Good Morning,
Happy Friday (the 13th)!
I hope ALL of you are doing very well. Everything here is fabulous. I am feeling terrific, doing GREAT, and very, very happy! It is gorgeous here at Lane’s End and the time I’m able to spend outside is so relaxing. I like to stand on the top of the hill and just look around for hours. It reminds me so much of what I would do each day at Barn 55! My paddock friends are all so sweet and we have a wonderful time together!
I want to introduce you to our ZENYATTA BRONZE CONTEST WINNER, DAWN CONRAD, of Cedaredge, Colorado. She has received #19 of ME! Here she is holding ME right after she opened the box! I am so excited…and so is DAWN!
Again, I’d like to thank all of you who participated in the contest. Dottie and John have saved ALL of your postcards. You are all SO SWEET and wrote so many special things! Thank you so much for all of your kind words and thoughts!
Again, CONGRATULATIONS to our winner, DAWN!
Have a wonderful day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@ Dawn Congrats!! – I made it to the 16 and I know how thrilled I would have been to win. Your picture made me smile and feel so happy for you.
Zenny, can just see you standing on the top of the hill checking out every little thing – I suppose you then “chat” about it with all your buds! Glad you are well and happy – miss seeing new pics of you – hope to get some soon. (thanks Dottie)

I have read that Zenyatta likes mints. Are these Scotch mints, Canadian mints or Meadow Mint treats? Anybody out there know? Thanks. On another topic, I think if we treat each other, like we would like to be treated (John Shirreffs said that’s how he runs his barn.)that this website will do just fine. Good Night, Zenyatta. Love Ya.

@ J Smith: Well said – Zenny, Dottie and John, the Mosses and the rest of her family have brought only positive, inclusive and supportive inspiration to the sport of racing. Let us not disappoint them and live up to their high standards of what the world around Zenny should always be.

Dear Zenyatta I wanted to say good night. I am so happy that you have the beautiful life you deserve. I can just imagine you standing on the hill looking and taking it all in. You are such a sweet girl and I am glad that you have LE to take care of you. I get such a good feeling about the farm. You can tell Sarah and others on the staff love their jobs. I mean who would not love taking care of YOU :) Sweet dreams with Hugs and Kisses from Shari XXXOOO
@Dawn again you look BEAUTIFUL :)
@Ensign thank you for the education. I am still learning so much from everyone on the site :)
@ Barbara and Terry thank you for the kind words in last post.

Congrats Dawn! Beautiful picture of you and Zenyatta!
Nina- Breathtaking work!
Happy weekend to all!

Cindy from LA. Here is an article on Carlton House which mentions both his sire, Zenyatta’s dad, and his dam. Queen Elizabeth is apparently very happy with her colt and his prospects. He is very handsome like Street Cry.
I think that the Derby is a no go for Frankel. His trainer thinks that he needs more development for longer races. Apparently Frankel is like Uncle Mo when Mo is well. He loves his breakfasts.

Dearest, Zenyatta. WOW!!! I just got home from a meeting, sat down to do my normal reading of your diary and there I was! What a fantastic honor to be featured in one of your diary posts, Zenny!! #19 IS HERE!!!!!!! A I told Dottie, I was so excited opening the box, it was like the best birthday and Christmas ever, all wrapped into one. My wonderful staff joined me and snapped lots of pictures. Then there were phone calls to family and friends!! Yes, I have a permanent smile on my face that does not go away and I can’t keep my eyes off of Nina’s masterpiece of you. It was love at first site! The bronze is so. . . gorgeous!! #19 has been lovingly placed in my comfy little den. Here I am surrounded with images of you, Zenny, Secretariat, my other racing memorabilia and hundreds of books. Heaven! There is a great Fred Stone portrait of you hanging above the table where #19 stands and a small Willowtree figurine entitled, “Angel Love” shares the space as well as your commemorative magazine. Too fun!! I sat in my favorite reading chair the first night and just kept looking at all of the detail and the very next morning I had to check to be sure it was still there, it is all so unbelievable. Nina, to say the bronze is beautiful would be an understatement, it is perfection!! Thank you for everything, you are one remarkable lady. I have enjoyed our phone conversations very much and it is always fun to see your comments here as well!! To all of my wonderful Z friends. How do I thank you for all of the support you have shown me with your votes and very, very, kind words. Each and everyone of you have made a dream come true for me. ZENYATTA, DOTTIE AND TEAM Z, THERE ARE NO WORDS TO EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE. YOU HAVE TOUCHED MY LIFE IN A TRULY AMAZING WAY!!! Zenny, I am so glad to hear that you are healthy, happy and feeling GREAT!! I can just picture in my minds eye, how beautiful you are standing on that hill in Kentucky. LOVE TO EVERYONE!!!! Sweet dreams, Zenny. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO

