Hello Everyone!
I had a great weekend. I thought the Peter Pan Race was very exciting…love those photo finishes. Alternation won that stake in a very tight finish. Then at Hollywood Park, the Lazaro Barrera Stake was also a close, close finish! Congratulations to Bench Points who won that race. Those NOSE FINISHES can be very exciting. I know a bit about that from my racing days!
Bernardini also had a fun weekend. He sired some very nice winners around the country and then Theyskens’ Theory won a listed stakes race in Europe. YIPPEE!
On another note, a few weeks ago, a lovely family came to visit ME! The young daugher wrote a very endearing letter to Lane’s End requesting the visit for her Father. He has been quite ill and the daughter felt this would be a very special and meaningful visit for their entire family.
Lane’s End honored this special request. The family came to visit and then they sent some photos of ME back to the farm. I thought you would enjoy them. I’d been outside playing right before they came to visit ME! Oh, I do have so much fun outside…and YES, I do love to roll in the grass!
A special time was had by ALL on this day! Best wishes to this lovely family and ALL BLESSINGS to them in every single area of their lives.
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

Zenny…once again your magical powers help someone who is ill. You are manna for the soul like others have said. You look so beautiful in these pictures…there is just not another horse who has that special aura. You truly stand alone. I appreciate knowing the people at LE are honoring special requests…they realize how important you are to your fans. Again…a huge thanks to Dottie for providing us more pictures an another diary entry.

I’ve just finished reading “Affirmed, the last Triple Crown Winner”, so I know who Lazaro Barrera was. He was a wonderful trainer who, in fact, trained Affirmed. You’re lookin’ great Lady Z!

Dear Z,
You look great. How nice that you were able to grant someone’s wish. We like to follow Bernie’s kids and see how they are doing. We also like to keep track of your Dad’s (Street Cry) and your Mom’s (Vertigineux) other children. Some of them are doing really well in Europe. Dottie, thank you for keeping this diary and for the beautiful photos of Z. Love you Z and love to all of you. Judy and Russ.

Dear Zenny – you are too generous and caring for words! On another note, can you tell us about your neighbor at Barn 55, Violet Rose? Would love to hear about her as I am sure the 2 of you had girl-talk back in the day :)
Love and Hugs to you and Team Z!

Z, it’s so good to see new pictures of you. You look just wonderful and very happy. I know you helped the gentleman that is ill – you always do.
@Susan in Tn. I’m so glad you’re getting into the rescue work. It’s very rewarding to see how these animals respond to kindness. I owned a mare that had been abused by a trainer and it took me 3 months before I could go in her stall without her turning her backside to me and offering to kick. I just took a chair and sat outside her stall reading until she got the idea that I wasn’t going to hurt her. Sometimes I would stand at the stall door and just talk to her in a low, slow quiet voice. I could see her ears turning back to listen. Eventually, Chloe would come to the stall door to greet me. What a great feeling that was! You have this to look forward to and I promise it’s worth every minute of it.

So beautiful, girl!

How wonderful for Lane’s End to extend such a treat to that girl and her father! I hope their visit with you was just what he needed. You have such an amazing power and presence, Z, and I am sure they will never forget their time with you.
Glad to hear you are healthy and happy.
As always, love and miss you!

Hi Zennie!
I just saw that your sister, Eblouissante, is now at John Shirreffs’ barn & in light training. How exciting! I hope you are giving her some tips, so she can follow in your hoofsteps! On her facebook page she is listed at 16.3 hands which is huge. I hope to see a training video of her sometime (hint, hint).
I am so happy Lane’s End allowed the visit! I am sure the daughter & father are still smiling-memories that will last forever.

Very nice of Lanes End to accomidate that woman and her dad. I am sure that seeing you might not have cured him of whatever it was that ailed him, but I am sure it put a smile on his face. Thank you team Zenyatta for being so kind.

Zenny, you have a beautiful face and an even more beautiful soul. I just feel that you are what is called a “healing horse”. You know what I mean because you have that gift and know how to use it. How wonderful of Lanes End and Team Z to grant the wish of this family who visited. I hope your beautiful presence worked its magic for the family.

Dear Zenny…although you left quite an impression on the track we think your greatest legacy will be fulfilled in your new life at LE. How wonderful that you were able to spend precious time with a family who needed you to help an ailing father. There is no doubt that you have a spiritual connection with people. Perhaps that is your greatest gift. We smiled from ear to ear looking at these pictures. Thanks to LE and Dottie for making sure we knew about this visit. You remain the Queen of our hearts…now and forever.

Zenny, you are SO beautiful it is unbelievable!!!Thank you,and Dottie, for sharing the precious pictures in the last two posts!! It will be a joy to keep going back to look at them. I liked the idea of one poster on #248 about making that one available to buy with money going to something like Old Friends,or Our Mims–or maybe a portion of the cost–whatever.
@Karen Mitchell–Loved your story of how The Queen looks right into your soul. It really DOES look as if she is doing that, even in her pictures!
I think that the people who say you are an angel come to earth must be right!!
We had SNOW again here today!!! The ski hill has been closed for weeks—we don’t need any more snow–it is SO cold!! The poor daffodils are shivering!! Hope you are still having great weather with the sun on your back and a soft breeze to ruffle your mane.LOVE YOU!!!
@Dawn Conrad-LOVED the description of your cozy den!! I,too,am a book lover–have 8 bookcases, jammed full,in my studio condo!! I always tease that it is a good thing it is on the ground floor, for,if not,it would have crashed to the ground anyway, due to the weight of all my possessions!!!Now,if I could just fit a horse in there!!!

Wow z you’re amazing I love u

Hi Zenny Moss-Coleman! LOL! Much gratitude to the Mosses for sharing you with us all. I guess your real name should be Zenyatta Moss-Shirreffs-Coleman! You are such a beautiful mare! What do you think about your little sister, Eblouissant being at Backside 55? We know she is in the best of hands with your John! I sure hope the family who came to visit you while you were out playing had a good time. The child is to be commended! I pray the father will be able to forget his troubles after spending time with you. I always feel better after burying my face in the necks of my horses! Love you Zenny!

Zenny, How wonderful that your team allows others to meet you, to bring a little more happiness into their lives. We are all blessed to have followed your career, and even more blessed that Dottie allows us to follow your life as a very young ‘retiree’.

@LauraJ, you have made my day!!!! Thank you so much for the news about Old Friends. I have been very worried about them and this article has made me feel so much better. Thank you so much. I am going to continue to donate every paycheck. The article noted that Ann and Jerry Moss were very helpful in this situation. Again, they continue to be the best of people. Eblouissante, Zenny’s half sister is at John Shirreff’s barn. He says she looks very much like her beautiful older sister! Can’t wait to see how she does.
Linda from Vermont
That was so nice of Lane’s End to grant that families wish!
LouAnn Cingel of Union, Missouri

I will always want to see you and be with you and I will travel, if I get the word we can. What you have done for causes–WOW!!

Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos with us and telling the story of Lane’s End allowing the family to visit – beautiful! This site is always uplifting for me to be able to see your beauty and enjoy the words you and Dottie have composed. Today I read the article online telling that Ebloussainte has moved to Barn 55 now to begin her serious training. I wish her much success and hope that she has as much heart as you, her big sister. Thank you again for this wonderful site.
