Good Morning,
Happy Friday (the 13th)!
I hope ALL of you are doing very well. Everything here is fabulous. I am feeling terrific, doing GREAT, and very, very happy! It is gorgeous here at Lane’s End and the time I’m able to spend outside is so relaxing. I like to stand on the top of the hill and just look around for hours. It reminds me so much of what I would do each day at Barn 55! My paddock friends are all so sweet and we have a wonderful time together!
I want to introduce you to our ZENYATTA BRONZE CONTEST WINNER, DAWN CONRAD, of Cedaredge, Colorado. She has received #19 of ME! Here she is holding ME right after she opened the box! I am so excited…and so is DAWN!
Again, I’d like to thank all of you who participated in the contest. Dottie and John have saved ALL of your postcards. You are all SO SWEET and wrote so many special things! Thank you so much for all of your kind words and thoughts!
Again, CONGRATULATIONS to our winner, DAWN!
Have a wonderful day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

As always, thank you Zenyatta for being in the world. And thank you Zenyatta team for sharing her with us. What a gift!

@j Smith: I have a hard time getting an accurate time for watching Black Caviar’s races. If you’ve had any success, please give a heads up. Twinspires does show the Australian races and I would love to watch. If all is well she will run again at the same venue in two weeks. Her efforts and following remind me of our beloved Zenny.
@ensign: thanks again for the education.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Queen, I love the statue. Dawn is sure a lucky woman. She can open her eyes every morning and see you dancing!!!!

I bet Dawn had that smile on her face all day! Happy for her, and Dawn you look TOO CUTE! :)
So glad Dottie and John have kept the postcards so they can read how much we all love you, Zenny, and Team Z. It must be a treasure to read some many expressions of love and appreciation.

@Susan in TN – Loved your post about your pony, Scout, in reply to Terry Crow’s post. I could just envision this pony, with one of your kids aboard, and being, well, a pony. Too cute! The imagery made me laugh. It also brought to mind a funny episode at a show I remember – when one of my barn’s ponies – a shetland mix, named Macaroni Pony – was going beautifully in a hunter course at our Fairgrounds, the middle of which, he decided to take off and ran right out of the arena – child aboard…..She managed to get him back in….It was hysterical! The rider had a good sense of humor, and actually laughed as well. Ahhh – ponies – such characters!
Beautiful pic of Dawn & bronze Zenyatta…gorgeous sculpture.

@Cindy from LA. Here is what Darley is saying about Street Cry’s colt, Carlton House. He is indeed the favorite for the Derby. Street Cry is sire to many great horses, especially great is Zenyatta as we all know so well.

@ Janet Cutting,
.
Thanks for the LAUGH Janet, made my morning LOL ;-)
.
I must say I’ve also enjoyed the tales from a few posters on here. I’m sure many of us here grew up with a pony just like the one described. Amazing how they can be so obstinate and still so loveable :-)
.
One more week until the Preakness. I know I can’t wait! Greetings btw to all who said Hello. I’m not great at writing down all the individual names to post to each individually.

Can someone explain what a “sprinter” horse is in? I’m referring to news on the Australian wonder horse “Black Caviar” who they refer to as the greatest sprinter in the world. Thanks.
Charlotte A. Farmer
Congratulations Dawn, you lucky girl. That is just the best. I am glad Zenyatta that you are relaxing after such a busy and funfilled week.
Love you Zenyatta!
Judy
Zenyatta when we will hear news of you and Bernie? Have you been bred again? How are you feeling health wise? We miss you, there are some great horses, but none like you.
Take care and give us more updates please!

@Susan in TN–When the Black Stallion appeared at Santa Anita, horse and rider were dressed as they were in the climatic race segment. The horse ran down the length of the stretch at a rapid pace and at the end the rider had him do some tricks in front of the grandstand. It was then that the rider took off his mask and it was revealed that it was the kid from the movie. A thunderous ovation followed as the horse was led from the track. To all of the posters on this site–I hope I am not boring everyone with these old stories. I do enjoy telling them.

Queen Z..a BIG hello…you and your connections have been very busy of late, as have I, so I am catching up. I absolutely love those pictures of you and Ann,you and Mike, all of the team holding the Eclipse Awards…and of course what a great picture of your #19 with Dawn. GREAT smile, Dawn, and why not! I must also mention how impressed I was that Elizabeth (sorry can’t think of her last name at the moment) from the Women’s Conference took the time to post on your site, Queen Z. You are SO impressive, as are your connections. So heartwarming! And @ Amanda Gilliland, a sigh of relief that you were okay after those terrible tornadoes. NOW, I have some bragging to do: in the current issue of the Thoroughbred Times, my Letter to the Editor is published!! Page 7. About Barry Irwin’s comments on Derby Day after the race. It’s four short paragraphs, but for now I will not quote all of it, although since I am the author I might later. :) But one paragraph I will repeat is: “Can anyone imagine Jerry and Ann Moss, Bob and Beverly Lewis, Mike Pegram, or Penny Chenery responding like that? Can anyone even think of not smiling once you have won the Kentucky Derby (G1)? ” This is me speaking here on site now: I was at Hollywood Park for the Derby and had recorded the broadcast. My jaw dropped when later that evening I heard Barry Irwin’s comments. Even given some truth to what he said, as I say in my letter, that was not the time nor place. On a lighter note, Queen Z, about a year ago The T/bred Times published another letter of mine all about YOU. I will tell you all about that another time. @All of you, thanks for letting me brag a little–nice to have this outlet to do it,and not just to my family and co-workers. :) And again congrats to Dawn. I enjoy the postings and insights here from so many of you. I learn so much! Queen Z, you are THE best!!! Regarding our horse Rightful Image (thanks to those of you who responded last month), as soon as I know when his next race is, I’ll pass it along. Sometimes our turn around time is very short (like 48 hours), but I’ll do my best. Now, onward to the Preakness and crossed hooves for Animal Kingdom!
Terry Crow
I forgot to mention this in my last post. For all of those who enjoyed the story about “Scout” I should have mentioned that Jay Silverheels got in touch with my friend to see how his old horse was doing. Mr. Silverheels was a harness driver here in California in the later stages of his life.