Perhaps Zenny/Dottie could do a lesson on
Ethics as it relates to horses, owners, breeders,
Trainers etc…. so that people on this site realize
The legal consequences of revealing confidential
Information. Once it is written no matter who looks
At it there can be legal implications. PQ owners
Made it clear to Zenny’s connections that they did
not want information revealed about her on this site.
Perhaps those on this site will realize the seriousness
Of this if Legal action is taken. They can then bear
The guilt for it.

Congrats to Dawn on winning #19 statue…what a lucky lady you are! Congrats also to the entire Z/team for your own individual Eclipse award with the help and generosity of Mrs. Moss – such a classy lady with a big heart!
Z-you are the greatest!

I just can’t believe it. One of the chief’s of all trolls is back again. @notafanof ensign. We get that you don’t like ensign for whatever the reason and that’s your right. However, the regular, daily posters to this site really don’t want to read your vituperative writings. It brings us all down. If you don’t like what you read, then just don’t read it or keep it to yourself. I really don’t believe anyone on this site needs your direction on how to live their lives. Perhaps you should go back on your lithium.
@Ensign. I really hope that you don’t pay any attention to this person. You know that there are lots and lots of people on this site that really appreciate your comments.

That’s it for me tonight. Hope I don’t have nightmares!!!

now back to the REAL reason for this site….I am so happy for all those who have gotten awards and to Dawn who got the beloved QUEEN # 19. Sure wish I could purchase one myself but…I can still see her here. Night Queen Z

Hi Zenyatta. Dawn, what a great picture of you and Zenyatta #19. Congratulations. It is such a gorgeous piece. We love ours. It is so magnificent and we hope someday that this will be displayed as a lifesize statue of Zenyatta in Santa Anita or Hollywood Park. That would be so fitting to be with Seabiscuit and John Henry. Awesome. Love you Angel in Disguise. Have a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful weather, those wonderful moments of looking around your paddock and the surrounding area, eat well and have loads of great girl time with your BBFs. Love you.
Jackie
Good Evening Queen “Z”, Congrats to Dawn what a beautiful picture. What Lucky Girl! So glad to hear your enjoying the Kentucky Blue Grass. I am looking forward to staying up to see Black Cavier race. Although she is going for her 13th win she will never compare to the Great Zenyatta. Lots of Luck. Have a safe trip.
Hugs and Kisses

Good evening Zenyatta,
judging from the pics ‘one little Zenny’ found some pretty nice digs to call home.
Well, the week is over, here comes the weekend, yippeee :) :) :)
Oh, I bet the clover is in bloom & the bees are a-hummin’ in your paddock, and the blue grass is a-plenty, but no P.Q., just you and the new girls, huh? It’s good company never the less, right?
Good night dear girl, and sweet dreams :) :) :)
ENSIGN
Dear “children”,
Who mares get booked to is not FBI confidential information and is often widely available online on any number of industry sites (BC Nominations/Equineline/BH/TT/DRF, etc), Blogs, Forums, etc.
The little tidbid I shared I shared because 1) I thought some people might like to know, and 2) I’m NOT the 1st to post it online. I waited until it was posted publically elsewhere before simply sharing who she was booked to. Your SELF RIGHTEOUS comments were not asked for nor appreciated.
.
@ Sharon Call,
.
You had asked about the Lasix being performance enhancing vs ‘ensuring’. I think in *some* horses it does enhance performance in that it allows them to compete at a level they might not be able to without it. Regarding Pants on Fire, no way to know without talking to the vet really. I’m glad to hear the Lasix is helpful for you. It does have to be carefully managed with horses the same as with people. Some can lose a lot of fluid before a race from the Lasix and then lose a lot more after the exertion of a hard race.

Dawn, Enjoy. What a beautiful statue, don’t “the prance.”
I never saw such a neat desk.

