I’M HERE!
Wow! I had such a TERRIFIC day yesterday. I had a wonderful time saying GOOD-BYE to all of my friends at Barn 55. John asked that we keep my morning nice and private so I could personally spend the time with all of my friends. It was GREAT and SO SPECIAL!
Then at about 8 in the morning, I left my barn, loaded the van and we were off to Ontario Airport. There I boarded the Tex Sutton Plane for Kentucky. John, Mario and Steve all went with me on the plane. The plane ride went smoothly and before we knew it, the plane was landing in Lexington. Fortunately, they prepared me for the cold weather…with all kinds of wonderful blankets. It was 16 degrees when we arrived.
WHAT A GREAT RECEPTION THEY HAD PLANNED FOR ME! The van took me to Keeneland and I had my ‘hair and make-up’ done. Then I was ready to GREET ALL OF MY NEW KENTUCKY FRIENDS. The back-ring area at Keeneland was packed. There were people everywhere with cameras flashing waiting to see me! I walked around the back-ring with Mario first. The Moss’ and Mike Smith walked behind me. Then they presented me with a gift basket and Ann and Jerry thanked everyone for their kindness.
At this time, John took me for another walk around the ring with Dottie. John let me stop and look around at all of the people. I posed and looked at them all. Cameras were everywhere. We had a wonderful, wonderful time. I danced, pranced and tried to greet everyone. What an occasion!
Then off to Lane’s End Farm…MY NEW HOME! We got there and the barn was all lit up. I immediately went into my new stall. My nametag was on it…as was a sign a fan made for my stall door…THE QUEEN REIGNS HERE! It was pink and the letters are in green. I gather fans have been sending me lots of gifts already. There was a Christmas stocking, carrots, peppermints and many other notes and signs waiting for me. This all makes me feel so special. My new home is beautiful. I have about 8 other friends in this barn with me. I’m sure we will become very, very close as time goes on and we get to play outside together. I can’t wait!
Dottie and John told my new home would be WONDERFUL! And it is!
Oops…lights are going out…time to rest! WHAT A DAY!
Thanks to all of you for making it all possible!
With love,
Hugs~

Awwww, Zenyatta, it is so good to read your post again. You looked beautiful as you posed for the fans at Keeneland. Your hair and makeup were flawless. So glad you like your acommodations there. Have fun playing with your new horse friends and relaxing. It won’t be long before you have all the humans at Lane’s End bowing to Your Highness, but I know you will not let it go to your head. I hope to get to visit now that you are much closer to where I live in Maryland.

I hope the young kid walking with her on the video is not going to be her regular groom since he looks so uncomfortable around her and that bothers me since she’s been so used to the love from Mario and Carmen and I’m sure she’s wondering where they are now. Maybe they can bring in an audio tape from Barn 55 with familiar voices on it?

I am a bit upset about the people that are saying they are Worried about Zenyatta. I think that she will be the most pampered lady in the world. Sure she has to adjust to her new world, but I am guessing that they will do Everything to make that adjustment work for her.

Secretariat was loved and well cared for and that was never doubted. I hope for more videos. She seems so lonely and am sure she is wondering what the heck. Just wish John or Dottie would go again for a visit SOON. Of course a period of adjustment is normal but she really has been left “with too much to do” this time. Hope to see more that proves otherwise.

Hi,Zen, Were you impressed at how much we all missed you? Two days without you and we were all crazy to know if things were going along ok. So glad to see you back in action. By the way, the folks at Lane’s End were quick to calm all of our collective nerves, and everybody sure appreciated that! You are special. Hugs. Your friend, Ann Maree

Hi Zenny, good to know that you are safe and sound. I think you are missing all the fans, cameras, etc. but give it time and you will adjust! I am hoping they let your fans come and see you and you can pose for us!
I understand that you have quite the admirer down the road named Little Silver Charm. Man does he have a crush on you! He’s only a pony but with big horse dreams on his mind. LOL
I know Lanes End and staff will look after you well however, their is much saddnes back in CA with all your connections! I bet the barn feels empty even though it is not. We all love you so very much!
Sweet dreams!

Hi Zenny. I will always pray for your health and happiness. Remember only a few babies not hundreds. You deserve a better retirement life than just be a “breeding machine”. That’s not the the way to treat a Queen and a Champion.
Mary
Hello Zenyatta, I was hoping to hear from you soon, I look for you everyday. today I get to read two of your journal posts. I guess I am having a hard time with your move and your new career but its selfish on my part…I wanted to watch you race for-ever. But as a mom I know you will enjoy being a mommy. But for me the California race tracks will never be the same without you…I will wait for your babies to hit the track. I love you Zenyatta…you have brought so much to my heart…Thank you. I write you every day:) so keep writting my friend.

Hi Z!! So glad to read this post. I did drive from Wi. to see you at Keeneland. What a joy it was to see you again; you danced right in front of me. I think you will love it at Lane’s End. After we saw you at the Breeders Cup, the next day we visited Lane’s End for their Open House. It is just beautiful! A.P Indy is there too. I hope you got my St. Nick bag of goodies and my Christmas card. Love you so much and I will visit with you soon I hope.
Crazy for Z
