Happy Saturday Everyone!
I hope all of you are getting ready to have a wonderful weekend! I have been out grazing and ENJOYING LIFE THE ZENYATTA WAY! As I have mentioned to you before, the grass is amazing here. I’m really getting an opportunity to enjoy and experience the famous KENTUCKY BLUE GRASS! Also, look at the absolutely GORGEOUS CLOUDS! This environment is very special! I feel so fortunate!
Dottie LOVES this photo of ME…and she really wanted to share it with ALL of YOU! She thinks it almost looks like a painting of ME…rather than a photo! My coat is so healthy and I still have all of my dapples! She commented to ME that I look FABULOUS! Blush, Blush!
Also, thank you for all of your kind comments for Dawn Conrad. It truly is a GREAT PHOTO OF HER! You are right…she does look very HAPPY!
Everything else is going well! It is only one week to the Preakness so there is a buzz about that race everywhere. The Peter Pan runs today which is a warm-up for the Belmont. It is nice to see that the New York Racing Association brought this race back this year. Last year it was put ‘on hold’ due to budget cuts, so it is great to see this stake back on the schedule again. It should be a very exciting race!
I also want to mention another terrific thing that happened yesterday. My dear Family Friend, ALPHA MAMA, had an A.P. Indy colt last evening. Since A.P. INDY recently retired, this colt may be one of the last foals born to be sired by this amazing stallion. This baby is a big boy! He weighed in at 142 pounds and all is A-OK with both MOM and foal. This is TOO CUTE!
I’m just thinking ahead. 142 pounds…WOW! I know she is a very good-sized mare, but I would imagine that Alpha Mama is really glad that this foal is here and romping about now. This is all ‘food for thought’ for my future! I am really trying to keep up on all of these details and pieces of information as I continue to prepare for my next role…that of becoming a MOM!
Enjoy your day, today’s races, and your weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~Especially ALPHA MAMA and her new A.P. INDY Colt

Thought you gals (and guys!) might be interested in the following from DRF this morning.
Eblouissante arrived last Wednesday and began light training on Thursday.
“Everybody’s excited,” Shirreffs said last week.
Zenyatta did not start until November of her 3-year-old season. Considering Eblouissante just arrived, she may not run until 3, either.
“We’ll let her be one of the pack for now,” Shirreffs said. “We’ll let her be her.”
There are similarities between the two, most noticeably size. Eblouissante looks more like a 3-year-old than a 2-year-old.
“She’s got the same neck, deep in the shoulder,” Shirreffs said. “She looks a lot like her sister.”
Shari Voltz
Zenny just wanted you to know that Corey told me he would text you if you had a phone and Erin said she is using one of your pictures as her profile picture on Facebook. You are talked about everyday by one of my students. XXXOOO
I am excited for Eblouissante. Believe it or not one of the children knew about your sister from reading the posts. How cute is that?

@ENSIGN-Well said. I have never seen a horse quite like Zenyatta and I probably never will again. The point being, I have seen her several times along with other greats of the sport and I feel like, because of my age and experience, I opinions to share which others may enjoy. I always read every post before I decide to contribute. I may have to rethink what I have been doing.

I cant wait till you become a mommy, Zenyatta. I am a big fan of you and I hope you are enjoying the new life you have.

To Ensign:
I look forward to links and updates by Z Fans on other horses. It makes it fun to compare thoughts and stories while we wait for news on our Beloved Zenyatta. Also, look forward to your informative posts, Ensign. Hugs, Judy B.

@Quarterhossgal — Thanks for sharing your experience with weaning. While in Lexington last November, we saw a number of paddocks with geldings and weanlings –always good to have an adult’s supervision and to serve as a role model.

Good Monday morning, Ms. Zenyatta,
hope this morning finds you going your usual route, sniffing the fresh May air in your beautiful paddock, stopping for a chat catching up on all the barn gossip with your pals, pullin’ a few blades of grass here and there, finishing up with some special hay maybe, and a huge chuggalug of your finest Kentucky spring water, yummy what a wondeful life you all lead. Have a great day :) :) :)

Good Monday Morning Zenny, Tell Alpha M congrats on her BIG BOY. . . .Whew!! Glad they are both doing well. This picture (painting) of you is amazing. The colors are so vibrant and crystal clear right down to your dapples! . . . . . .and now to go where I told myself I wouldn’t. Cindy, With the greatest respect I ask you to give the keyboard a rest. PEACE & LOVE TO ALL

Ann and Jerry Moss were recognized in Michael Blowen’s (Old Friends) latest newsletter regarding the most current update on the financial situation facing Old Friends. Happily through the generosity of so many, things are beginning to look brighter for the future of this venerable home for beloved retirees from racing. Many thanks should be paid to those (and I’m sure there are many from here who heeded the call to save Old Friends) as everything from $1.00 up to thousands pledged and valuable collectables for auctions were received. I hope everyone will keep in mind that there are other much smaller deserving and much needy horse rescue and retirement and adoption organizations out there that depend on our compassion to save and rehabilitate, make happy homes for and care for through out the rest of their lives, these beautiful creatures that bring us such joy. Just gazing upon a photo can can do that as seen by looking at this photo of Zenyatta. No amount is too little for these organzations which struggle – every dollar counts.Did you know it can cost as little as $5.00 for a bale of hay? There are many organizations out there in need. I can give you a few or you can check with your local ASPCA or on Facebook. Many of us are on budgets and don’t have as much to give as we would like to, but anyting we give can be life saving, can fill the tummies of the betrayed and starving horse, can bring back the happy romp and rolling around in the grass joy that so many once knew but now are subjected to live in desparation for their lives. You can make a difference in those lives. I ask you to follow the example of Mr. and Mrs. Moss and find a needy rescue organization that you can help in bringing back that joy in at least one horses’s life. Thank you.

