Happy Saturday Everyone!
I hope all of you are getting ready to have a wonderful weekend! I have been out grazing and ENJOYING LIFE THE ZENYATTA WAY! As I have mentioned to you before, the grass is amazing here. I’m really getting an opportunity to enjoy and experience the famous KENTUCKY BLUE GRASS! Also, look at the absolutely GORGEOUS CLOUDS! This environment is very special! I feel so fortunate!
Dottie LOVES this photo of ME…and she really wanted to share it with ALL of YOU! She thinks it almost looks like a painting of ME…rather than a photo! My coat is so healthy and I still have all of my dapples! She commented to ME that I look FABULOUS! Blush, Blush!
Also, thank you for all of your kind comments for Dawn Conrad. It truly is a GREAT PHOTO OF HER! You are right…she does look very HAPPY!
Everything else is going well! It is only one week to the Preakness so there is a buzz about that race everywhere. The Peter Pan runs today which is a warm-up for the Belmont. It is nice to see that the New York Racing Association brought this race back this year. Last year it was put ‘on hold’ due to budget cuts, so it is great to see this stake back on the schedule again. It should be a very exciting race!
I also want to mention another terrific thing that happened yesterday. My dear Family Friend, ALPHA MAMA, had an A.P. Indy colt last evening. Since A.P. INDY recently retired, this colt may be one of the last foals born to be sired by this amazing stallion. This baby is a big boy! He weighed in at 142 pounds and all is A-OK with both MOM and foal. This is TOO CUTE!
I’m just thinking ahead. 142 pounds…WOW! I know she is a very good-sized mare, but I would imagine that Alpha Mama is really glad that this foal is here and romping about now. This is all ‘food for thought’ for my future! I am really trying to keep up on all of these details and pieces of information as I continue to prepare for my next role…that of becoming a MOM!
Enjoy your day, today’s races, and your weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~Especially ALPHA MAMA and her new A.P. INDY Colt

Dearest Sweet “Z”,
Goodnight and I hope you are cuddled in your warm blanket. The weather here has been anything but consistent today. First dewy and cold and then sunny and warm! Well, aren’t we fortunate to be blessed with a little bit of everything! My son and husband went fishing and caught two Bass, so I guess the fish were hungry..I know the two of them were hungry and cold :) TIZ GIANNI and your Mikey – congratulations on a valiant effort in a tough race. You’ll get em next time!

dear zenyatta,
your photo makes me smile–you make the world a happier place, thanks for sharing team Z and thanks to everyone who posts comments, as it is so much fun to read them all–what a special community!

Dear Zenyatta,
That photo of you rally looks like a painting. Is shows how photogenic you really are. Isn’t it getting late in the breeding season for you to be bred? If you are mated now, the foal won’t arrive until next April. I know you were a late foal and didn’t race until you were four. So maybe your baby will be alot like you.
Stay happy and healthy.

Good Saturday evening Zenyatta,
I agree with your Dottie, the photo does look like a picture of you. You’re getting pretty chubby Missy, but I suspect it is all good for your future role. Gets those female hormones stirring up some more :) :) :)
So you’re sort of an auntie now, with all these little foals poppin’ up or should I say, out :) :) :)
A. P. Indy I’ve read about him in last year’s Churchill Downs reports. So he’s been set out to pasture now, huh?
Well, it’s time for 40 winks & dreams of mints, dear girl :) :) :)

@ Catherine Uher
glad you’re still here, did you get a new kidney? Hopefully!

Dear Zenny
I hope all owner who have one of AP Indy’s
Last crop will cherish them and not sell them.
There is a lovely photographic tribute Barbara
Livingston did after he was pensioned. What a
Fine fine racehorse and stallion. I hope he has adjusted
To not visiting the girls. I am sure all of LE is spoiling
Him as he so deserves.
Sweet Dreams Zenny!!!!

@Max-Thanks for the link to the article about Black Caviar.
@Trina Nagele-Thanks for the link to the story about Kincsem. What a remarkable horse she was! I love the story about her and her cat and Frankie.
My sweet, sweet Zenny. Thank you for sharing that gorgeous picture with us. It really does look like a portrait. You are so beautiful. And thanks for telling us about Alpha Mamma and A.P. Indy, too. It’s sad that their colt will be one of his last babies. What an amazing sire he was! Keep enjoying that Kentucky bluegrass, Zenny! Loving you in Lexington :-)

Gorgeous photo of you and I agree is looks like a beautiful painting. But you are so lovely it’s hard to imagine a bad image of you photo or painting. Congrats to Alpha Mom and baby – this will be you by next year sweet girl!
Timmi

I adore Dottie’s little inuendos about Z being healthy and preparing for motherhood. It certainly “keeps us tuned in” to the next episode…I’m sure Dottie has to feel a bit powerful when we grasp for any tidbit of updated news on our big girl. I just sit back and wait. We will know soon what was decided I feel. Either way, it does cause dozens of posts does it not? Which keeps us all so hooked and no one is complaining. I have spent some time tonight viewing again some of “Zen’s YouTube races and other videos. Everything else really pales in comparison. To see her mane flying head held high with absolutely no fear, knowing she could surpass any other horse. To feel such confidence and still balance this with such a playfull and gentle nature is truely special. I live near Lexington and learned to my disappointment I may not be allowed to see any of the mares at Lanes End due to policy. I have been following Black Caviar and taping her races. She is so regal and superb to look at in addition to g her racing skills. I am so pleased with the media giving fillies their much deserved attention.

