Hello Everyone!
Well, they had the Preakness draw yesterday and my dear friend, MR. COMMONS, drew post #14. YIKES! He is way on the outside. He will really need to go over the charts and past performances of the other horses with JOHN to be sure he has a good strategy from that post.
I know the other camps will be doing the same. Animal Kingdom drew the 11 post which they felt was quite nice for him. The speed horses also drew well. It is amazing…but a good post can be a great advantage. It allows you to run your race and not have to compromise your style of running to get into the position you want.
Let’s hope for a fabulous race, great weather, and a terrific day of racing!
John commented that it was warmer in Maryland when he arrived this afternoon than Kentucky, where he was earlier in the day! They have also had some rain, but none is expected on Preakness Day! Hooves crossed!
I never raced at Pimlico, but GIACOMO did! He ran a very nice 3rd in the Preakness.
Oh, I see Charles over by the fence. I want to ask him about his selections for the Preakness. I think I’d better put on my thinking cap…study the charts…and ask the guys here at the farm what they think. It is so much fun!
We’ll keep you posted.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Yes Zenyatta how about some long shot picks from your perspective. You of course never had a post you couldn’t overcome.

At the time Eight Belles was running in the Derby Ellen Parker said that she was afraid that she would break down based on her 3 crosses to Raise A Native who she claimed had weak ankles. RAN retired after 4 starts because of a bowed tendon not weak ankles. Eight Belles sire Unbridled’s Song retired because of a leg fracture. He has sons at stud who also had fractures. His son Even The Score who stayed sound sired a G1 winner but none of his sons has proven to be above average as a sire based on percentage of stakes winners. Unbridled’s Song was still 50% owned by Ernie Paragallo when he was convicted of cruelty to horses and probably still is. Larry Bramlage DVM in 2004 said they had discovered a genetic marker for fragile bone but the powers that be do not seem interested in eliminating it. While not every horse is ready to run at two many horses who have raced at 2 have stayed sound for years and years. G2G1 placed Say Florida Sandy had 8 starts at 2,raced through the age of 9 and won a stakes race at 9. He had 98 starts and won over $2 million. He is at stud in NY.

GOOD LUCK, ANIMAL KINGDOM AND MR. COMMONS, I hope they both do VERY WELL!

Zenyatta, good luck to your buddies running in the Preakness. I would have to agree that it’s not the same without you racing any more. However, it is wise of you to converse with your buddies, human and horse, about how every horse will do in the Preakness.
