Hello Everyone!
Well, they had the Preakness draw yesterday and my dear friend, MR. COMMONS, drew post #14. YIKES! He is way on the outside. He will really need to go over the charts and past performances of the other horses with JOHN to be sure he has a good strategy from that post.
I know the other camps will be doing the same. Animal Kingdom drew the 11 post which they felt was quite nice for him. The speed horses also drew well. It is amazing…but a good post can be a great advantage. It allows you to run your race and not have to compromise your style of running to get into the position you want.
Let’s hope for a fabulous race, great weather, and a terrific day of racing!
John commented that it was warmer in Maryland when he arrived this afternoon than Kentucky, where he was earlier in the day! They have also had some rain, but none is expected on Preakness Day! Hooves crossed!
I never raced at Pimlico, but GIACOMO did! He ran a very nice 3rd in the Preakness.
Oh, I see Charles over by the fence. I want to ask him about his selections for the Preakness. I think I’d better put on my thinking cap…study the charts…and ask the guys here at the farm what they think. It is so much fun!
We’ll keep you posted.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Thanks for the reminder. Queen E is getting to look her Mum. I now remember about 2002. The radio program from Audrey C really explained so much about her involvement in TB breeding/racing along with the Shieks. What do you think she is doing at Coolmore IRE? Do you know where her TB line is stabled?
Really liked your article on Z from this post.

Well, hello there and a good evening to you, Zenyatta
what another great picture of you, how smart you look, with your little blade of blue grass sticking out. Your big snootie is too fab, and your whiskers, how exquisite :) :) :)
Good luck Mr. Commons, Go Get’em :) :) :)
Have a restful night, no boomers, just sweet peaceful dreams
Jackie

Hi Zenny: Yes, I looked over the list of contenders and saw that Mr. Commons was on the outside. Well, he has got his work cut out for him. But, Mr. Commons look fantastic in the Santa Anita Derby. I heard today that this year’s Kentucky Derby field ran a very slow paced race. So hopefully Mr. Commons has an advantage there. It is getting very exciting. Take care Zenny!

So interesting that Ellen Parker mentioned
That Lasix is mainly harmless, which it is, but expressed concern
Over the use of steroids and mentioned some
Current Stallions who raced on them. They cause
Huge short term and long term issues.
Thanks Audrey C for her website. Very thought
Provoking discussion with lots of info. I remember
When Eight Bells broke down there was talk of
3 time inbreeding to Northern Dancer and his soft
Bones.

You are the most beautiful girl in the world! Hugz to you, sweet Z.

@Sharon Call and Lisa g: I was also very surprised, in fact shocked to see all the races that MMM has run and he is not even 3 years old yet. I can’t believe that the trainer (who appears to be a very caring person) would be that aggressive with such a young horse. I was really taken back when I read MMM’s history/credits.

Rags To Riches is at Coolmore Stud and has a one-month-old foal(colt)…well, who knows?! I love that Queen Elizabeth loves horses so much. I really hope she gets to meet Queen Z!
RE: early training: I always worry when I watch two-year-olds racing. I wonder when they start getting ridden? Anyone know? They are such babies! And then when you hear a commentator say,”This will be his first time to turn left in a race”-aaw!
@ AMY K: thank you!

Zenyatta, you just get more beautiful on a daily basis. I dont know who will win the preakness but I do wish every horse in the race good luck and a safe race. I love all the horses in the race. I miss you being out in the racing field and fireing up my antenas. I must be honest to say that without you in the light of horseracing it is just not the same. I am trying to recover. I think of you always and in my thoughts I just see you and Mike out there racing like the wind and winning like no other. Now that racing time is in full swing the thoughts are even more clear. I love you Zenyatta.

@Dawn, Will be praying for you!! The other night after a very long day, I mixed you and your dear friend Shari V up when we ran into each other on Uncle Mo’s facebook page. She must have though I was crazy for congratulating her on her bronze. Sorry Shari. God Bless and let us know how you are doing.
@Kennedys in San Diego, there will be at least two Preakness parties in San Diego..but must say, mine will be much more humble…No Bronze Z on the table…but will be cheering on Mr Commons and Dialed In. Have Fun! My family call this my World Series, Super Bowl and World Cup all in less then 2 months (includes prep races and hours on HRTV and TVG getting the latest update)
Zenny…you look wonderful big girl. Love you :)

Good evening Queen Zenny!
I’m wondering how many people know that the Queen of England stays at Lane’s End when she’s in town… IMO she needs to make a special trip to visit you ~ OUR QUEEN!! :-) She will be left breatheless, like the rest of us!!!
XOXOXOXO
Cheryl
I THINK you know exactly who is going to win and you are just holding your cards close in those pretty hooves of yours! Such a pretty girl! Soon you will have some really nice sunny weather when these storm systems start to taper off. I hope you are staying warm and dry! Best wishes to Team Z – thank you so much for the diary! LOVE YOU

Zenyatta, with your inspiration I believe almost anything is possible. Yes, it might take some mighty hard work, but why not have 3 weeks between all of the Triple Crown races…why not shorten the Belmont race…and why not make the Triple Crown Races for 4 year olds? Bucking tradition is difficult, but not impossible. You beautiful horses are worth it. These changes won’t fix all of the problems, but you’ve got to start some place. Love Ya, Zeny. Sending sweet dreams of peppermints your way.

@AudreyC: Loved that interview. The woman makes sense. I checked out Zenyatta’s and Bernardini’s Pedigree’s again with this new knowledge, and the two beauty’s have no inbreeding at all (Dottie knows it all). Of course the reference to Native Dancer (whom I love) is way back in Zenyatta’s but she has nothing else, such as Northern Dancer. Good match pedigree as well. I really like this woman, she is no nonsense, and I love the references to Zenyatta to, it was TOO EXCITING. Thank you again, for the link and more info on her. I love learning about horses.

@Linda in TN: If you’ve time listen to the radio interview that AudreyC recommends, it is great. I pray always for the horses to be safe for each race, but in this case especially for MMM tomorrow. I think that he will be 3 before the Belmont. He is a big horse, and the radio show talks about that as well. This shows makes me think that The Triple Crown Races should be for 4 year olds.