Wow! Gorgeous photo! It really does look like a painting – thanks so much, Dottie! Great job of photography, Sarah!
Zen, you look so happy — loving the grazing and about to dance to the “bluegrass” song! Love you!
@Susan in TN: Thanks for the memory jog! I, too, had a molded plastic stickhorse – he was cream-colored with brown mane and highlights. His name was Champion. My two material-stuffed (covered with vinyl)stickhorses were named Trigger and Silver!
I loved them all! Also had a “stable” of tool handles (rake, hoe, shovel)which gave me quite a few horses, too! Guess I am giving away my age since this was when you actually replaced the handles on your implements when they broke/came off! Good luck to you with the volunteer horse rescue. What a wonderful thing to do!!
I adore this website!

@Jack W ~ I’d say congratulations are in order, but realize that Zen and Team need their privacy. Whatever, Zenyatta is the epitome of thoroughbreds.
Trina Nagele
@Shanda Hooton–I’m sorry to hear you had a terrible day, for whatever reason, but I’m hoping it didn’t have to do with your adopted horse. I hope all is still well on that score.
Irene Caty
Hi Zenny, you do look good in this picture and I’m sure you like the grazing but you also look lonely. We all see what we see. I dont know if you are in foal or if that is coming up soon or not. I guess I have to still keep wondering. You just stay as happy as can be and you can always know that yoy are loved very much.
Joan Dobbie
Yes, gorgeous photo! Keep smiling Zen… we love you so… I recently read that two little autistic boys once came to visit you at barn 55. They got to ride a horse there… and it was all so good that their parents adopted a retired race horse to be their friend… All this just because of you!
Sharon Tupper
Thank you for the update. You will be a great MOM to the filly or colt that is born. Love the picture of you enjoying the bluegrass in Kentucky. You look great. Keep the updates coming! I enjoy reading them!
Sandra Ryan
Hi Girlfriend….that sure would make a lovley print for all your adoring fans to have in their homes! Looks like retirement is being good to you. You are still “Horse of my Heart”!
Holly Zemba
You look beautiful. When I was a kid I used to think that Kentucky Blue Grass was actually Blue.
Anita in Ca
I love the picture. It really does look like a painting. Thanks Zen & Dottie. So kind of you to share it. I’ glad you are taking notes, Zenny. I am sure you will be a most wonderful Mom. I was privileged to meet a new filly who was born this past week at the Barn where I take lessons. It was a first and dream come true for me to sit in the stall with Mama and Baby and be able to pet her. I have never seen a more precious miracle. Thanks for the opportunity to share that with you, my Beautiful Miracle Girl. How wonderful it will be to some day see your foal in the world. I love you.
Sharon in Ohio
Z, they say a picture is worth a thousand words….YOU look fantastic in this beautiful picture….does look like a painting. So, happy to see you out in the warm spring sunshine …enjoying that beautiful Kentucky Bluegrass.

To Susan in Tn. and Eveline:
Thank you for the “Naughty Pony” video. That is one determined little kid. Was laughing out loud.
To: Max:
Thank you for the great link on Black Caviar.
Hugs, Judy B.

@Margaret – I liked what you wrote about foaling, Thanks.

Hello Z! The photo of you loving life is so great. I work in a tiny windowless office and have been thinking about making
a fake window. This photo behind a window frame would look like Im looking out into the beautiful Lanes End farm and hanging out with you.
Enjoy the blue grass and the peace that surronds you there.
Margaret
@Cindy
My comments about pregnancy etc come from vet books that I have purchased BECAUSE of Zenyatta and this site. To tell me that it is inappropriate of me to pass on things that I’ve read and learned–wow. I pass on things in general–not about a said horse. Besides Dottie has said herself that as time goes along they’ll be more discussion about pregnancy and stuff.
And yes, I do have some suspicions about how they found out Z lost her foal. BUT YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN ME MAKE A POST ABOUT IT–NOR WILL YOU. I will refer others to the books that I have bought and downloaded and allow them to read that. To digest it and take what they will from it.
You’re as bad as notafanofensign. I wonder if you two are one and the same person.

Good morning, Zenny! Love you to pieces.
Linda from Vermont
That is a beautiful picture of you! Thank you for sharing it with us. Love you Z!
sue
Yes-what a beautiful picture. But dear Zenyatta – you are always beautiful! And yes the Zenyatta way is teaching us so much. As the Preakness time is arriving let us remember the Great Barbaro who gave us his life for racing and for the welfare of the horses. Love you Zenyatta and the team!
Maryyette
Sue, thanks for your remembrance of Barbaro. What a brave and courageous horse he was.