To all true Z fans and diary posters: I feel I must apologize for my comments above. I “put my mouth in motion before my mind was in gear”. I hope I didn’t offend anyone.
@Ensign. Thanks for your response on Lasix. One consideration in taking any diuretic for people is that not only can you lose a lot of fluid but potassium as well. My potassium level must be tested on a regular basis to make sure it doesn’t drop below 3.0. Normal for people is 3.0 to 5.0. Below 3.0 and you can risk serious heart reaction and above 5.0 is the same thing, VERY serious heart reaction up to and including stopping the heart. I really don’t know if this is a factor in horses but I think I’ll do some reading to see if I can find out, just for my knowledge. BTW Ensign, thanks for ignoring certain comments above and continuing to post here. I, for one, do appreciate it.

I’m going to try this again. Good night all and I definitely won’t have nightmares. Good Night, Z. Sweet dreams of peppermints and fresh clover and lush blue grass.

Dear Mas,
Thank you so much for the article on Queen Elizabeth’s horse, Carlton House. There is a huge connection for Z fans, as his sire is Street Cry. Looking forward to his run in the Epson Derby. Hugs, Judy B.

To Max: Sorry for the typo Max. J. B.

@Max
Thanks for the great article. Lovely pics of the
Queen and her excitement. Wow Carlton House has a very accomplished European Dam Sire. I got carried
Away and watched the video of the “Race of the Century”.
Trina Nagele
@Sunny Boyd–Pirate Queen is still with Zenyatta, as well as the newcomers Mona de Momma and Tasty Temptation, according to Diary Entry #243. It’s Alyse and Sea Gull who are now in a paddock across the path, but within chatting distance.

To Susan in Tn. and Terry Crow,
Enjoyed your horse stories very much; thank you. Hugs, Judy B.

Let’s let Dottie settle the issue on P.Q. and any public discussions concerning her.
All I know is, I’ve been on many a blog where some people jump in and impart tidbits of wisdom about the industry and more likely than not sooner or later they really throw in a clunker because they feel intitled. I’m not saying that’s the case here but unless we know exactly who is conveying information concerning the industry, let’s take it for what it is and let it go at that. I’m here because it’s about the Queen and her loyal subjects. God Save her The Queen!
Margaret
@Ensign
Funny the only time we hear from NAFOE is when you post. Nasty really.
And I happen to agree with you. Who gets booked to whom is not that confidential. However her health issues could very well be–ie Barbaro. But that wasn’t the point of your post.
And I appreciate your posts and insights.
Really NAF–just ignore Ensign the same way everyone else here ignores my posts. Get a grip.
Holly Zemba
Congratulations Dawn!!! Luv ya Queen!!!

@s (in San Diego) I’m new to this site, so reviewed the last 4 diaries to understand some of the comments. You were so kind to the person that was concerned about Zenyatta. I like your style and class.
Susan in TN
@ Judy B: Thanks-hugs back at you!
@ Peggy: Keep the faith and keep your eyes open-you’ll get your horse! I also rode during all my growing-up years and then came children, work, etc. I didn’t ride for about 20 years. When I did get back into the horse world (thru my daughter- when she got a horse), it was like something slipping back into place that I hadn’t even realized was missing.
@ Dawn C: Such a great description of your den and enjoyment of your new “Z”-I felt like I was there!
Vicki B.
@all the rest of you – Sorry, if you want to ignore this, go ahead, but I felt I had to respond to this poster:
@notafanofensign – Sadly, and unfortunately, you are one being arrogant, chronically. You might hope to be believable, if you were honest, but “all the posters in #235” that you refer to, was actually only 3 people, one of whom later apologized for his error, while 11 other people wrote in support of Ensign — which is not a sign of codependence, rather just not agreeing with you. You seem angry, that you can’t get everyone else to dislike him. He is not bringing “arrogance, insensitivity and low class to this site”, you are. Please give it up. After seeing you do this over and over, I have to say that I suspect you’re really just jealous of Ensign, and how knowledgeable and intelligent he really is. I could be wrong, of course, but that would be my bet.
Peggy
@Susan in TN, Thank You very much. You’re a neighbor, although I am way down in South Georgia(Still a neighbor) Have a wonderful weekend. Love Ya Zenny and have a good night.
