dottie and John and Mr. Commons today for the Preakness. I’ll be watching on TV!
Love you big. hugs
Shema
whops, here’s an edit correction for my last post
Though you lost by a nos thought that you won
I meant, though you lost by a nose and really thought that you won ….

Dear Zenyatta – NO ONE will ever forget you or your people. Oh my goodness, I get what Dottie said, She cant even see or write a “Z” with out getting chills or thinking about you. You are the greatest horse ever. Thank you Doreen for the link to the interview with Steve Haskins on Bloodhorse. I spent sometime searching for it. It would be so nice to have a triple crown winner, but great if Mr. Commons comes in 2nd!!!! Good luck Chantal and Makoma in Ca.
A great weekend for horseracing and fans .
My wish is a safe trip for all and may the best horse on this day at Pimlico win.
Looking at the video clips they are all magnificent looking. Z I hope you sent Mr. Commons some tips. I saw him come in 3rd in the Santa Anita Derby and he looked great. A late closer like you!

As always thinking of you Zenyatta with all my love in my heart. I hope you can feel all the love that is meant for you and your team. On this day of the Preakness I pray for safety as I am reminded of Great Barbaro.
Carol from CT
Dorothy Hopper, you beautifully put into words what Zenyatta means to so many of us. She always will have a place in our hearts. Watching her run, whether you were at the racetrack or elsewhere, was an unforgettable experience. And look at all the people whose lives she has touched and who she has brought together.
We love you, Z!

@DJ–thank you for the beautiful poem–exquisite!
Dani–thanks for the donation suggestions. I’m always upset when I can’t donate to one who asks. But I do what I can also.
God bless all the horses running today and bring them home safely.
Mr. Commons–show ’em you’re better than 50-1. Remember, so was Mine That Bird!

@Susan in TN – What joyful news. Happy Birthday, little (big) foal! Please kiss the dear little guy on his nose for me, and pet his peach fuzz mane (that & the wee, fluffy tail on the babies are just too precious for words.)
@Judy Berube – thank you so much for responding to my question on #252. I did know the X factor comes through the dam, from the sire. I had generational & probability questions – but – will have to do some research. Anyway – please know I appreciated that you responded.
@Dawn Conrad – Sending positive thoughts & prayers your way….
Happy Preakness Day, all!
Especially Horses
So far Graham Motion is two for two on Preakness Day. Maybe a peak at the “Kingdom” to come?
Loved what Steve Haskin’s had to say about Mr. Commons “…the “Best hair coat” award goes to Mr. Commons. If you want to see what the term “bursting with dapples” looks like, all you had to do was watch this colt grazing Friday morning. Nobody can get a horse to shine quite like John Shirreffs. Mr. Commons’ coat was resplendent and you couldn’t help but be impressed with his overall condition”.
Janet Cutting
I viewed the interview with D&J and they are just awesome people–very down to earth and warm people. Mr Commons is a great looking horse–good luck to all. I was reading the comments about how the horses sleep–since I too am a non-horse owner but animal lover– they will sleep lying down on their side–if feeling safe and comfortable–I thought they sleep standing up too, and is this so they can breath properly??? I am always learning…
Max
@Dottie. Without revealing her beauty secrets, could you tell us some of the details of how Zenyatta is groomed on a daily basis? She always looks so beautiful and it obvious that a lot of care goes into this. I have also noticed that her hooves look good.
Delrene
Dear Zenyatta Just got an E mail that Makoma was scratched from Race 5 at Hollywood Park.
I do hope she is ok. Let us know, please how she is doing.
Thank you and have a wonderful day.
Janet Cutting
@MAX –thats a good question–I also would like to know about Zennys daily diet- what would she probably eat everyday? I cant imagine what a 1200 lb horse can eat — and gotta have those snacks..

From DJ: “When I pass from this world, send my soul to no heaven without them.” (*See her entire poignant poem above).
Terry Crow
@DJ-I am not at all sure I would want to go to heaven, if I am worthy, if there are no horses or dogs there. @Brooke-Good to see your post. Racing could use more young fans such as yourself.
Jean M.
Beautiful Zenyatta, Happy Saturday, pretty girl. Just saw your wonderful John being interviewed prior to the Preakness and after they discussed Mr. Commons, guess whose name came up. YOU! John talked about your fabulous career, your Museum stall in California and some other glowing comments on you in general. What a joy to see him and I wish Mr. Commons a very successful and safe race. I miss you and love you. Safe trip to all today.
Kim S
Happy Preakness Day to you Zenny, with all that wonderful grass around you. Wishing a fun, safe trip to all contenders today.
@Dawn Conrad–missed the post about the tests you are having done. Hope all is well.
Hope all Z fans have a wonderful Preakness day. Good luck to Mr Commons. Have favorites but really root for them all. :)
Lotsa love to all.

Zenyatta, it’s good that Mr. Commons was getting his rest before his schooling, as demonstrated by the picture. You and him are obviously great friends. Always remain friends with him because he is a great, loyal friend.
Elizabeth G.
We ask about you because you are our special LOVE! We are happy if you are happy. Take care, beauty.
