Good Morning,
Happy Friday (the 13th)!
I hope ALL of you are doing very well. Everything here is fabulous. I am feeling terrific, doing GREAT, and very, very happy! It is gorgeous here at Lane’s End and the time I’m able to spend outside is so relaxing. I like to stand on the top of the hill and just look around for hours. It reminds me so much of what I would do each day at Barn 55! My paddock friends are all so sweet and we have a wonderful time together!
I want to introduce you to our ZENYATTA BRONZE CONTEST WINNER, DAWN CONRAD, of Cedaredge, Colorado. She has received #19 of ME! Here she is holding ME right after she opened the box! I am so excited…and so is DAWN!
Again, I’d like to thank all of you who participated in the contest. Dottie and John have saved ALL of your postcards. You are all SO SWEET and wrote so many special things! Thank you so much for all of your kind words and thoughts!
Again, CONGRATULATIONS to our winner, DAWN!
Have a wonderful day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dawn…congratulations on being the lucky one to get the bronze. My goodness, it looks exactly like Zenny. The continuing generosity of your connections simply amazes me. Everything they do is thoughtful and done with absolute class.
I hope you are enjoyiing the lucious bluegrass these days. We’re waiting for further “news” from you. I would love to be one of the lucky ones at LE who get to experience you every day.
Sue and Tony
Congrats, Dawn. We believe the bronze has found the perfect home.
Rita
Congrats Dawn. Hi Z love you so much.
Sharon Call
Dawn, many congratulations to you. The bronze is awesome and so are you.
@Ensign. I’m so glad to see you back. I hope your work allows you to visit more often. Am I correct is assuming that Lasix is not a performance “enhancing” drug, but a performance “insuring” drug? There has been so much controversy lately about using any drug on American horses but I never thought that Lasix would be in the category of, say, steriods or the like. I did see that Pants on Fire had “excessive” bleeding after the Derby and will be rested for 2 to 3 months. Do you think this is because of no Lasix or not enough Lasix or is there a way to tell about this?
Michelle
Congrats to Dawn but that was supposed to by MY statue :)
Barbara Wood
Congratulations, Dawn! Great picture. Any time you have a bad day, just look at Zenny #19 and smile. May you enjoy it in good health for MANY, MANY years to come.

Everybody. I just read an article in Bloodhorse interviewing Mike Repole and an update on Uncle Mo. If this man really is as he seems, then he’s a class act all the way. Here is the link.

Dear Queen-Z & Team-Z,

Max
Congratulations to Dawn on winning the prize. It is a nice picture.
@Cindy from LA. There is nothing definite yet on Frankel’s next race. It would be great to see him at the Breeder’s Cup.

Do you think you can be made into a Beanie Baby or something like it? I think you would look just as agreat being soft and cuddly.
Carol
Thanks for sharing, Zenny! We love you, and are so happy for Dawn! She looks like she will SO enjoy the bronze and treasure it! Way to go!

@ Sharon Call: I believe performance enhancement is not the purpose of Lasix, but there seems to be a correlation. I defer to:
@ Ensign: Also very happy for your return. Your expertise is welcome here as we all would love to become more educated about Zenny’s world, past and present. BTW – would that be Ensign David as I suspected a while ago? If so, both thank you and congratulations is in order as well. Please keep setting us straight! Dottie and everyone involved have been so wonderful in making this site inviting, educational and compassionate towards our people and horses.

Congrats on winning the statue, Dawn. I wish I heard about the contest to win one but oh well…
Any news on another breeding to Berni? I haven’t heard anything about it.

@ENSIGN
We always look for your posts. As always a clear explanation, this time of LASIX.
Is Mineshaft back covering mares or did the Pirate Queen breeding take place prior to his colon surgery?
Terry
Thanks for the photo Dawn you look so great and HAPPY. Zenny does that to people! Also, Z, you sound very happy, I think I might know why, but I won’t say it outloud though!! Stay well and happy!! Enjoy the beautiful “Bluegrass”!!

Congratulations, Dawn. We know you will treasure your #19 as much as we do our #20 — it certainly shows in your beaming face.
Amy K
Not positive, but I believe Monarch had the surgery, not Mineshaft.
Arlene
CONGRATULATIONS, Dawn! Nice picture. Wonderful blessings!
Amy K
Sorry, I stand corrected, it was Mineshaft. Hope all is well for him.
Brenda
Congratulations Dawn, I just know that you will enjoy having Zenyatta #19 for many, many years. What a thrill it must have been to open that parcel and the photo shows how happy you are. Zenyatta, I’ll be looking for you standing on top of that hill when I visit Lane’s End in July and hoping to see a high hoof from you when I wave to you and your girlfriends. Traffic around Lane’s End must be very busy these days. Love to you and all the Team.

Dearest Sweet “Z”,
Just had to wish Dawn one more ‘hurrah’ before I settle in. Just arrived home and the freeways are as if it is already Summer Vacation in So. Ca.! Maybe it is and I don’t know it :)
…………………………….
So good to log-on and see ENSIGN’S name and Post! All of our contributions are unique, and yours were certainly missed. My husband always checks the racing form closely to see whether a particular horse of interest was given LASIX before the race..they more than often do very well! Especially if they had recent bullet workouts and are in good post position; as well as horse/jockey winning streaks.

Dear Max,
I also hope Frankle comes to Breeders Cup this year. It would be wonderful to have him compete here. Hugs, Judy B.

Hi Ensign – GREAT TO SEE YOU BACK :)

Congratulations, Dawn, on winning that gorgeous statue of our girl. I’d be grinning from ear to ear, too if I’d won! I hope you enjoy it for many, many years to come. I’m so glad you’re enjoying your life here in the Bluegrass, Zenny. I drive by Lane’s End sometimes hoping to catch a glimpse of you, but I know I’ll never be that lucky. Maybe I’ll drive by again and look on all the hilltops for you. You are such a special, special girl, Zenny. Loving you in Lexington :-)

@Susan in TN-I, too, love old horse movies and TV shows. Mr. Ed was a delight as was Fury and My Friend Flicka. When the film The Black Stallion was so popular, they had the horse and the kid whom rode him give an exhibition between races at Santa Anita. Bear with me as I tell this story. An old friend of mine owned a riding stable in Southern and bought one at auction one of the horses that played Scout in the old Lone Ranger series. The problem was that the horse was used for tricks in the TV show and performed the tricks on v erbal commands. This was not discovered until sometime later when a client was out riding and “Scout” did s curtsy for apparently no reason. The status of the horse as a trick performer was verified with the studio but no one around could remember what the commands were. Therefore, “Scout” was retired as it was too dangerous for him to be rented to ride. My friend loved that horse, however, and he received the best of care while he was still alive.