Hi Zenny ~ Happy Monday morning, Sweetie!!!
————-
@Paula Higgins! You and are have known each other from other blogs… I agree with what you have written. There is ONLY one Zenyatta! The fact some people are mentioning other horses greatness does not diminish Zenny by any means!!!
—————
I think people need to lighten up!! Geez! Zenny is a compassionate and loving spirit ~ do you think she would be “jealous” that other horses (mares) are mentioned here ~ NO! BLACK CAVIAR & GOLDAKOVA have different running styles and distances. They are great in their own right ~ nothing wrong with that! Zenyatta is not threatened by comments here! I can’t speak for Team Z, but I’m sure they don’t mind either… please people ~ lighten up!

@Susan in TN. I’ve got a mental picture of that sweet gelding backing up while a baby pulls on his tail. LOL. Just loved that.
@Ensign and other folks that have voiced the same opinion. Thanks. The voice of reason speaks again. So glad you’re back. I just honestly don’t understand why people get so strung out about such trivial things. It’s fun and informative to follow other horses while we await news of Z. I don’t see that it takes anything at all away from Z or Team Z to read about what other horses are doing. For people like me, who are not active in the horse racing world, it’s given me a whole new perspective of it. I enjoyed the Derby this year more than I ever have because of this web site and the information it led me to. This year, I knew who the horses were ahead of time, who the jockey was, who the trainer and owners were and it made it much more interesting and fun. I think certain people that post here just need to relax and stop trying to be so controlling. If Dottie, John, Jerry or Anne had a problem with any of this, I’m sure they would let us know.
People, just relax, kick back and enjoy the community here. It really is quite nice when people aren’t “hatin'” on each other.

My Beautiful Zenyatta~ What an absolutely gorgeous photo~ brought tears to my eyes, as you always do.
For Mother’s Day, this last week I recieved the most wonderful gift from my Mom….A “Zenyatta” Breyer. Let me remind you that I am not a “girl” but a 51 year old Grandmother of 3, with another on the way. I cried pure tears
of joy. You just move me that way.
@Margaret~ Thanks for all the interesting information on foaling.
@audreyc~ Absolutely love the 7 stages of riding. How true they are.
@Trina Naegle~ Beutifull said. :)
Zenyatta~ I love you with all my heart!

Happy Monday Zenny!!!! Your picture takes my breath away!!!! Dottie’s right – it DOES look like a painting!!!! Thanks Sarah for capturing this beautiful moment on camera and for Dottie’s thoughtfulness in sharing it with us. Zenny, could you please whisper to Dottie and see if she would be able to post a picture of Alpha Mama and her new colt? That would be lovely to see. Take care sweet girl and enjoy that Kentucky bluegrass!!!! Always thinking and praying for you and your family. Love you Z

Pregnant females always look more beautiful, don’t they? Zenyatta is especially beautiful in this photo. In fact, I think she’s glowing! ;)

Wow. I just read some of these comments and I’m completely speechless. I simply asked Max to post a link to articles about Black Caviar because he said he had more stories about her and I didn’t really know a lot about her. I thought it was an innocent comment, but apparently I was mistaken! There were other people talking about her and Zenyatta talks about other horses a lot in her diary, so I really don’t understand what the big deal is. Zenyatta is and always will be the undisputed Queen. No one will ever come close. I worship that horse, and for anyone to think I want to make this a Black Caviar website is insane. One thing I’ve always loved about this website is that the people are always so kind and thoughtful, but I have noticed some nasty comments this past week. I never dreamed they would be directed at me over what I thought was an innocent remark.
ENSIGN
Don’t feel bad Debbie, it was an innocent request and you’re just the latest in a long line of people to be ‘attacked’ for one reason or another. It’s been going on here since last year so it’s really not a new occurance. I got slammed months back for offering condolences to a horse who’d recently passed (by one of the same ringleaders still active today…) Try not to take it personally. You sometimes need tough skin to play in the comments section ;-)
Barbara Wood
@Dani–thank you. My sentiments exactly.
Paul
Zenyatta, that is an absolutely gorgeous picture of you. You have the rare privilege of experiencing Kentucky bluegrass! I am happy that they brought back the Belmont races in New York, although I never knew that they were gone. If you have any picks in the Preakness, Zenyatta, good luck to them. Congratulations to the latest foal that the retired AP Indy has sired. 140 pounds or whatever for that foal-man, that is heavy from a human perspective! I hope the foal is doing well. I also hope that AP Indy is healthy, happy, and well taken care of wherever he happens to be.
ENSIGN
@ Paul,
.
It was just the Peter Pan stakes that was missing for a bit : )
.
A.P. Indy is in the same place, same stall he’s been in since he retired….at Lane’s End.
