Good Morning,
Happy Friday (the 13th)!
I hope ALL of you are doing very well. Everything here is fabulous. I am feeling terrific, doing GREAT, and very, very happy! It is gorgeous here at Lane’s End and the time I’m able to spend outside is so relaxing. I like to stand on the top of the hill and just look around for hours. It reminds me so much of what I would do each day at Barn 55! My paddock friends are all so sweet and we have a wonderful time together!
I want to introduce you to our ZENYATTA BRONZE CONTEST WINNER, DAWN CONRAD, of Cedaredge, Colorado. She has received #19 of ME! Here she is holding ME right after she opened the box! I am so excited…and so is DAWN!
Again, I’d like to thank all of you who participated in the contest. Dottie and John have saved ALL of your postcards. You are all SO SWEET and wrote so many special things! Thank you so much for all of your kind words and thoughts!
Again, CONGRATULATIONS to our winner, DAWN!
Have a wonderful day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dawn, a BIG congratulations goes out to you! You earned it, girlfriend, so keep it safe and happy (or as happy as a statue can be!) LOL!
Zenny, I hope this statue will be able to be duplicated and someone is able to sell it at a reasonable price! I don’t much care for the Breyer model of you (it’s just not “you,” but I love this one!
Glad to hear you are happy and healthy. I have the feeling that you are preggars with a little Bernie. Just have that gut feeling, ya’ know? Am I right?

Congratulations to Dawn! I live in a town in Colorado that has 3 bronze foundries. We have a wonderful event in August called “Sculpture in the Park”, it’s the largest outdoor sculpture show in the world. I love to see all of the equine sculptures that are created by all the wonderful artists. Our friend Dee Clements (a sculptor) used our horse “Sugar” as a model for a sculpture he did about Paul Revere. I wish I could afford one! When I see the sculpture it just melts my heart to know that Sugar will be immortalized in bronze for eternity! You have such a loving and caring human family — you are so blessed!

Congrats Dawn! Your sentiments were so beautiful and resonated with us all. Happy that #19 has such a good home!!!

Dawn looks exactly as I had pictured her in my mind. Funny how that is sometimes. Congratulations on the statue! I can’t wait to get mine.
I loved reading about Zenyatta and her leisure life in the bluegrass. When my mare was alive I loved watching her enjoying her time out in the pasture with her friends here in the California wine country. I always thought that she must have felt very near to heaven in her new surroundings. After her rescue I only had her for 21 months and treasured the short time I had with her.

Oh, I LOVE this picture!! Such happiness!! I am SO happy FOR you!!
Dawn,it is so fun to be able to see your smiling face and to be able to picture you now !! Someone said awhile ago that we should have a “gathering” sometime where we could all get together and meet each other. I think that would be the best thing ever!! Wouldn’t it be the greatest if someday it could be combined with a visit to Zenny??? I can’t think of anything better!!!! It’s a fun dream anyway!!
Enjoy your dancing Zenny–I know you will treasure it always—and I am SO glad she went to live with you!!
Queen Z,have a lovely day standing on your hill–may you have the sun on your back and a soft breeze to ruffle your mane. LOVE YOU!!

Congratulations,Dawn!! Your sentiments were so very well expressed.
The ripples in the pond named Zenyatta continue to expand. The undulations will perpetually travel through time carrying the spirit of her being and all that she represents. So many happy faces and smiles, AGAIN!! So many happy faces and smiles, TO COME!!
Zenyatta…She is our horse of FOREVER!

Congratulations Dawn – you are beaming in that picture. It’s funny how even though we didn’t win the statue, all of Zenny’s fans are excited and happy for you! The power and brilliance of “Zen” pulls her fans together as one big happy family!!!

I love you Z How is the baby making going???
It is hard this year cause of the weird weather. Good Luck. Your body may need a rest from running before it can produce. Nature always knows more than we do. I was happy to hear that Rachel has a baby boy. Hurray for her!
Andrea from Germany
Oh Zenny, the bronze is so so beautiful but not as much as you are), Dawn looks very happy with it. Congrats Dawn, this is realy very special. Love you Zenny.

The statue is beautiful. By the way did you get bred back to Bernidini or are you going to wait until next year when you are more rested.
ENSIGN
@ Pattie in Pickens, SC:
.
In case Dottie doesn’t answer your question, LASIX is a diuretic.
EIPH (Exercise Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage) is the proper name for ‘bleeding’ as described in racehorses. It can occur in any high stress performance horse but is most prevelant in TBs. It’s caused when tiny blood vessels (capillaries) lining the lungs are ruptured during intense exercise and can vary from small amounts in the lungs and airwaves detectable only by a scope to full out blood trickling from the nostrils.
.
The LASIX (Furosemide) works as a diuretic causing fluids contained in the body tissues to be expelled (through the urine). This lowers the blood pressure in those cappilaries and helps reduce the incidence of bleeding. LASIX will not work on all horses, but many trainers use it as a ‘cautionary’ medication now, not even waiting to see if a horse will have problems with bleeding or not. If you look in a racing form on race days, you’ll note most all horses race with the “L” designation beside their name indicationg they’ve received the drug to race. It actually was legalized in the late 1970s
.
Hope that helps some Pattie.
.
On a different note….congrats to Dawn Conrad. The statue looks lovely!

Pirate Queen visited Mineshaft this season. No word on whether she’s in foal or not.
